Some of the video gotten wrong name of the sea near Korea peninsula... it is historically 'East sea' correct and (Sea of Japan secondly) . Japan has invested much to change this name as the way they want globally... and lots of things bought it and showed it now wrong as Sea of Japan... which is totally wrong historically... hope you see it right, know it, and correct your subtitles ...name...your video has been great btw
Very interesting. My Grandad fought there so I went in Sept 2022 for a look around and saw all the things you did. I actually saw a NK farmer through a telescope and learned about the daft flag pole stuff, had my passport checked by military, had a rough wanker down the tunnel (you are right, proper effort getting down there). Good video.

As a military dependent I was born in Japan. As a 26 yr military veteran I spent 6 military years in Korea and 1 yr as a civilian in Korea. I went to all these places and more. South Korea is a beautiful place with VERY NICE PEOPLE! I still have friends there. My family and I have great memories of South Korea and really miss it.❤❤❤❤
For many of us in America, the Korean War was just the backdrop to the TV show MASH, which was in constant reruns as a kid. My great uncle served during the Korean War and fell in love with the country and spoke of it fondly. I’ve also been fortunate to work with a number of Koreans. A beautiful culture and people. I think you wonderfully captured the beauty and friendliness of a people who must live constantly on guard with eyes fixed north. The contrast between the DMZ and Donghae was so interesting to see. It was also interesting to see how touristy some parts of the DMZ are. Would not have guessed that.

Really interesting to see your visit to the DMZ. I have never been to South Korea, but visited North Korea in November 2018. The DMZ and Kaesong was the first day trip. Our guide interestingly said she found visiting the DMZ from the north side much more relaxed than from Seoul. Kaesong is a beautiful city that feels like the heart beat of the Korean nation. I found the thought of 70+ years of total division heart wrenching. There is so little motor traffic outside of Pyongyang, and when the Covid lockdown came and I had an essential journey through my work, I immediately thought of usual service in the DPRK!
I'm lucky to have done 2 trips to the border now - I went on your trip in July 22 and the 2nd tunnel last month (March 24). Yours is the better trip as you're actually in the DMZ and closer to North Korea itself. Great vlog - many thanks! 🌸 🇰🇵🇰🇷

OMG. the place you visit first in donghae is hansum beach. The beach is not famous tnat much, and that is my gotoplace when i feel like crying . the second place you went by barrier fence is gobulgae beach. I love tese places because its not bustling and small pretty cozy ones Its amazing how you know these good places I hope you make a lot of lovely memory in korea

Julia, you made the right decision not going down into the tunnel. I went down and it felt so claustrophobic. Luckily we had to wear hard hats because I smacked my head on the ceiling a few times... but I wasn't the only one 😅

I also went during febrero because for a very long time I’ve been obsessed with history, specifically the war between These 2 now nations, it is quite impressive how decisions can affect so much people’s lives, I lived in Japan before and now living in China, I have the opportunity easily going to North Korea which I will, to continue learning about world history, I watched North Korean ridding their bikes, and it breaks my heart they don’t have any idea of what is happening in the outside world.
Reminds me of Berlin, New Years Eve 1989. Standing on top of the wall that night at Brandenburg Gate. The unknown of what was beyond. Then the surreal moment around 1am people were breaching it (each way, and man we helped a lot of people up from the East side onto/over the wall). But before we left that night, we also hopped down into the East. The guards etc on patrol had all just cleared off. 'This is unexpected and nuts: How far do we dare going?'. Not so far, maybe a 30mins wander about, a few icy-cold hundred metres in/around, with eyes peeled. Wintery desolation. I watched M+Js fascinating vid here and it reminded me of that. And I thought, how might it be if one moment they had an hour when they could just wonder into the North and back, and how shocking might it be...

I am an American (don't hold that against me, I'm not a Trump supporter), and I have been raised to dislike the North Koreans. I don't dislike them, I don't care for their leader, but the people of North Korea need their freedom. I feel bad for them, as many have been separated from family members in South Korea for decades older than me. The thing that I notice is the lack of rubbish seen on the streets of Korea. The Korean people have respect of their neighbourhoods.
I'm always tickled by the American food additions that happened to Korean food from the what the soldiers ate. Processed American Cheese food cracks me up in Ramyeon. I would love to go visit. Thanks for the video (as always)

Ireland’s history like Korea’s, being located close to the larger more powerful countries, Japan and England, with conquest and subjugation being their motivations, are the differences.
I never went on a tour of the DMZ. I just spent 2 one year tours in the DMZ. There were no tours then, we patrolled the DMZ in the winter. Was not fun with 90lbs on your back. Plus knowing if N. Korea attacked they already had artillery set on you, so you may not make it out.
Even though it's under a dictatorship, I got to say there is something peaceful about it. They live a very structured and intense life but so simple. They work extremely hard and keep the city clean No protests or Diversity stealing or breaking into the country. No Trans people causing confusion with their pronoun/bathroom insanity. Always modestly dressed and have respect for one another. They have great pride in their country and work hard in their schools for boys and girls to learn properly. It's almost peaceful, like a hivemind of bee's working toward 1 goal

Noone tries to invade or illegally go into the country. Not saying dictatorships are a way to go. However, there should be boundaries on certain things. Korea was divided instead of Japan after end of WW-II Japanese Pacific war 1945. USSR Soviet union into Korea. and.. U.S army come into Korea at the same time in 1945 for taking geometric possession of the East Asia ideological boundary.

Recently Russia made a deal for North Korean students to be allowed to study in Russia. Perhaps this will be the first step for them to open up.

Even though it's under a dictatorship, I got to say there is something peaceful about it.
They live a very structured and intense life but so simple. They work extremely hard and keep the city clean
No protests or Diversity stealing or breaking into the country. No Trans people causing confusion with their pronoun/bathroom insanity.
Always modestly dressed and have respect for one another. They have great pride in their country and work hard in their schools for boys and girls to learn properly. It's almost peaceful, like a hivemind of bee's working toward 1 goal
I agree with you. though I think DPRK is quite a harsh place to live. Modern Russia is a better medium. And to be far, so is China.
@@paulanderson7796 True, Turkmenistan is almost the same. Watching documentaries, it looks beautiful, yet the people are impoverished but very generous and helpful. Noone tries to invade or illegally go into the country. Not saying dictatorships are a way to go. However, there should be boundaries on certain things. Mental illness runs rampant among the American populous with "anything goes" its almost lawless with mass stealing, protests, and etc...
