WHY is the Chod Rig so EFFECTIVE?

  • Rigs over the years seem to follow fashion and the Chod rig seems to get little publicity these days.
    But the Chod Rig is so effecfive in terms of its ability to catch a carp on almost any bottom. This time of year the carp love to hold up in and around the dying weed and I can't think of more versitile presenation than the Chod, plus you can almost guarantee it's always presenting well enough for a bite! Yes this rig seems to have dropped out of fashion but you can see here just WHY it's so effective.....

    Mark spot on about the rig it's got me out the shit more times than I can count one thing I would say is dnt use it when the weed in front of u is up and down or your fishing in holes presentation can be shocking then gud luck guys and keep the vids coming mark.👍👍

    You really need to use flurocarbon with this rig naked guys and dont forget to add putty to sink pop up as it's not on leadcore it will sit up badly if not....just saying...big up the baitworks!! Love it.

    My canal is very weedy and very clear, i've seen multiple carp in the canal, but it's so weedy that a standard rig doesn't work for my canal. So this rig is 10/10

    I was thinking of using this on Rig tubeing as the rig tubeing will pin the mainline better. Plus i don't need to strip it off for when i want to keep it on the line. what do you recon to this?

    • @BaitworksTV
      @BaitworksTV  4 года назад +2

      I prefer it on the mono mate as this helps it take the contours of the weed. I feel the rig tubing will be stiff (ish) and that wont help when it needs to take the contours of the lake bed imo. Tight lines mate.

    • @BaitworksTV
      @BaitworksTV  2 года назад

      Hi Dave, the putty is needed if the pop ups are really buoyant, and the pop up will usually slide back up to the bead on the cast. cheers

      I use the mini ronnie sleeves by gardener on the chod link pull it over half the swivel like on a ronnie saves using a sleeve and putty all in one definitely naked on the flurocarbon with I tiny bit of putty as you use great video my mates always rib me on my time setting up as I strip after every session so I can set up accordingly if you leave a lead clip system on chances are you will just use it i think just as important as walking around looking is the application of the rig so many times I've turned up spoke to people who are struggling and catching get as much info as possible then do the exact opposite even in winter 4 degrees I've put 5kg out on a lake that's not done a fish for ages and boom hauling or go the extreme if its being filled in 3 chods single hi viz and leave them whole 48 hours at first your confidence wont be there but try it often catches out the better ones

    • @BaitworksTV

      I like a semi slack line Paul for the chod but I let the line sink on an almost slack line to let it all settled over the weed.

      It rides up on the cast and settles down the line when its submerged we've found, watching the underwater casts.
