    I would have to categorize this as your best video yet!! Due to the fact that the grip is Golf's greatest single fundamental. Everything evolves from this key to the swing. The thought of just enough pressure to not let go of the club is an absolute must for any player. I also love the idea of twirling the club around in your hands to gain the feel of the shot. The great Sam Snead did this, perhaps more than any other player. And he didn't do too badly with it!! This instruction is piling up pre swing advantages for the player. The detail of this video makes these the best tips on the grip yet. FABULOUS VIDEO.

    One other comment Giles, right from the start, you clarify that the club must be square as you place your hands on the grip. If your hands are placed in its ideal fashion without the face being square, you are creating compensations. The ugliest word in golf. At least in terms of that beautiful zen state of consistency. YOUR VIDEOS DEVELOP A SOLID BRICK STRUCTURE. NOT A HOUSE OF CARDS!! It is unbelievable how an exoert instructor can take even a solid player and detect enough flaws to fill a note pad. Removing these wretched warts is the only way to play exceptional golf. Anything else is a wing and a prayer. Mostly prayer!! Please continue to do as many videos on the grip as possible in the future. To hammer into our heads the key piece to solid golf.

      Thank you! The is to be very selective on what you tell a player so you don't over whelm them. One thought is more than enough

    Thank you for the detail of the fingers being kept together. I have always kept fingers apart for a soft grip(overlock). I practiced keeping together and found more control but seem to hold grip a bit tighter so working on relaxing the grip. I'm 64 and only a 12 handycap, will work on this. Thankyou🙂

    I’ve always had a a stronger grip but tried your suggestion and my hands look much better on the club. However I’m having trouble getting a wrist set. Any suggestions?

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  Год назад +1

      I would say players with a stronger grip tend to over set the wrists. Focus on controlling shaft pitch and clubface more that setting the wrists

      What is shaft pitch? Do you have a video on that. Love your style

    Spot on correct Giles! If I may point it out, you did overlook one method of interlocking the hands in the grip - the reverse overlap which does appear frequently in very long hitters and golfers who have limited hip mobility? Might be interesting to discuss the benefits and shortcomings of this method - early release perhaps?

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  Год назад +1

      Can you give me some examples of players who do the reverse overlap as I’m unaware of any players who do

      @@Gilesgillgolf- Try Jordan Smith who won the Portugal Open, known to be very log and when you review his swing there's limited hip movement, he stand open to compensate?

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  Год назад +1

      @@SeemplesCL55 just looked at yes he does use that. I can’t imagine their is much biomechanical advantages (I also haven’t seen any studies done on various ways to link the hands and it’s correlation to speed) but it’ll be a comfort preference. Many ways to get the job done in golf

    • @SeemplesCL55
      @SeemplesCL55 Год назад +2

      @@Gilesgillgolf Agreed Giles! However I discovered this linked grip having been diagnosed with a major hip lesion which restricted my ability to turn my hips. With my traditional grip I was hitting big fades then by reversing the overlap my right elbow tucked in and I was hitting draws again!! still waiting for an operation by the way and will have to rebuild completely when finally done!! One thing is certain if I do have restricted hip movement post operation I will use a reverse overlap as the my game was much stronger for the last 6 months of this year... I suggest this as an option for 'senior' golfers who may experience similar limited hip rotation resulting in a fade / slice??

    Can you give your thoughts on Max Homo’s and Keith Mitchell’s grips? They both seem to have long thumbs on their lead hand grip. Thanks

      @Gilesgillgolf  Год назад +2

      Long thumbs can help get more wrist set but tbh it’s all mainly about comfort

    Giles need some help! I started interlocking this year and it feels a lot better than my baseball grip I had. This week I went to the range and played quite a bit and noticed my right pinky has had pain on the middle knuckle and is swollen. Any advice on if I’m doing something wrong? My hands aren’t very big and I’d like to keep interlock if there are any simple fixes. But it’s been painful and I can tell will get worse with playing as is.

    • @Gilesgillgolf
      @Gilesgillgolf  Год назад +1

      The first thing is to make sure you’re not jamming the hands together. Pay careful attention to where the club is in the trail hand. Then from there make sure all your fingers are together with no space between any of them
