From the bottom of my heart, thank you everyone for your kind words. This project was so special to me, and finally getting to share it feels incredible. I have so much to say about it, and I'm pleased to share that my director's commentary is now available. If you would enjoy some long-form, behind the scenes content, I'd love for you to check it out: ruclips.net/video/vOF_ibi3Jnw/видео.html May the Force be with you.
What camera, editing software, lights, and frame-rate did you use??? I want to make a film like this with a almost as well put together story, but I don’t know what to use and how to use it. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated. May The Force Be With You Too.
@@brickstorm5503 My camera was a Canon Rebel T3i. All the way up until 2020, I was using Final Cut Pro 7 as my editing software. Last year I finally caved and subscribed to the Adobe suite; I used Premiere to put the final cut of the movie together. SFX were done in After Effects (first CS5, then CC). Most of the movie is done at 15fps; there are moments that it increases to 30 or drops to 10, but that wasn't done for any reason other than that that particular shot looked better that way. Lights were just standard table lamps, but a couple of them had the nifty function of adjusting the warm/cool hue of the light.

I can hardly believe this day has finally come. So, so excited! Edit: After viewing, I have to say, that was just perfect. What a story! A wonderful embodiment of all things Star Wars-from throwback quotes to the original trilogy and the prequels, to intriguing characters with fascinating backstories, some brilliant lightsaber duels and fight choreography, and real heart under it all, this film lacks nothing. The chills I got from that after-credits scene. . . . Fantastic. There's a fine balance in creating one's own Star Wars story between accuracy to the lore/established rules in the canon and creative liberty. And when you find that balance, you have a story that has no reason not to be part of the canon itself. I think Brendan May found that balance beautifully. This was so worth the wait and it was an absolute honor to play even a small part in it. There's more I could say about what I love about this film, but I think, for now at least, I'm just going to sit in this wonderful moment of having just enjoyed a truly excellent film. Well done, Brendan! Well done, indeed.

I would honestly pay money to see this in theatres. The level of dedication you put into this is unreal and it really shows. Congratulations on such a big accomplishment.
I cant get over the fact that it takes on average 30 minutes to get a good 1 minute shot in a stop motion. AND YOU DID 1 HOUR AND 30 MINUTES OF BEAUTIFUL MASTERPIECE! this is incredible you have earned a like and follow.
I just finished the whole movie and damn, thats what I call a masterpiece! Perfect story, amazing sound design, superb voice acting, atmospheric music and perfect editing! Best brickfilm I've ever seen! 👍 (btw.: I also loved the after credit scene!)
The views may not reflect this movie's greatness, but god damn is this impressive. There are so many nuances to the audio and visuals that are often forgotten in smaller films, but you absolutely nailed them. Even though these characters were Legos without complex facial features, you were able to convey emotions and develop conversations better then some big market movies I have watched recently. This nothing short of incredible. This 10 year project needs to recognized within the film community or I will riot. Honestly, congrats man. You made something unforgettable.
I can’t believe this is finally here! It feels unreal, I’ve been waiting for this since almost the beginning. I remember always getting so excited whenever a new update, scene, or BTS video dropped. This is definitely my most hyped RUclips video of all time. Thank you for finishing it!
This was so good, it was sad that most of the soldiers died, but the story was so good, and the fact that the brickfilm is over 1 and a half hours is just insane! Keep up the good work
This is byfar the longest LEGO Star Wars stop-motion that I've ever seen. The plot, animation, and the voice acting all come together to craft a very entertaining film. This production has been criminally underrated, and I hope you soon get the recognition you deserve. A job fantastically done, MakeNoiseMan Studios; you've gained an additional subscriber in me. I'm eager to see where this story will go, hopefully. ☺
I'm proud to say I once knew this man in high school, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away. This is truly outstanding. Amazing work. Words cant truly describe the astonishment I have. Keep doing you man. Cheers.

This is the greatest LEGO film the cinematography has ever seen! Every scene is a masterpiece. It would be awesome if you made a sequel taking place after order 66!
Normally I don't like stop motion, I was skeptical that this was really better than everything new that we've gotten, but after finishing it, just... wow. I haven't been so invested with something Star Wars than seeing the clone wars for the first time. The quality of this is off the charts, I can't imagine how hard it must've been to make, but thank you for making it for us despite those obstacles. I thoroughly enjoyed this, it will make a fine addition to future May The 4th movie marathons.
You have a insane amount of talent, the fact you made over an hr of a star wars stopmotion, man you have my respect, good job, you have a amazing talent
Wow. I never thought I’d sit through and hour and half long stop motion, but this is a worthy enough to be called a film. And not just a low-budget fan flick, but an actual story of loss, hope, and the burden of war. There aren’t many of these that are attempted in this quality and even fewer that actually get completed, and you sir have done just that. You should be proud, your hard work paid off into something truly special:)
In my experience, back in the day, LEGO films were more popular on RUclips. I was consuming them like crazy. Then the video essay genre breaking down pop culture took off with the Fandom Menace (of which I am now a part). But ever since the rise of the video essays, LEGO films may have seen a decline in popularity. Which is a shame, since you still have guys like MakeNoiseMan and OnBeatMan doing this fantastic work.
man, I can't praise this enough. a lot of great stop motion lack in story, voice acting, etc etc. it doesn't make them bad by any means, even this movie has a line of dialogue or two that felt off, maybe a decision I thought wasn't the best, but sweet Lord above did this absolutely blow me away. hour long stop motions like these usually sit in my watch later until I stop wanting to see it there and remove it, but as soon as I started I didn't want to stop. the dynamics of the characters are great, this even made me genuinely laugh, not because it's LEGO and you made something of it (the LEGO hobby bit was great tho), but because there was genuinely good jokes. the actors and actresses did incredible work, the story was interesting and unique and engaging. I loved every minute of this, even at the one moment I thought the pacing had dropped off a bit I was immediately drawn back in by just how good the characters were. literally just sitting around and talking and I couldn't be happier, the action is intense and engaging, choreographically pleasing. I love this shit. I'm gonna be hooked on this story for a while and from what I've seen it looks like this has been in works for yeeeeears. the work put into this has more than paid off, I'm gonna be showing this around to anyone I can. I only hope that in years to come, there'll be more. not too much to oversaturate it, just something to satisfy us greatly. any insults or backhanded compliments given weren't intentional, I well and truly can't praise this enough. what a fuckin movie.
You probably won't see this but this is one of my all time favorite BrickFilms of all time, keep up the great work because this was written like a true Star Wars movie!
This was amazing. The story line is one of the best I have ever seen in a stop motion. The amount of work and effort that you put into this was incredible. This was better than the sequel trilogy! Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your future content.
This is an absolutely beautiful work. The plot, characters, and dialogue are all incredible, the set design and the custom minifigures are all extremely well made. For me, the standout are the genuine messages that this film teaches. They somehow perfectly applied to my life currently, and I’m sure they’ll resonate with anyone who watches this. Absolutely masterfully done.
Dude, this whole thing was an emotional rollercoaster. This is easily the best Lego star wars stop motion I've ever seen. Honestly the best stop motion thing I've seen as a whole. Really great work!
It's the best LEGO Star Wars movie that I've been watching, thank you! And the ending (a conversation with Riley when they're returning on their ship) is so melancholic, but so true and beautiful... Well done, may the Force be with You! 🙂
Lord I wish I discovered this sooner. Legitimately cinematic level writing, this is better than most movies from purely that perspective, and it's a BRICKFILM. Impressive camera work, great characters, yeah you nailed it. Edit: I'm not counting the lego stop motion scene, that was a bit silly haha- But ay you acknowledged it in your commentary, which was excellent btw
The devotion to this movie is INSANE. I have tried my hand at stop motions, and I know that it takes a while. And the story was AMAZING. Heck, it almost made me cry! So yeah, props to you man. Great work of art!
I am semi-speechless, I never thought I'd come across a Lego film that brought tears to my eye, but that scene after the battle when Riley is sitting in the bunks alone is just heartbreaking. And I love the title, it fits well for the over-arching message of the story. From the ashes, we will rise. As does the Phoenix of mythology. I'm definitely gonna have to watch the director's commentary video later, very well done!
This is better than any movie I have ever seen. Amazing job, and I cannot think of spending 10 years making a lego animation. You deserve more love for this.
IT"S HERE!!! Thank you for releasing this. I know that it's been years of dedication, setbacks, and work on your part. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Your fans truly appreciate it and I truly appreciate it.
Jesus Christ, this was a masterpiece! Everything from the dialogue, the action and the emotional beats they all synergize so well. Keep up the Great work man!
Do I usually watch RUclips on my TV? No, but I felt that this would be worth it. And God damn.... That was a ride. LEGO stop motion videos can vary dramatically in quality, and this is one of the better ones. It has lovable characters, an environment that feels new and fresh but also familiar, and a wonderful story. Dooku is a great villain and it makes sense that he doesn't really lose. At the end of the day, while the squad accomplished their mission, it cost them. It cost them more than it was really worth, if you ask me. (I know in the grand calculus of war, Dale, Andi, Sev, Jenkins, Brooks, and Jax are a small sacrifice, but still. The void they left can be *felt* at the end) Sev and the Sargeant both have great speeches about love and loss. It's rare that LEGO stop motion anything will get me this emotionally invested, but I can proudly say that I was.
Jeeze... I didn't think that this would have gotten as sad as it did at the end. Although its just lego and its just a film, you feel like you can relate to the characters... Its like I knew what Riley is going through, as I have lost my mum last may. damn... I did not think that it would get this emotional... I just have to say, a big thank you for making this film and for putting the time and the effort into this. It has been an honour to watch this and to be proud to say that I have watched this. This is an amazing film and I hope that it gets recognised by many more people. keep being amazing and keep safe out there in the big unknown. ❤❤
Bro how has this not blown up! This is insane and one of most interesting and well written storylines I’ve ever seen in a Star Wars stop motion. In the wise words of master Kenobi, “Good job.”
I have nothing to say but what an incredible job you have made on this brickfilm! Edit: Nine years! That is absolute dedication to a project. Hats off to you, sir!
This has been in my recommended for a while and I finally decided to watch this. Thank goodness I did, this is by far one of the most incredible Lego stop motions and Star Wars story I have seen. I can tell all the hard work that was put into this, it really shows. I even got emotional near the end. Amazing job!
I watched it in one sitting on Tuesday and oh man, was this worth the wait. As far as brick films go, this is top tier. I remember seeing the first teasers and BTS content when I was in high school, and here I am however many years later finished with college and grad school. Great to see you spent the time needed to make this as awesome as you could without rushing anything. Great action sequences and the special effects are unreal, I absolutely loved seeing Stokes going full Arc Trooper and using his surroundings to his advantage. Loved all the characters, as they felt right in line with the Star Wars universe but also very relatable with their human nature, as they're much more individualistic than Republic clones due to their unique backstories and skillsets. The dynamic of the squad here kind of felt like the dynamic of the Rogue One squad but with a little more lightheartedness. (Loved the bit about making brick films, absolutely hilarious!!) But even with the lightheartedness, I didn't expect it to be as dark and gritty as it was, but I'm happy to see that you didn't hold back. You weren't afraid to take risks and make drastic choices with your characters and their fates. This definitely works in your favor for fitting with the universe, especially with the time period, and setting up a possible sequel with Order 66, more so as only 2 members of the original squad are still around at that point which adds to the thrill of "who can we trust if it's just the two of us." If you do ever decide to make a sequel to tell that story, you have our total support and we'll stick with you for every step of the journey, no matter how long that takes. 11/10 film, congratulations to you and everyone involved with making this as brilliant as it is.
This was extremely well done, and it was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. This is possibly the best stop motion anyone has ever made, and the credits were amazing. Plus the ending after the credits make me crave even more. Thank you for this wonderful gift of a movie!
This was absolutely amazing 🥲 man. The ending was spectacular, the story and characters were amazing. The character Riley was spectacular. All the characters were spectacular. The green screen was great. This has to be the best Brick Film I have ever seen. The 10 Years you put into this film was worth it. Thank you for never giving up on such a masterpiece.
Incredible work! This easily became my favorite LEGO Star Wars Brickfilm. I immediately liked all of the characters when they were introduced. Congratulations on putting a lot heart and dedication into the many years of making this epic film.
I don't even know what to say, fairplay mate. Unreal work. Think every brickfilmer dreams of doing something like this, but 99% of us don't, or didn't have the patience or discipline. Well done to you and everyone involved 🙌
This stop motion movie is amazing!!!! The dialogue and story is so original and the animation so smooth I've never seen anything like it. Hands down my favorite stop motion
Holy… Crap…. I’m in absolute awe. Incredible animation for an hour and forty minutes, with great effects, voice work, set pieces, and lighting! And on top of that, a story that is compelling with great and well established characters, and a great moral of the story to tie it all up! 8 years of hard work payed off man! Hope this blows up to another level, you completely deserve it!
I can't believe I didn't see this before! I'll have to save this to my watch later for when I have time, but a feature-length stop motion is extremely impressive!
This was absolutely a masterpiece there’s not one thing I would change the writing was perfect the banter amazing and the life lessons even more so At the end it becomes a real tearjerker and I’ll admit it got me it got me good I feel honored to have watched this 😢

I can't remember the last time I saw a Lego fan film like this, which makes you feel something. I was blown away. You should be very proud of this project. What an amazing achievement!
I have been watching lego star wars stop motions before this was even concieved, when lego youtube stopmotion was in its infancy, and this is by far one of the most orginal, thrilling and creative stories I have ever had the pleasure of watching over the span of a decade. On top of all the hard work and effort put into filming and editing that created a perfect atmosphere for the story that was going to be told. The characters were interesting and I would be glad to see some of them return in the future. The road might have been long, but the result was worth while. Thank you for sharing this with the world. Yo this is sick. And it took you guys an entire decade? That is more determination than anything I ever had for. And it is amazing as well. Really well done guys.
Dude this is amazing! I haven’t been to your channel before but once I saw this on my recommended I just knew I had to watch it. Considering how long it is and how high quality it is, you must have been hard at work making this! This alone shows your animation and editing skills and I am definitely subbing.
Eight years we have waited. Our patience was not in vain. What you have wrought is a masterpiece, worthy of recognition in the archives of the Jedi order. I hope this is not the last video you will ever make for this channel. That last minute kind of hints at a sequel. I'm certainly willing to wait another eight years to get an awesome sequel. ;) Regardless, if this is your last video, you will certainly go out on a very high note. And whatever else you do with your life, film or otherwise, this is one of your greatest achievements. From one Star Wars fan to another, thank you for this LEGO film.
Man, one year after posting and not even a third of the way through, I just had to pause to say these characters feel sp real. The scenes and filming are amazing but the characters personalities and realism really shine. Amazing work with this!! 👏
This was just amazing in my opinion this has more story than the entire sequel trilogy combined and will keep a strong place in my heart. I hope that one day I can craft a tale like this one I hope you are having a good rest after the completion of such an amazing film
Dude, this. This is. This is just incredible. The ammount of time and dedication put in this is just literally unbelievable. Watching this actually feels like watching a real movie. 20K subscribers and 2K views in 2 days is way too low for someone like you. Well done man, I hope more people notice you soon.

this is ridiculously good for someone to make. should at least have 100k subs for this quality
This is the best stop motion I’ve ever seen, there’s so much character that you added to the troopers. And I love that personally.
This is Amazing!!!!!! I have no words this is just brilliant!
Rewatching this masterpiece of a film never gets old!
Dude, this whole thing was an emotional rollercoaster. This is easily the best Lego star wars stop motion I've ever seen. Honestly the best stop motion thing I've seen as a whole. Really great work!
This is an absolute masterpiece. I watched every second and enjoyed every second of it. This could be a real Star Wars story
Holy… this is like a real movie I cannot imagine the time this took! This channel deserves so so much more attention
IT"S HERE!!! Thank you for releasing this. I know that it's been years of dedication, setbacks, and work on your part. Thank you for all of your hard work and dedication. Your fans truly appreciate it and I truly appreciate it.
This was so good, the plot and stop motion, most under rated film ever
This being an actual movie would be great.
❤❤
I am so very sorry for your loss. Thank you for your comment, it means a lot to me. I wish you the best.
@@MakeNoiseManStudios no problem.
I hope that 2022 is better for all of us ❤️❤️
It was so sad at the end. Amazing job on the brick film it looked so good, it was such a good story too. Amazing job!
masterpiece... the way you made peoples hearts break when the soldiers died, you have extreme amounts of talent
Epic story, that was beautifully done.
Loved the post-credit scene as well.
This film is a masterpiece. You are amazing! All the hard work you put in created something truly wonderful. 🙂
It wouldn't have been the same without you! Thank you for being a part of it. You rock.
(Loved the bit about making brick films, absolutely hilarious!!)
But even with the lightheartedness, I didn't expect it to be as dark and gritty as it was, but I'm happy to see that you didn't hold back.
Thank you so much for this thoughtful write-up. This kind of feedback makes the whole process feel so worth it. I'm very glad you enjoyed!
The quality of the movie is phenomenal. The plot is fantastic. The action scenes are outstanding. Amazing work. Congratulations!
It's weird to think that we waited nearly 10 years for this, and it's almost 2 years old
Incredible work!
I juste love it 🥰 ❤ everything to the laste moment
This stop motion movie is amazing!!!! The dialogue and story is so original and the animation so smooth I've never seen anything like it. Hands down my favorite stop motion
Giving every character a slightly different(ly decorated) armor was a nice touch. And it was appropriately subtle.
Holy moly! How is this not anymore popular, it's amazing! The editing, the story, all brilliant! Hope to see you make more of these in the future.
I can't believe I didn't see this before! I'll have to save this to my watch later for when I have time, but a feature-length stop motion is extremely impressive!
This was absolutely a masterpiece there’s not one thing I would change the writing was perfect the banter amazing and the life lessons even more so At the end it becomes a real tearjerker and I’ll admit it got me it got me good I feel honored to have watched this 😢
It feels surreal after all these years to finally see this finished! You did an amazing job and your videos inspired me to start my channel years ago. Excellent work and I hope we haven't seen the last of your work!
Honestly so excited to see this all over again!!!!
I randomly stumbled across From the Ashes tonight, and this is without a doubt the best Lego fan film I've ever seen. Amazing story, characters, stop motion techniques, everything.
You have gained yourself another subscriber.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment. I am so glad you enjoyed!
That was absolutely incredible!!! Everything about this is amazing; the story, vfx, animation, set building, editing and voice acting are all insane and the amount of work this must have taken is crazy - it feel like a real Star Wars film! Definitely the best brickfilm I’ve ever seen!
Yo this is sick. And it took you guys an entire decade? That is more determination than anything I ever had for. And it is amazing as well. Really well done guys.
I’m calling the cops on how underrated you are!
this is a masterpiece, this make me cry omg
Thats the best film of the world Good job amanzing
Dude this is amazing! I haven’t been to your channel before but once I saw this on my recommended I just knew I had to watch it. Considering how long it is and how high quality it is, you must have been hard at work making this! This alone shows your animation and editing skills and I am definitely subbing.
This was amazing man. Great story and great animation legit didn’t expect an ending like that man bravo!
Just seeing the length makes me say “Holy shit”
I can’t imagine what I’ll say about the rest of the video
Fr man, that was my reaction when I saw it
This stop motion is beyond amazing. I don't think I could ever see a better one. Well done.
This will be a staple and an example on how to make a lego animation and movie and this is a fantastic lego movie
Man, one year after posting and not even a third of the way through, I just had to pause to say these characters feel sp real. The scenes and filming are amazing but the characters personalities and realism really shine. Amazing work with this!! 👏
I remember when this was first announced years ago! I’m glad we get to experience this this.
Agreed this is like watching a movie
Words cannot describe how awesome this is. You deserve more than 20k, you deserve 20,000,000
This is a capstone project, I honestly enjoyed this film way more than the entire sequel trilogy, congratulations on this work of art
Damn never had a lego stop motion make me want to cry before. This is masterfully written. It's art of the highest caliber
I never thought in my life I would see a Lego Star Wars fan made movie with actual production behind it. This rivals the quality of Halo Megabloks stop-motion from nearly a decade ago.
