I'm sorry to correct the mistake about Marlowe's first play, because his first play was actually Tamburlain (1590) and The Queen of Carthage,Tragedy of Dido was actually in collaboration with Nashe in 1594. Thank you.
Marlowe is my favorite playwright, better than Shakespeare. I wonder if he would be the "runner up" if he was not killed in the tavern brawl. Also I wonder what other plays he might have written.
Nothing wrong with "Dr. Faustus", as it's a protagonist's dilemma and falls prey of greed. I think this video is just a small segment of one's Biography.
Special Effects Horror ? Can you imagine Dr Faustus being played to an illiterate Elizabethan audience ..the demonic stage set...the gunpowder flash and a real demon appears on stage and torments a well drunk audience. It must have been mayhem !! Bit like a Frankie Boyle gig.
LOL. What on Earth would make you think that. That's like saying Queen Elizabeth and Mary Queen of Scots were the same person. Clue: They were not. Read a book.
@@salahdin6382 Good question and did the most Christian of modern poets T. S. Elliot , (The Hollow Men) who concluded '"Marlowe was the most Christian of his period..." He and he would have have hated Faustus..

There is no exact date about Dido
But it assumed that Dido was before tamburlain
Tamburlain part I was published in 1587 and part II in 1588

Great question, in fact Shakespeare learned from Marlowe how to write plays different from the cheap ones they had then.

I am always suspicious when someone uses a portrait of Sir Thomas Overbury to represent Shakespeare, as this video does.
Yea verily !!

The Henry plays, I think they were referring to.

Marlowe was prettier, IMO.
