..Good job Doc! dumb question.- When quenching an edge on most cutting edges, isn't there a layer of scale that makes the file skate instead of the true edge...?
While true given the minimal heating this axe saw the thickness of this scale layer would be minimal and easily penetrated by the file.
very narrow blade, bugger all cheeks on it. Some sort of racing axe? be interesting to see it etched to see where the high carbon steel is.
Yeah I expect it’s something of that ilk also a strange eye profile too.
230 c is 446 f so you weren’t far off doc!
