I've just tried opening a 3rd party 78A toner cartridge (which lasted NOTHING!) with your video, and it was a piece of cake. Now that I know it's doable, I'm going to try refilling it. Thanks a lot!

Thanks dude, I was having trouble with one particular cartridge, I was always refilling one cartridge where you uncork a cap on one side and then pour a generous amount of ink, imagine my surprise when I couldn't find any cap, now I realise that can you do it your way, by simply removing this cylinder. Thanks!)
Yeah, it's not that easy with modern cartridges. They do whatever in their power to prevent cartridge refilling.

i hear there is a dust buster on the otherside for those powder that got burned or something that need to fill out and you didint do it , it that necesery ?
After second or third refill you have to clean the waste toner container. Simply remove the OPC drum and you'll see a narrow gap there, then simply flip the cartridge down with that gap and shake the cartridge to dump out the waste toner from the waste container.

How do I know if mine if the 79a is empty without taking it apart. I don’t have a printer for it.
I found 10 of them but I think they are used.
The full one is heavy and when you knock the container it sounds quiet.

why did you say to do not replace the chip? i have a th-36a toner and i am in the process of refill and the powder is spilling from a hole on that part where is the bigger cylinder. is it possible i have to refill it there? or i have to refill surely where you are refilling? i dont understand why because the powder is spilling from the other part. thanks for answer.
That chip is simply calculating the approximate amount of toner left in the cartridge. There's no need to replace it. You'll definitely notice when you need to replace or refill your cartridge. This cartridge consists of two parts. One stores good toner and another one stores the waste toner (under the big cylinder) and you have to clean that part. If you refill your cartridge through the hole without dissembling the cartridge it will destroy your cartridge after a couple of refills.

I was wondering why is there that much powder under the big cylinder... btw i thought there are a variety of methods to determine ink/powder level in cartridges and i thought one of them is by counting pages and after reaching certain number it stops printing and this is why i need to change the chip. so thats also new information. thanks for that. but I have bought a few chips so i might use them. :)

How many grams does it contain in your refill with 36a?
You can put inside 100 grams of toner powder but I'd recommend to lower it to 80gams. No need to stress mechanics of the cartridge which is not designed for refilling.

Can I use the old chip from hp 58a toner cartridge after refilling? If so will it keep printing or will it stop giving warning as to replace the cartridge?
All those chips are different and not interchangeable. There's no need to replace them, your printer will work without any problems. The only drawback, it's not gonna show you the toner level.
Is this the same for the hp1188w laser toner cartridge?
Yes, the same process for 142A toner cartridge that is used in your printer.
Can leftover powder mixed with the non-original powder during refilling process?
Yes, you can! No need to clean from previous toner powder.

Do you mean from the waste container? You can but that part of the cartridge also keeps a lot of dust and paper particles. So the quality of printing will drop for sure but it will though.

it's up to you. The chip doesn't block printing but it will show the message on your device that you have to replace the cartridge.

It's about 10-15 bucks depends on the amount of toner powder and chip. By the way I'll make a new video in a few weeks how to reset original chips so they will show again 100% of toner and no need to replace them.
