Ruger pretty recently released a sweet compact and lightweight rifle that uses the same magazines as your 5.7 pistol. Sounds like a Mother’s Day gift, hopefully your husband sees this!
It is a good idea for Mother’s Day
Hello Melissa, good job. If I may make a suggestion it’s easy to shoot targets when you’re nice and calm. Think about how you were feeling when you saw the foxes heart rate, breathing etc. That makes it a lot more difficult. Try running 15 to 20 m to your range to get your heart rate up and then shoot and see how you go.
Yes I like this idea
Thank you
Fun video Melissa like your outfit, you look great in blue! First off, I think an indoor toilet for night use is essential in your off grid cabin. At 75 getting up in the middle of the night to pee and needing to go outside is not a pleasant option. Now, a joke: Two deer were walking through the woods with targets on their side. One turned to the other and said, "Next year we shop at Walmart!
"
Ha ha ha okay thank you Nancy I love the joke and yes thanks for the suggestion of indoor toilet
Melissa it is great to see you on the range again. Sorry to hear the reason why. We lost a sheep to a dog attack I wasn’t prepared for. Traps work 24/7 when you are busy working.
Melissa, it is so good to see you back! You have done well and I loved your shooting. My daughter lost her chickens the same way. It’s good for you to be armed. More please!!
Hi Rex thanks for sharing this
I can relate to how your daughter feels
Well if she's Melisa, who the hell is Morgan?
Living out in the country always need to be packing for all sorts of encounters, love you guys
That’s true Dave
Thanks much
Glad to see you carry…. We all should. We have the craziest world that man kind has ever seen.
I agree
And given that (in varying degrees) you have that right/responsibility, make the most of it. In some countries self defense is not a right, least of all carrying…

YAY!!!! Thanks Melissa! OMG Melissa! Foxes are super patient! That's the old saying, "Smart like a Fox!"
Oh yes smart like a fox
Good for you, take care of business as needed ! Its really good to see you shooting again so stay on target !!!!
Thank you
Good luck with taking care of the fox problem at the brick house. Hope you can find their pattern and stop them soon. Stay safe and keep us informed and have fun. Fred.
Thanks so much Fred
@@Morgansunleashed More than welcome Melissa.
😊 👋 Wonder Woman, great to see you & hear from you. God's blessings always ❤
Melissa, so glad to see you back. We used to have chickens on our farm - weasels were the only predator that went after them. They'd get into the hen house at night when the hens were all roosting and bite them in the neck like a vampire - they'd kill three or four a night until we found and nailed flattened-out tin cans over every opening that we could find in that old henhouse. I hope that you report back about how you solved the problem of the foxes and chickens. I'm old school, I had to be to feed the family. I hunted everything from woodchucks to deer. Sometimes we went hungry, and other times we ate really well. prmorehouse - author
Thanks. Philip
That 5.7 is a great little round that is wicked fast and perfect for varmints. Glad to see you carrying when your out and about. Really enjoy both you and Mike and the videos you produce. You both are part of my daily pick me up..keep up the good work.
Thank you
Excellent surprise to see a new video from you, those foxes better be careful, now the lady has a fire breathing Five Seven on her hip. Thanks Melissa.
I love the way your gun matches your clothes and your personality!
Ha thank you
It's good to see your target practicing again. One reason I haven't gone with firearm in the 5.7 round is because of the cost. I've actually hunted fox with a 22 caliber rifle. Have a great Day !!
Yes that’s a good plan as well
Everyone knows who the brains and the brawn of the operation is..... Your a special partner in everyway so make sure you let Mr. Wonderful know that!... DAILY!!!!! LOL
Thank you
Hello Melissa,
I’m sorry about your chickens,it is alway good to carry in the farm lately been lot animals with 4 legs and 2 legs, very nice pistol. Thank you
Love the Channel, glad to see you again. I know you must be super busy, so thank you when you can, be Off The Leash.. Have a Day!
I realize that everyone has an opinion, but although that pistol being a very nice pistol, that caliber makes it a hand-held rifle that will violate body armor. Get Mike to buy you a large frame 22 mag that will lay waste to any critter that might want to attack you or the other hens in the hen house. Love the flannel, and Mike is the best camera man anyone could have.
A great Lady and Mom
THank you
Good to see you back on MOTL. Like to see some of your Firearms Friday!!! Give Hunter a big Hello
Thanks John
We live out in the boonies, whenever I go out in the woods to work or walk I always have my 45 with me. With bears, bobcats, coyotes, etc it only takes a second to regret it if you forget it! Just found out a new pack of beavers has moved in at our beaver pond, another project!
Thank you
Fantastic Missy.....😊
Your looking awesome as always 😎.
Good shooting.
Aloha Mick
Hey Melissa.Good to see you again even though I see you most every day on the other channel.Nice pistol.Yes I can’t hit the ground with a small frame even though I have a few small ones.Always love yours and Mikes videos.I look forward to them. Thanks for what y’all do.
Thank you
For what it’s worth Melissa, maybe consider getting something like a GSG.22 with 10+ round mag’ and burn up a few hundred rounds of inexpensive .22 ammo’ learning to respond and shoot accurately without relying on a laser, so that if/when you need to engage with the 57, you’ll be better prepared, & it won’t hurt the wallet so much? Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks Eddie
Good to see you Melissa, your integral to the whole operation, glad your enjoying your pooches.
Thank you R P
Nice shooting! I think more people should carry. I miss target shooting as well. Need to get back to practice. Have a wonderful evening.
Thanks Beers crew
Nice job Melissa, great video, keep them coming!
Thanks Paul
Glad to see your videos! Learn to draw from the holster. Draw, aim, shoot, holster. repeat.
Yes I agree thank you
Good job Mellissa!! The 3 metals to collect, Gold, Silver & Lead!!! lol Look forward to your landscaping ideas down by the new firewood/Egg Shack!!
Thank you
I laughed at Gold silver and lead !
Yay!! Your fashion Tuesday outfit is awesome :) So sorry you had to go through that. We have never had a fox problem just some raccoons a while back. I have a 6ft privacy fence that covers the sides and back of my back yard. We live in a semi rural area, in back of us is a big wooded area that is posted on the trees "KEEP OUT! private property" by the owner, my boys and their friends know they are forbidden from ever going there as they do bow hunting in season and practice back there. I do get to see and hear some wonderful birds though.
Oh Mary it sounds perfect!
Hope you and the boys are well!
I’m prepping for graduation
@@Morgansunleashed Thank you :) we are doing well. Praying for you with that.
Good to see you again, Melissa. I hope this video isn't deleted because of showing your weapon. Thanks for sharing.
Chris from South Central West Virginia
Hi Chris
Thank you and I hope it does well on RUclips
Glad to see you back at the range, looking great! Varmint control is a neccesary job!
Yes it is thanks Barry
Great stance, grip, lean, form! Not only beautiful but a great shot too!
Thanks
THAT is fantastic!! You look super natural with that pistol !! And I love your thoughts and attitude on foxes. I feel you are correct in defending your flock. YOU have to be smarter than the predators to keep your chickens alive. I support you 100%!!
That’s exactly right - thank you
That sounds like a Grumpy round.
It’s good to see you on the screen and I hope you know we all love you! I wish you all the good in life!
Thank you so much Ray
Always good to be prepared!
I just came from the shooting range today my self. Stay prepared and safe ( get them foxes) .
Thank you
5.7 round is awesome! Good pick the 5.7 round is soft body armor penetration round very nasty!Well over 1500 yards! A 22 round is cheaper and more effective to kill any small game! 5.7 x28 is more of a civil unrest round!!! God Bless 1791
Thank you lala
MELISSA I LOVE YOUR SHOOTING OUTFIT -- YOU ARE ADORABLE
Thank you
Great to see you back posting videos, look forward to seeing all the pups.
Thank Keith
Hey, Melissa! Great to see you. Hope you get that rascally fox very soon!
Thanks Mike
A .22Mag pistol would be great as well, and ammo is less costly. I believe the Ruger Wrangler comes with an extra cylinder in .22 mag. Combined with a Western style leather holster and belt, would be perfect for around the farm.
👍👍🕊 Mighty Melissa's got a Brand New Pop Gun, Nice! I keep a 22 Mag w/birdshot handy
Hi to All, "Have a Day"
Thank you
Oh Melissa, your story about the chickens, sounds so familiar. Our entire flock was completely destroyed by a couple of foxes 🦊. We had raised the chickens from the time they were hatched and to see them picked off one after another, we felt like we should’ve kept them in a more secure environment. They were kept secure at night and they were free range throughout the day. That’s what made them comfortable in the yard scratching for bugs in the yard and dusting their feathers in their favorite spots. I really enjoyed the latest video content, keep up the good work.
Oh dear Larry that is sad to watch them picked off during the days when they are enjoying themselves free range
We are leaving in the direction that they will not be free range until we are better prepared
Thanks
Hi Melissa, great to see you on again!
We’ve had chickens for 13 years now. We have red foxes and occasional grey foxes in Central Massachusetts.
The red foxes are our issue in the Spring mostly. The parents have kits to provide for and we have to be with the chickens all the time. Your yelling was the right thing to do. Red Fox watch humans and don’t see us as a threat. They will build dens close to human habitation to reduce getting prayed on by coyotes and fishers(which tend to avoid human contact).
Looks like the new pistol will set you up well when it comes to these predators.
I love the info on the tube man to scare hawks away. That’s really cool!
We will try that.
Again, great to see a new episode of MOTL. ❤🐓
Thank you Window Geek
We don’t have many fishers here I heard they are nasty
But for now these fox are relentless
Thanks for the kind support
Melissa, You and your family have been so brave and so wonderfully outgoing in sharing your hearts with us on RUclips. Thank you and keep it coming. God Bless you. John in Missouri Valley Iowa.
Glad to see your newest video, good job aa always. You are right to protect your chickens !I like a laser sight also , make those rounds count ! Thanks for the update .
Thanks
Way to go Melissa! I’m
Sure You saved a bunch of them
That 5.7 is a screamer!
I'm glad you are back. I know you all are busy, and we only see a tiny fraction of the Morgan's. You protect family and farm animals. Nature is hard, and most people don't know that. We live in a rural area. My wife called me to come out and get her in the house. She said a bobcat was sitting on our deck. I got prepared and went out it left as I was opening the door. My daughter saw it a few days later, just up from our place.
Oh wow! We don’t have them here
Thanks
Glad you brought back the Firearms Friday sessions. Missed it a lot and that thing should take care of the fox problem.
Thank you
I love your response to the fox killing the chickens, you plan to defend your chickens and eliminate the problem 👍
We all love nature, but an animal killing your livestock is a problem that will only get worse if it is not dealt with.
You go girl 👍👍
Thanks and exactly right
Hi Melissa, I was paying attention while watching. All I can say is, if you're carrying, you won't have to run and scream like a crazy lady. Young fox that have been turned out by momma fox, will stick together. You have good morals, no one thinks bad of you to kill off fox that kill. Hope You Have a Better Day, Boscawen,NH
Thanks Lenny
Rock on lady! Great to see down to earth values and women using fire arms for protection and protecting important aspects of their life. Keep up the great work!
Thank you
Hey Melissa, I have the same shirt ! It’s one of my favorites. I grew up in a NRA family. I too think a lower muzzle velocity load might be better as there is less muzzle rise which means one can get the pistol on target faster . Cheers !
Thank you
Great to hear from you Melisa! Hope all is well, hello to Mike, Hunter and Eva! Don’t see much of the rest, but hello to them as well!
Good to see the women get into shooting as well, need more of you out here.
I’m headed home today, then down to Ga for a few days. Got some business to do there.
Take care and stay safe folks! God bless!✝️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks and safe travels to you
Looking great as always. Watch out Mike remember the bathroom. Have everyone one have a great day.
Thanks
Awesome Lady, keep up the great work that yall do. Get them Foxes!
Thank you
I think I've said this before but you are the singular reason I began to watch OWTM. I don't think you give yourself enough credit. I like the content you put out on MOTL. You are an extremely attractive woman, beautiful smile and just a great attitude. You make the vlogs and we will watch guaranteed. Glad to see you back.
Thank you I appreciate this
What a great video and thanks for all of the updates . Foxes are so mischievous and it’s hard to know when and if . I know my sister lost three ducks and the warden told her it’s an easy meal for them . Love target practicing. Can’t wait until you get them .
Yep you are exactly right
Thanks
Great to see a new post. As much of a pain the foxes are, it's also nice you're in a rural enough area to enjoy those wildlife problems. Looking forward to more posts and good luck with the not a out house in west virginia.
Thank you Terry
Hey Melissa, good shooting form. As a Firearms Instructor (GA POST certified) I trained a lot of officers in shooting techniques before they went to the academy, One of the best exercises was to learn to draw from the holster quickly and get on target before placing finger on the trigger, anything other than 3 to 5 yards you want to maintain focus on the front sight always target is a little out of focus and rear sight is lined up even with front sight. Perfect practice makes perfect, press the trigger on the exhale and try to hold the trigger to the rear before easing up to reset point (Small felt click) and line up sights again press trigger on exhale maintaining sight picture. Also be aware of where the bullet may hit behind the Target (coyote) It looked like you were doing some of the techniques but is hard to tell from video. My boys are instructed to always carry in our woods due to hogs coyotes are here too but not so much as a bother. Good Job! and keep practicing. Jla
Thank you John this is very helpful!
I appreciate the supportive comment - I’m always practicing and want to improve
Wow it has been a L O N G hot minute. Sure glad to see another of your AMAZING videos, Thanks 💛
Thank you
Well done Melissa only way to eradicate the problem is lock the chickens up or eliminate the problem glad to see you chose the later👍
Thank you
Melissa, hang on to the 5.7 brass, you may want to get reloading it.
HELLOOOO Melissa!! Glad to see you having time to post a video. Sad to hear about the chickens. Happy you’re preparing for anything that may be a threat in the future.
Have a Day
Hello Hunter 😊
Thank you Jack
Hand me ups! Best kind of clothes! Good to see you shooting again, but sorry it cost the chickens to do it. Carry always. And good luck.
Hi Melissa, good to see you again...for us here in Michigan, Coyotes are more of a threat than the fox's. We dispatch what we can, but they are so nocturnal and crafty , we rarely see them. Great video !
pc
Thanks Patrick I do believe coyotes are a problem as well .., here we don’t see them come close to the house but Fox do
Youre a big part of outdoor with the morgans yes. However, im ready to see this channel take off. You deserve it!
Very nice shooting impressive.

Thank you
Hey Melissa I met you and Mike up in Booneville and talked-about my son buying land by your folks anyway we walked his property 2 weeks ago and walked up on a coyote den and a pup came out lol so now we're thinking about carrying !!! Or maybe we can hire you😂 good to see you're back!!
Oh yes I remember meeting you
And I know exactly where your sons property is ( I think he bought that from one of my retired school teachers )
Wow to walk up on a coyote den is cool & yes I would for sure be carrying now
Interesting on the being your teacher. The property is so interesting to me because there are so many different varieties of trees and bushes scattered around the property with an abundance of wildlife. Along with a 2 acre pond. Maybe we'll run into you and Mike sometime we would love to learn more about the area
Melissa so good to see you on the range. Too bad about the chickens though. I'm looking forward to seeing the pups again LOL. Hunter we need to see you brother!!! Nice seeing anything the Morgans post. Ed in Stafford Virginia.
Thanks Ed

Fun video, Melissa! Nice shooting! That 5.7 is a lot of pistol. Nice choice.
Thank you
Melissa, if I may suggest, go buy at least one or two more magazines for your 5.7 and get a holster for them and your Ruger. Good hunting!
Yes i appreciate this I do have a few more magazines
It's a shame what ammo is costing these days it's a shame what this world is coming to besides all that great video
I agree
I know, right? Ammo is expensive.
Learned something new! Thank you! The inflatable banners!
Yes they are useful to scare off hawks
Melissa, may I suggest something. You should practice your draw and shoot under stress. Think of what the chaotic scene was with yard birds going crazy, dogs raising hell and you freaking out. Maybe do some short 50 yd sprints back and forth towards your target then stop, draw, aim, squeeze. The foxes aren't going to sit still like the steel target and focusing will help hit the targets and stop the threats. They will be back, if they haven't already been there scoping things out, again.
Oh this is a very good suggestion
Yes thank you I like this drill and believe it will be helpful
Nice shooting Thank you for the video
I really enjoyed your shooting video. Practice practice and hope the fox move on. Fox are very pretty to watch but not when they are killing chickens. Thanks for all the hard work your family provides in all your videos. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks James
I’m definitely in the same mindset!! I have problems with hawks and foxes too I have electric fencing and a 50 by 50 netting dome over a large run good luck and take them out 😋😉
I can relate
The sky dancer that you see at car dealerships help scare the hawks off
