      @@icp7201 If you're gonna premove in the opening you need to be sensible about it. In blitz it's reasonable to try get time wherever you can and the best place to premove can be the opening to save time. But like, if your opening can have your pieces be attacked in one move don't premove. Only premove where it's literally impossible to hang a piece in one move.

    A lot of times he suggests a move and I think "what are you talking about" only to immediately see he's right and I'm 700 for a reason, but from time to time he'll do something where I'm even doubting myself thinking "but don't you just get taken by that bishop? what am I missing?" and then he gets taken and screams.

      At NL's elo a queen is worth more like +50 - except sometimes it gets instantly hung, so it could also be worth +0.

      @@dylanb2990 at no point did I say it's low - NL is in the peak 0.1% of chess players ever. That doesn't change the fact that a queen is generally worth more than three minor pieces at his level AND pieces get hung pretty frequently around 1400.

    Hey Northernlion, just a little tip. I suggest going to the settings and changing the desired engine to komodo instead of stockfish. Its also strong but shows the lines extremely fast.

    14:37 I only say this because I struggled with it for a long time: the a rook is clearly the better rook to take the f file in this situation. Naroditsky had a great video on the topic, hit him up if you're interested.

      It doesn't seem obvious to me why one rook would be better than the other here, especially in such a winning position where it wouldn't really ever matter. Rhf8 actually seems better since the e file is threatening to open up and you might want your a rook there to control both files.

    Generally, 3 pieces are better than a queen, especially when the position can be opened or is already open. The 3 pieces simply controls more squares.

    I believe that on grandmaster level the king's gambit is usually declined and the queen's accepted, not vice versa, but I might be wrong. Same as you, I do not understand the reasons why for either.
