This episode teaches how to properly shuck and bait a surf clam. It's important to use the whole clam for bait. It also shows how to use clam tie to secure the clam to the hook.
this is awesome, i fish the Great South Bay in Nassau County NY...you guys are killin it the same ways i fish when i go out. Its good to see that on youtube rather than all these guys snook fishing in florida. Dont get me wrong, i enjoy those videos a lot...but its not the same as seeing vids of your own backyard.
I went shore fishing for some smallies in the rapids i know the area well since its closer to my house, while i can catch smallies no problem with jigs and cranks when the time is right i decided to use one of the mussels i have always seen around my feet while wading out, i cracked it open and put it on a drop shot rig with a heavy weight since the current was strong, i ended up getting a few 2-3 pound bass, and it was instant action for channel catfish from 2-10 pounds.

@emilemil1998 Well you seen our video on Clamming for Striped Bass. Now make sure you change you bait at least every 15 to 20min. Sense is very importing for fishing. If your not in a Tournament and your fishing from the shore you can chum around the area too. If your on a Boat get two cum pots and try that. Thank for watching. Fishing On!! -Mike
Hi, I'm headed up to Portsmouth for the weekend and would love to get some fishing in.. I fish for stripers here in NY from the beach, jettys, river bank during our spawn (right now!) and from my kayak (I suck, just learning with the yak). Do you have any advice you can offer? I see clam and mackerel as bait of choice... hope to hear from you :)
If you've ever used sea worms, how do you rig them up with out the worm ripping, and how could I avoid the other fish like porgies, sea bass, and the perch for taking it before the stripers get there?
