    I was finding out about the differences between a traditional stance and a dynamic one. Thank Jaakko for the comprehensive approach!

    Great video and nice explained. I was expecting the classic arm measurements but happily that is not the case!!!

      Thanks for the feedback! Classic arm measurement is not a good way to measure length of pull , even for a classic stance :D

    I like your description of Sock fitting!....a funny thing - I am short and know that I have to have a short LOP for all my shotguns.....well, on my home defense shotgun (Mossberg 590) - I made it too short by about 1/2"......if I dont remember to move my thumb over - I punch myself in the nose! Now I have to add a spacer or a long recoil pad !

    I've tried to shoot whit Dynamic stance, for me is not natural position but the angle of transition is very open.
    For me is very interessing a video whit dry drill and fire drill fon increase the speed in transition.
    Thanks a lot!!

    • @jasuhep
      @jasuhep  3 года назад +1

      Thanks! First I would check if the point of aim and point of impact are in line or not. Meaning if the barrel rib is truly aligned towards the target you are shooting. To change where the shotgun is pointing, the stock cast could be changed but first it would be better to check the ammo, sights, aiming, firing etc.

    Thanks for your great video Jaakko ! Not always have a chance to learn from world champion.
    Could I ask how you hold the shotgun to control the recoil? Pulling the support hand and pushing the right shoulder?

    • @jasuhep
      @jasuhep  2 года назад +1

      I find that there is no need to pull the gun too hard to the shoulder from the pistol grip. The stance will take care of most of the recoil. Of course there is always some push from the shoulder.
      If you are shooting pump action, the front grip needs to be relaxed if you want to be fast. If you are shooting semiauto, you can also put some more pulling force to the front grip. But the true recoil management does not come from the hands, it is your whole body.

    Could using a "youth" stock be better than a standard stock in terms of length?

    • @jasuhep
      @jasuhep  2 года назад +1

      I use "benelli compact" stock length on all my shotguns. It is -20mm shorter than standard stock. InnovaTAC makes adapter kits that you can use to cut the orginal stock to compact length.

      @@jasuhep I was just looking at a Tristar G2 Viper youth model that comes with 2 stocks and a 2" barrel extension, so the barrel could be 24" or 26", but the sight radius remains the same. (20 gauge which I thought could work for casual clays and maybe casual action shooting. I'm new to shotguns, so I don't know much.)

  • @eselzki

    Is it advisable to cut the front end of the stock to lessen the length of the distance from the grip and the trigger? I am considering this because i have short fingers. Is there an optimum placement of the trigger finger in relation to the distance of the grip? Thanks

    • @jasuhep
      @jasuhep  3 года назад +1

      I will talk about this more in the video: "stock modifications". After this 2021 competition season is over, I will again have time to continue doing this video series. Cutting the front of the stock might be problematic or impossible (depending on type of shotgun). It would be more advisable to first try increase the grip size with epoxy, RAT grip or similar product.

    Hi Jaakko!
    Thank you for these great tutorials! Would you be so kind specifying the exact spot your stock contacts your chest during dynamic stance? What interests me is the stock position relative to the clavicle. Slightly over, mostly over or below?

    • @jasuhep
      @jasuhep  2 года назад +1

      For me personally the top of the stock is the same height than the collarbone (clavicle). So the stock is mostly below the bone. However this is not any absolute guide for anyone else, because we are all different. The height of the cheek bone and neck will affect where the head and therefore, the stock will be.
