- When it comes to military surplus collections, nobody would be inclined to sell. But certain life circumstances could happen and force you to sell your collection or most of it. In this video I go over the top five military surplus rifles. I would keep in my collection if I was forced for some reason to sell, mostly everything. Let me know what you guys think.

Well, I had a life altering situation... and I had to sell off most of my collection... and my "keeps" were very similar to yours....
My 5 in order (1 being the last I'd sell, 5 being the one that barely made it on this list):
1. M1910 Costa Rican Contract Mauser (I'm Costa Rican so this one is a no brainer)
2. Gewehr 98 (w/ trench mud cover!)
3. M1917 "American Enfield" (German inspired action + British design + American manufacturing + .30-06 = YES)
4. Swedish Mauser M96 (If you know, you know)
5. Egyptian Hakim Rifle (Super exotic and weird, and a joy to shoot)
Good call! ❤
Oh yes to the M96. Not the most collectible or sought after, but holy shit can they drive nails. I absolutely love mine.
That Gewehr 98 is definitely a keeper with the protective cover. Great list 💯
The ones with all-matching numbers: Kar98k, Arisaka T99, 91/30, LE No1 Mk III*, and the Garand.....
My 5-Gun List:
1) M1 Garand
2) Finnish M39
3) Swiss K11
4) Enfield No 4 Mk1
5) (Sporterized) Kraig
1. Danish M1 Garand
2. Swiss K31
3. Swedish M96
4 Swedish M38
5. K98
The Garands in the Philippines were stored improperly and were neglected for decades.
Not because we hung onto them as a main service rifle.
I love all the rifles you chose but one (keep the M1 C. dump the Carcano. OK make it top 6!). I think I would keep the riles with more readily available ammo (except my Krag, it's LUV)
1. M1 Carbine
2. K98 Mauser
3. 1903a3 Springfield
4. N0.1 MkIII Enfield
5. Krag Jorgensen...
6. SKS
Keep the Garands, Carbine , and my enfields
That would be hard, especially since that's most of my collection (I have 15 total). For me, it would be:
1) Ethiopian FN M1930 Mauser
2) Mannlicher M1895/30
3) Star Model 30
4) Steyr-Hahn M1912
5) Star Model B
1898 Krag Jorgensen, Lee Enfield Mark 4 No 1, Rock Island 1903, M44 Mosin Nagant, Swiss K31, German K98, sorry that’s 6!
Lol
No4 Mk1
Winchester Dec 43 Garand
03a3
K98
Lee Enfield no1mk3 DOB 1917
M44 mosin Chinese
Garand and Enfield I had to specify my specific ones, I have several
Remarkably the k98 and m44 were birthday gifts from my mom on different years
Ive had a lot of people tell me the mosin was good enough for the white death, so its good enough for them in modern times. Its not the arrow, its the Indian
Welp.. the white death wouldnt be famous if IR and thermals existed back then
Happened to me back in 2017, Huge medical bills from disability.
My condolences, must have been tough!😢
Ah man I e always wanted a Kraig. But my top five
Schmidt Reuben k31
M1 garand
98 gewer
Springfield trapdoor
M16a1
My 5 choices in no particular order would be the M1 Carbine, M1 Garand, Enfield No4 Mk1, Krag-Jorgensen rifle, and the 28-30 Mosin Nagant. There are many other honorable mentions to this list, but I have made my choices.
Ahh yes my list of honors mentions would be huge… but those five I really enjoy the most.
K31
Swede M96
Mint No4 Mk2
Krag
K11
Couldn’t get rid of them
K31, G96/11, my P-38/01 Walther pistol, Mosin 91/30, (sks and Cetme C, depending on California gun law bs)
1 my first gun ever my m44 mosin my dad gave me
2 my m76 yugo dmr. Took me a year to hunt one down at a fair price.
3 my svt 40 same reasons as 2
4 my first m1 garand. I spent 3 hours at the cmp store picking it out.
5 my spanish civil war gewehr 98m. Have only seen 1 other of those rifles for sale in person. Very clean surplus from Spain with some history and the nice updated sights.
Very cool
M1 Garand, No.1 Mk 3 Enfield, M1940 Carcano Truppe Especiale in 6.5, 03A3 with “C” stock, M1Carbine (for wife😃)
The five milsurp rifles I'd keep would be my Type 99 Short-Rifle, Lee-Enfield No.1 Mk.III, Mosin-Nagant M-44 Carbine, Type 56 SKS, and my Zastava M59/66-A1 SKS. A little bit from all over the world.
Nice!
I am currently going about selling all my stuff and reinvest in my dividend retirement account. No family, no heirs no one wants my stuff.
Smart move, I’m sure that’s something I will have to think about when I get in my later stages in life.
M1 Garand, Chinese type 56 SKS, Finnish M39, Arisaka type 99, Enfield#4 mk1*
I actually basically did this over the last two years
- Bulgarian ((10)) AK-74 Kit Build
- Bulgarian ((10)) Makarov
- Russian Double Stack Makarov
- H&K USP Compact
- Glock 19 Gen 2
So, this is pre-68? If so, keep favorite SKS, M1 Garand, favorite K98, M1 Carbine, Enfield mk1 no4
If open to any year up to modern, SKS , AK, AR, Taurus GX4, Beretta 92S
Only get to keep five in my collection? I'm good to go then. I don't have many.
Nice!
5 M1917-4 1889 Mauser-3 Rock Island 1903-2 M1 rifle-M1 carbine
Envy you the Belgium Mauser. One of my favorites.
I've kinda given up collecting milsurps, my pockets are deep enough for the prices anymore
That got me in the feels. I splooged for my birthday and got an M48A Mauser to replace my first I gifted many years ago. Price more than doubled than what I paid for the first one. Major ouch but still glad I got it.
Hearing you in spades!
Mine could change, but I'd say, M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, Eddystone, Enfield #4 Mk1, Swedish M96
1. M1 Garand
2. Type 99 Arisaka
3. M1 Carbine
4. Thompson
5. Steyr M95 M
Ooooo Thompson 👍
I could never part way with my No.1 Mk3 SMLE Lee Enfield. Beautiful rifle
I know, it would definitely be hard to part with my No1 MkIII’s
Great Vibe
Nice Casual Talk
Good Topics and Cute Fire Sticks
lol
Russian Winchester 1895, RIC Enfield Carbine, 1896 Krag carbine, German capture Lebel, Boer Mauser
I've been looking for a Boer mauser. Super hard to find
Im surprised you didnt say gewehr 98! My order would be 1903 speingfield, m91/30 mosin, k11 swiss, german k98k, finally my all time favorite gewehr 98
My Gewehr 98 is very unique but it would be an honorable mention
Auctioned off 350 military arms civil war to Korean War era and civilian old west firearms. I had been collecting since I was 18 and had to part with them at 58. Medical bills.
My condolences for your loss!
What a grand collection! Sorry to hear that though
Here’s my list: (1 being the top, 5 being the lowest) that I would never sell
1. SVT-40
2. Remington 03A3
3. M1 Garand
4. M1 Carbine
5. Sako M39
If I had to add an honorable mention, it would be my 91/30 as it was my first milsurp and what started the addiction for me. Couldn’t ever part with that.
Nice! Yea it’s hard to part with any of those… the M1 Carbine almost made my list
@@BattlefieldCurator I was honestly on the fence about adding the Carbine to mine as well. I think if I had to substitute anything from this list, I’d say drop the Carbine and maybe add a Swedish m/96, I still struggle to find a milsurp that shoot as nicely as those
Nah, that's not a "what if" I want to think about..
My 5…..1903A1……SKS…….M1 Garand and BM59SL……AMD65
Hmmm AMD65… I kinda want one of those. Some Sierra Leon guys we had with us downrange used them.
@@BattlefieldCurator Assembled mine from a Hungarian kit, in 2013, using a Noveske receiver. Think that I am only into the gun for a little less than 500 (All other parts, incl). I added a cheek support rail to the folding stock, which is really great.
1 Svt40
2m48 (sentimental)
3 fg42 repro
4 snider enfield
5 Type 38 carbine
Snider Enfield is an interesting one. They are actually pretty cool imo
Does royal tiger have a actual store you can go buy from in Florida or is it just a warehouse?
A warehouse, you can only buy from their website
So hard😂
Lithgow No1 Mklll* Sniper Rifle
Long Lee Enfield
No4 Mk2 Enfield
M1917
WZ44
Do civil war cannons count?
Sure lol
Finnish M39
M1A
M1 GARAND
SVT 40
FAL
FINNISH MODEL 39
Honorable Mention
K 31
K98
1896 Finnish Mauser
Mas 45
Model 1922
1917 Enfield
It's called the US Springfield Model 1892/1896/1898 produced by talented gunsmiths at the Springfield Arsenal. Stop calling it a Krag Jorgensen. Those were the designers. At no point did you correctly call it a Springfield rifle.
❤ I would Never Sell any Military Rifles.
What would be guns you would sell first?
Depends on who would buy them first. I’m sure people would snag up the SKS and M1 Carbines immediately.
Gwayer M.95
Existentially The Best European Bolt Action
*Yes, I Know, Gewehr, This Is Better*
Nobody mentioned a 91-30 Mosin’s
I wonder why…..😄😄😄😄
k98 k98 k98 k98 k98
The Carcano is the crappiest military bolt action rifle ever, of all time.
carcanos really aren’t that bad, contrary to the bad reputation that most of everyone seems to believe
My M39 would be my number one choice.
A good choice indeed 😎
