Hey guys! I come from Bremer County, and the one tornado that began south of Waverly was about a mile away or less from me as it was between Denver and Readlyn. I looked out the window when my cat went upstairs and I had to get him, and could barely make out the tornado. Thankfully, we made it out without damage. I am thankful for the work you do, and wish you good luck on your next chase!
My son was working in the west end of Lake City when it hit, and you were filming from south of town. The bus barn next to where he works ended up with a collapsed roof. I was in the basement in Lohrville, or, as you said it: "L-O-H-R-V-I-L-L-E," with my wife and eight of my kids, and, at least briefly, five of the neighbors who don't have a basement. .Went north of us, though, thankfully. The closest hit was a couple of miles northwest of town, actually. One last thing: I know this whole area so well, I instantly recognized the gas station where you put the drone up early in the video. Moville, Iowa, in Woodbury County. :-)
My grandmother lives in Sioux City. I was simultaneously watching near there the whole day. I’m so glad no one was hurt. It’s kind of a paradox was chasing storms: I love to see them, and hope to see them, yet also hope they don’t do any damage or even worse. Some people don’t understand that and I guess it’s hard to explain to those folks…. I’m glad you were missed 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
This is one time I was glad I couldn’t sleep and turned on RUclips!!! Great video and filming, and you guys used music in the right way!! I hate to say I enjoyed this, considering what was happening, but I did! I live in Tenn, and you can’t see them coming, especially since they come a lot at night. And a lot of mountain and trees. I live in a bad place for tornadoes, lost my home in 2016, and had several more tornadoes so close to me. Last year was bad. The EF3-4 that hit Nashville, then Easter Sunday Chattanooga Tenn was hit hard. I live close to Chatt, and there were 2 directly over me, but thank God they did no damage around me, It hit where there where no homes or business. Not many videos or hardly no pictures around here, just plenty of pictures of the damage. You guys stay safe and God bless🙏🙏🙏
We just had several tornados in Michigan tonight, opened RUclips without even talking about tornados and it recommends me this. Normally don't watch these sorts of videos, only have briefly five years ago.

@@RyanMaukStormChaser My fiance lived in Clinton Iowa when it got hit. They didn't have power or cell service for nearly a week. I WAS DRIVING UP FROM HOU. TX. TO DECORAH THAT DAY! MAYBE 30 MIN. AHEAD OF THE WORST...IT WAS SCARY! ON THE WAY BACK, COULDN'T BELIEVE THE CROP AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.
I was watching the conditions during the day, this is what the maps were saying. Cape: ranging from 3000 J/kg to 5000 in southern and central Iowa Dew point: low 70s Lifted index: -6 to -10 (this was quite impressive) Helicity: 150 to 230 I don’t remember what the wind shear was but just by those metrics I knew conditions were ripe for supercells. Saw some pretty mean looking velocity couplets. Now I’m definitely an amateur and I’m just kind of getting into this stuff but that was a great atmospheric setup. Also great footage.
I forgot to add, the ending of your video was precious. You have a beautiful family. May God keep you all safe, and keep you safe for them. Blessings to you❤️🙏🙏🙏

Man I wish we got this kind of weather in Massachusetts. I literally am so desperate I will go chase severe thunderstorm warned storms since we rarely get tornado warnings.
A good day, and another "Iowa July surprise" (three of the last five years!) in which one of the two of my chase partner and I were out "adulting" on a Colorado vacation created by a family patriarch who ironically thought scheduling in July would be nice, being after the traditional storm season. Hence, I was rarely chasing alone in my own car, expecting what the last few 5% days had been: tons of almosts and whatsits with 5 seconds of one tornado occurring on the storm I did not pick. As is usually the case in Iowa in late June or July over many of the past fourteen years I've chased - especially in 2017, 2018 and now in 2021, and many times earlier last decade being in mod or high risks in Illinois or some other state while watching action in Iowa as I was busting hard - boy was I wrong. I didn't get the storm everyone else got in Lake City, which was my first target before deciding to CAM-chase the incredibly consistently predicted cell AOA somewhere north of Waterloo on nearly every run on the HRRR as the morning wore on, one that would actually materialize and dump 16 minutes' worth of tornado action exactly where predicted mere miles north of Cedar Falls at 5:30 PM. But I did not see that storm. Instead, heading to the target area an hour early as is my normal wont, I decided to detour slightly off road to the tor-warned cell at Jewell just off I-35. Whatever microscale feature caused Lake City hit that cell and set it spinning, first producing a brief multivortex prior to recycling and then putting down a photogenic tube that lasted nearly ten minutes longer than the current damage report from KDMX says. It was a beautiful, lawn-chair tornado that affected nothing. Perfect ropeout. Reminded me of Illinois warm front magic. I decided to wind my way over to my original target after that, following the next storm behind it down the side road to south of Iowa Falls, still contemplating a trip over to Waterloo when I pulled over to report on the wall cloud I'd been watching, which had just dropped a funnel about three-quarters to the ground. Stuck in a bit of mud, I turned my car and began to slowly pull out of the unexpected muck, being careful to angle my wheels properly and not spin my wheels and get in a truly bad situation that would end my day with that dreadful after-hours one-yard tow. Then my car **caught on fire.** I still do not know how, why, or what caused it to do so, only that it was probably a design flaw in my make and model (2018 Ford Escape) where the underbelly of the catalytic converter heats up to 1600 degrees - not good for (a) the tall grass the mud was hidden in; (b) the gusting winds into the regenerating wall cloud right in front of my eyes. I just escaped the car with my wallet, asthma breather, phone and life before the flames went over the bottom of the car and started to lick the windshield. Within mere seconds the whole front end was engulfed. I'd won the battle of 2021 at long last, but lost the war - and I'll be dealing with this aftermath for a long, long time. But at least it happened **after** the epic video I caught near Jewell.

@@RyanMaukStormChaser Sorry. I guess I paid more attention to the verbal back & forth than to the direction the car was traveling. It sounds as if not much was settled on - maybe I misheard. But to me you sounded rather “urgent” and excited, perhaps “rushed.”
@@mousiebrown1747 well yes. There was a tornado planting very close to us. We had to decide very quickly whether to jot ahead or stay put - safety considered first, but also factoring in the view It gets hectic.
Bro. You know cars have mirrors right? This is honestly the lamest trolling I think I’ve ever seen. You sound like the 7th grade redhead bully kid that sits in the back of the bus & doesn’t know who his real father is. All he has is the cigarettes he stole from his mom, and wisecracks they only he himself laughs at. Nobody else laughs. Nobody cares
Awful as compared to what exactly? Wind-distorted microphones hanging out of a car window? No. It will stay. I’m not out here making the same old highlight reels, I like it, I feel that it gives it a certain depth, so as far as creative input, that’s where it stops. I mean imagine liking cars and being even super enthusiastic about them…then after seeing a few cars you go tell the painter how he should spray candy…. Food for thought.
In winds like that I did my best standing on my tire with the camera on my roof rack to see over the corn…..plus I sure as hell don’t have time to break out a tripod in that situation.
“Iowa does Iowa things.” Facts! We can be in a drought, break a precipitation record, and have historic highs and lows all in one week in January.

So cool, love this video 😃😇
Thank you for watching 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
this was on my birthday o.o
wow....happy...birthday?!
@@RyanMaukStormChaser Haha ty. Yeah these storms get scary. But like many, I have a high respect to dangerous things in nature from weather to animals.
the 'erie' sounds/music is very distracting...
༼ ºل͟º ༽
Wow.
Indeed. thanks for watching
The guy that kept screaming was giving a headache, u guys are storm chasers not scream chasers. Good job locating but remain calm as a storm chasers thats also you're duty especially if you are recording
Your uncredentialed opinion from the comfort of your home is so appreciated 😂
Thanks for watching 👍🏽
@@RyanMaukStormChaser thanks I learned it by the real storm chasers, it truly shows how you take opinion of others 😀 😄 👍
Look Boomer, You have no opinion 😂 that’s the thing. I mean you do. Everyone does. Just doesn’t matter much that’s all
I dont feel these guys are at all pros. I live in central Iowa. The yelling dude sounded like David on Schitts Creek. "LieIowa"? We are always in the top 10 states for tornadoes. But we aren't in the plains, so harded to see cuz of trees and hills and bluffs. Unfortunately with a higher population than those states more people actually die when we get the dangerous ones.
Yeah well I’m not a “pro” and idgaf what you think either. Just click thumbs down and move along then 🤷🏻♂️
Remind me not to let the kids watch this. Too many "oh S**ts"
Yeah that’s not a bad idea
Lots of kids watch tornado videos. Please watch ur language.
In the situation, it was warranted. But you’re right I should place a warning ⚠️
There is a tornado on the ground, I don’t know what city in Iowa
yeah i forgot the town for a moment. It happens the older you get :)
Huge? Well it's going to be ! Damage in the field? It's a f 12 ! I'm a wind chaser! 😆🤣😂😹😆🤣😂😹😆🤣😂😹😆
Get laid bro
The music is terribly annoying and drives out the conversation
I don't like Dijon Mustard
......oh...I'm sorry, I thought were were talking about opinions that don't matter
@@RyanMaukStormChaser BOOM 💥
Why Lieowa, if you hate it so much, don't chase here!!!
Read description, its refering to the weather patterns being deceptive.
Yeah thats why Iowa is one of the love hate relationship states with storm chasers
@@alreed2434 no joke either! 😂
Question?
3 min. of one fingering a piano was enough.
I will decide that. Not you.
That's some good shit.
🫡🫡🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 thanks !!!
Y’all guys got zero “situational awareness.”
Really? Weird. I thought we trained out our situation pretty with an escape route being the first priority
Did y’all guys even watch y’all?
@@RyanMaukStormChaser Sorry. I guess I paid more attention to the verbal back & forth than to the direction the car was traveling. It sounds as if not much was settled on - maybe I misheard. But to me you sounded rather “urgent” and excited, perhaps “rushed.”
@@mousiebrown1747 well yes. There was a tornado planting very close to us. We had to decide very quickly whether to jot ahead or stay put - safety considered first, but also factoring in the view
It gets hectic.
Stopped in the middle of highway? Pull over or someone will hit you from behind
Big funnel lol
5.50 big tornado! Lol multi vortex lol debris? Lol need to go back to school on you tube lol damage in the air? Big tornado in town 😆🤣😂😹😆🤣😂😹😆🤣😂😹😆
People around here still remember the 25th of May, 2008, when an EF5 came through & killed 9 people. So, yeah..we can get some big ones here.
Did you have a stroke or something?
Great video but please please get rid of the music/sound effects! It’s awful! But awesome video!
This bullshit drama.
Pecos Hank: Yeah, they don't have self-control and discipline.
Oh Pecos Hank said that huh? Shucks 😂
Word to the camera operator.......Be still!!!! Hold the camera still, you are making the audience sea sick.
In winds like that I did my best standing on my tire with the camera on my roof rack to see over the corn…..plus I sure as hell don’t have time to break out a tripod in that situation.
