The gel surfactant looks like SLES, which means the thickener could be cooking salt which is far more cheaper. Nice DIY recipe.
Actually most likely the thickener is borax witch is used i allot of other soaps
You should use NaCl
It's actually industrial salt, very different from cooking or table salt

I followed recipe exactly and result was great. After few days the beautiful green became brown. Why.
You may need to add a chemical preservative
you may add sodium benzoate, but even though im not using preservative i didn't encounter this, may be check your colorant too :)
