Once it's gone, the chances of your relationship continuing happily ever after are next to none. It goes both ways too, I can't trust someone if they don't trust me. At that point there's nothing left to salvage from the relationship. Taking a break and gaining each other's trust back is the only way to recover from that.

Once it's gone, the chances of your relationship continuing happily ever after are next to none. It goes both ways too, I can't trust someone if they don't trust me. Ok, I went through this exact thing. The only time in any relationship I “snooped” I actually found text messages. It sucks to feel trust issues, and then you actually find proof. I don’t recommend “spying,” it never ends well.
Why? You were right. Go with your gut. Snooping is bad of course, but if you’re with a good person you won’t have to snoop. If you hadn’t you would’ve continued to be cheated on or whatever and have no idea.
But if you didn't see the messages, you won't get out of that relationship sooner. It's better to find the truth than to keep the lie going.
