I grew up next to a family of Steiners here in the USA, We lived in a community called little Berlin, because all were some type of German, A couple of years back I was buying fruit trees, and the manager at the big Home and Garden Center, said all he had left, were Steiner Apples, so I bought two, planted them, and in two years, I started getting Steiners Apples, Which were the common purple plums, grown by my old neighbors the Steiners, I knew, I was had, that manager had married a Steiner Daughter, He knew who I was, but I didn't remember him. He is probably still laughing at me today? He wasn't a Steiner but married a Steiner. How he recognized me after 40 years, I'll never know? When I went to College, is when I found out that I had a German accent, I didn't know, I had one? They said how long have you been in the U.S. they asked? Your English is quite good. And I got mad, and said Oh I am a fast learner. That was when I found out I had an accent. But we never knew it. Real nice tour of Tirol.

The land is unbelievably beautiful, the people are great, but when you are close to starving every spring, hope drives people to migrate. Nowadays? I would wonder as well. Austrian Alps are a very special place on Earth and I am always happy to return there to the nature, the people, the food, the history...
