  • Barn Memories is an oral history project completed by the Appalachian Barn Alliance (appalachianbar...) and sponsored by the Hart Family Fund for Small Towns of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The project involved interviews with long-time residents of Madison County, NC, all reminiscing about their most cherished barn memories. This interview is one of ten collected during this endeavor.
Terry Wyatt and his wife Louise Cody Wyatt are both natives of the Ebbs Chapel community of Madison County, having grown up on Little Creek and Bear Branch, respectively. Like most mountain farm youth, their days were filled with creative barnyard games, hard but fulfilling work on the farm, and stories of the family barn and the activity around it. Louise has worked for the Wolf Laurel resort community since 1980. Terry is retired, having been a rural mail carrier for 33 years. Interviewed September 2022.
