I recently found your channel on my journey of transitioning my menace of a monstera and other aroids to moss poles! It's been awesome seeing you come out of your shell from older to newer uploads. Your enthusiasm shows and spreads the best vibes, not to mention all the helpful info and stunning plants in the background! :)
I just got my first albo today! I bought a single node cutting, but the seller accidentally double sold that cutting so they upgraded me to an established cutting with great roots and an unfurling baby leaf 😍 So lucky!
@ohrats731 CONGRATS 🍾 Where did you purchase your Albo cutting? If you don’t mind me asking… I just got and am loving my first Thai Con 😇💚 Now I am interested in owning an albo to extend my collection!🤞 However, I am struggling to find a reputable and reasonable seller. Your insight would be much appreciated 😇 Thank you!
I find it so cool that you have suhc a large plant and such a little pot! You made me realise my current monstera is in a pot waaaay too big- he's just pushing out roots.
I had wrote you on your Q&A last one you had and this was 1 of my 2 questions I asked you on Instagram!! And here goes the video!! Regardless if you made it from the question I asked, this RUclips video answered all my Questions on Chop and Extend!! Thanks !!😃👍💚
Your new place is looking so beautiful! I love how the greenhouse and surrounding plants frame the videos so well. I am also a fan of the name “upside down water bottle technique,” I use the same for my poles haha. I’m looking forward to seeing how your albo will look in the future!
Wow! I just put my albo on a moss pole last week. The aerial roots are voracious! Almost instantly digging in. It's just incredible. Im excited to see the possibilities. Thank you for your lessons!! 💚 #priceless
Love how your videos inspire my plant journey. Just made my first moss pole! Happy days! 🎉 It was a huge mess but I have visions of giant Jan leaves coming soon
Always such good info and inspiration! I thought I'd nearly pass out with the chop, but that root system is the magic. LOVE watching your videos and catching up to what's next. All the best!
This was quite helpful! May I have two moss poles and it’s definitely been a learning curve, but my queen marble is getting to the top of her first pole so I will add a second soon. Thanks for the knowledge and inspiration!
I have bought my first monstera, it has pups. So today im thinking of splitting them and repotting them. You have converted me to the moss pole. I'll make one for it/them as I see the benefit for the plant and maintenance and future pruning.
Thanks Jan. We've got a p verrucosum that we're undecided on where to go with as it has 4 stems that have reached beyond the top of the moss pole. This video will help us make up our minds, I'm sure...I hope😁
Thanks, Jan. Can I call you that? Ha ha ha. I’ve watched all your other videos regarding chop and extend… so I don’t know how it is that I learn something new every time you talk about it. Very informative.
I just bit the bullet and brought home a Thai constellation, it’s almost ready for a pole now, can’t wait. I love that the variegation is textured, made me wonder how variegated species came about, maybe it started as a bacterial or fungus problem.. I dunno but it’s beautiful
I watched both of your videos on your soil mix, actually a few times each. But I’m curious what’s your most current and updated to-go and most favorite mix. For example, what’s on the one you used for this repot? Thanks!!
It always changes based on the ingredients I have available :) the ingredients always stay the same but I don’t have them all stocked all the time :) as long as the end result has a combination of aeration, drainage & water/nutrient retention it will be a hit :)
this is just the inspiration that i needed! can't wait for my thai con, variegated peru + swiss cheese to reach the tops of their poles so i can use your tips. can't get over how gorgeous your plant + new backdrop are, great work!
Question for an expert! If you were to place a divider of some sort between the two poles to avoid roots growing into the lower pole from the pole above, would that be detrimental to the roots? Would restricting their ability to grow down naturally give you smaller/weaker roots? Trying to be cheeky (lazy) with my future massive plants thanks to you 😊😂
Interesting question 👍 Are you thinking something like fly screen that's course enough to allow water through, but fine enough to stop roots . Hope you'll pass on results if you give it a try. 🙂
Great video again, thanks 🙏 Learned a lot, but was a bit distracted when a very essential someone didn't show up. Where was Brad?? 😻 Just got so used to him in every video it feels like it was incomplete. Well, it wasn't of course. You did a great job. Looking forward to the next ones, hopefully with the fury supervisor
Je 🤞 pour que le haut de la monstera active suffisemment rapidement ses racines aèriennes. Cette plante, de toutes façons, est superbement panachée 🤩 Merci pour cette vidéo "risque-tout" ! 🍀
i have been using your tips on moss poles on my albo monstera as well and your plants are such great inspiration! my individual poles are not as big as yours but i have already extended it 2 times! keep up the awesome work! love your videos!
Quick question: Should this be done during the growing season (aka spring) or (slightly) before it to give plants time to cope with stress and reestablish and be ready to fire new shoots once the growing season start?
I do it once it reached the top, irrespective of the time of the year but it also depends on the conditions you’ve got to offer. It does induce a bit of shock so you don’t want suboptimal conditions to make it worse. If you’re concerned, stick to the same guidelines you’d use for any other repot :)
I purchased a Monstera Delicioso from amazon. it looked dreadful upon arrival but is producing new leaves prolifically. The issue is, I repotted it upon receipt but I'm sure the front of the plants, there are two) are facing each other. Should I replant to get them in the correct position so they can be supported on a moss pole?
Obviously there is water left in the heavy decorative pot after watering , do u leave it there ? I have made 12 moss poles , all looking good so far , what size bottles do u use , litre ones to heavy ?.. Thank you for all your videos I am addicted,
My local garden center where i buy my plants only sells multiple monsteras in one pot. I want to put mine on a moss pole but don't know what to do with the other ones. So i was wondering how two monsteras would do sharing one pole? would it get bushier or would they compete and dont grow as large? 🤔
They can definitely share a pole but u’ll most likely see one outperform the other :) not a bad thing… just depends in what aesthetic preference you have :)
Just found your channel. I recently heard of “notching” monsteras. Similar to this concept but with less established mosspole root systems, i’ve heard to “notch” the stem at the places you did full cuts. Is this a god idea to make smaller plants more full?
Thanks for reminding me my albo monstera is waiting for a moss pole, along with 2 Thai cons. The debate continues here on whether we do moss or wood plank, or absolutely nothing to keep this jungle in check 😹
I’ve been having such a tough time getting my andisonii to grab onto my moss pole. I have it positioned correctly, tied in specific points and I may occasionally let the moss dry out. It’s half way up my 2nd extension and no roots through the pole. Any tips?
MM interesting, is it growing well in general?! i.e. is it sizing up in leaf size? It's most likely a conditions thing - try more light (without burning it) and if you have the ability to, higher humidity.
It going droopy might be a sign that it didn’t have enough roots to support the size of the cutting. Was is thoroughly rooted into the pole before the cut? Your priority now should be establishing a healthy root system so be careful with too much water. If the plant can’t absorb that water due to insufficient roots u might cause rot. Try and provide it the best possible conditions
If the plant has reverted you can try and get the variegation back by propagating. But I’d wait toll the plant has produced a couple of reverted leaves in a row :)

yes you can put a small notch about 1/3rd of the way into the stem between nodes you 3ant to activate. usually it will be 1-3 nodes activated below the notch, and the one above often too, if it's not already.
Ty for the vd. If i keep the bottom pole whole & add a new extension will i have to worry about rot of roots that were cut. You mentioned something about it but didnt quit understand. Ty 💜🪴

Is it necessary to rotate the plant regularly so that all sides of the plant receives light?
Depends on the look you are going for. Suppose aesthetic preference
