That Tea Colored Caloosahatchee River water is unique. Brackish ... yet holds mostly Salt water fish. The Lake Okeechobee Trash water running into the River it is Ruining this fishery. The Army Corp has completely FAILED protecting the River.

Uggghhhh I wouldn't eat those fish. That water is so polluted. I remember schools of reds rush 30-40 strong big reds. I remember black drum along the old Edison Bridge. The Caloosahatchee CANAL it is not a river it was dredged.
I remember using nets along the 41 bridge and catching shrimp and finger mullets. I remember the school of mullet 250 to 300 fish.
No more. Between over pressure and the pollution that comes from the Kissimmee waterway, and is made worse as it passes Labelle, Lehigh, Ft. Myers Cape Coral etc etc.
Do you realize how much oil gas fertilizer pesticides herbicides pharmaceutical drugs ended up in the water from Ian? I wouldnt even touch that water, not yet.
I did work on the beach doing hurricane recovery, you are right there is still a massive effort to fix what was destroyed. It makes me realize that the efforts of Katrina were a joke and the people of Louisiana should be ready to stomp the shit out of politicians.
