  • Dubrovnik City Walls are the reason Dubrovnik was named a UNESCO heritage site and are so perfectly preserved. There are many medieval fortresses throughout the world that have unique histories certainly, but very few have such stunning views, unique cafes, and hidden areas within them that house museums, statues, shops, and more like the City Walls of Dubrovnik.

One detail that you missed is that Ragusa / Dubrovnik (a country back then) was the first country in the world that has recognized USA.

Did you find the language barrier an issue in the city? Me and my partner are thinking of going but don't speak a word of the language!

There always seemed to be someone who spoke English somewhere, I just make sure I have Google translate downloaded and take a paper with the basics on it just in case there isn’t any internet 🛜 like where is the bathroom, I have an allergy to, how much is it, can you point me in the direction of, thank you, please, hello, goodbye, where is the best place to eat here, where can I find a taxi, and any other tidbits that you might run into or have questions about before leaving for your trip because I have an allergy to bell peppers and paprika. I always make sure to have that on a paper I take with me everywhere, along with the bathroom lol. I don’t recall ever worrying about if someone else who was traveling there would have an issue. They get so many tourists that most of the people there end up speaking several languages or at least the very basics. I hope you have an amazing time and let me know how it goes!

I found that using the Google translate photo is super useful as well. If you were sitting down at a restaurant to eat, if you don’t know how to use that function just look it up on RUclips. It’s hard to explain through text.
