Vulcan Omnipro 220 Bites the Dust!! In less than 1 year

- I made a big mistake about being charged a restocking fee from returning the Vulcan Omnipro to Harbor freight and if you're interested in more information you can find it here.
• I Made A Big Mistake A...
I purchased this Vulcan Omnipro 220 from Harbor Freight Tools less than 1 year ago and it has completely fried out. Will Harbor Freight stand behind their 1 year risk free trial? I take it to Harbor Freight and try to get a refund or to swap it out with a new Vulcan Omnipro 220 or the Titanium Welder.

Anyone else have any problems out of the Vulcan Welders? I made a big mistake in this video and the information is inaccurate I was not charged a restocking fee and you can find the information out here if you would like. ruclips.net/video/JO6nFaxTLgI/видео.html
I havent but I've used only Lincoln and Miller's. I plan on buying the titanium 170 or 220
I had the same thing happen to me about 2 months after original purchase. Luckily my buddy has a motor repair shop here in vegas and I had him look at at it. A 13$ fuse later I've been up and running with no issues for about 6 months. I would be hot if i were you though brother no risk should be no risk. Sounds like you got a crappy manager.
I've had mine about 13 months. So issues yet. *knock on wood*. I don't use it often though. Seems like the power switch could have issues, thats the first thing I'd check on yours...too late though. DO NOT LET THEM CHARGE YOY THE RESTOCKING FEE. EMAIL CORPORATE! Then redo update the video!
Larry Dolkins the warranty would’ve cost more than he lost.
Brother I have the same one for at least 2 years now in my shop and I beet the F out of her and she is doing well.
Restocking fees are for the return of working products. Non-working products are not restocked and resold. You got taken.
My USA made Hobart didn't last 2 months with only 3 uses. It happens.
I haven't had the chance to use the Vulcan welders yet but thanks for the heads up I may choose something else now.
Ive had mine for 1.5 years with heavy hobby use. Still going strong with no issues.
Sorry about that man😮, ive viewed afew other reviews that welder so far has lasted up to 2 years , i have one too its been 9 months of continuous usage ...still working like New 😊
Damn it, That Sucks. I hate to hear that. Thanks Again Brian!
Restocking fee on a damaged tool being returned? Wtf
So you rented a welder for $160. 10 months that’s $16 per month, or $4 per week. Not bad. Sucks having to pay that fee but at least you’re not out almost $1000. Lesson I learned long time ago: You can’t take the HF out the HF. I use them for basic stuff, like hand tools, and that’s about it. Thank you for the video brotha!
Every single welding machine review I’ve seen has people that love the machine and others that got bad luck. I have concluded that some individual machines from any brand just poop out.
This not about the vulcans welder. I had same issues at harbor freight store. I was looking to buy a 56" tool box. At the store they dont have it in stock. They look in the system to see if other stores near by have it. None of them have it. So, after driving through next few towns. I stop a another harbor freight store I find them in stock. A bundle of them. Sometime harbor freight worker just not looking good enough or the system is not updated. I have one question about the vulcans welder. What the cost of 2 yrs protection plan vs. $160 Re-stock fee? Thank
You do realize the pandemic has caused a lot of shortages on the worldwide supply chain, especially items coming from China. Under a normal pre-pandemic situation, I believe supply would not have been an issue. Also, Vulcan would not be the only one affected, because now all welders in this price point are manufactured in China or other Asian countries. Also, your the first person to ever to report a failure that I've seen on this welder, which is unfortunate, but is a pretty good track record considering no product should have the expectation of being perfect.
Uh I know there is a pandemic and havent seen any other stores out of anything like Harbor Freight to be honest and the vulcan welders arent made in China I believe. And while things may be bad around the world it still doesnt excuse a welder having light use and breaking down after 10 months and having spent 900 dollars I lost 160 dollars because it would take months to replace the welder. While i can understand if it isnt there then it isnt there I shouldnt have been put in the situation. You're right tho I havent heard many bad things but I also dont know the people that have them and the frequency they use them some may have them just sitting around but like i said in the video maybe i got a dudd but if a company offers a risk free trial but then charges you 160 dollars because their machine didnt last isnt very good and isnt smart especially if it happens to others. I have wasted a lot of time driving to get, return, and now to find a new welder as well. I gave it a shot but will probably get an esab
@@RedemptionGarage I agree that charging a restocking fee when they advertise a risk-free trial is not right. And I wouldn't be happy if I was in your situation either. But If not for the pandemic I think you would have came back home with a new Vulcan welder. I'm also sure that there have been Lincoln's, Miller's and Esab's that have failed, and expecting a Vulcan to never fail is not realistic.
Hello I just bought one tonight I wish I had found this video before I bought it and now its 90days so I bought the 2yr warranty. The video help so I mite take it back, it took 1mo to even find one in my city so maybe they are fixing the problems with welders so they last long I hope ill think it over the night to see if I keep it.
This could have been a 30 second video.
they have great return policy!! always purchase the 2 yr warranty with these things at harbor freight..
O but bear says its the best..😂🤣
The bear has a toaster oven on his Icon box, that should tell you all you need to know.
I had to swap two 220’s out already.
The question i would ask is, how much did you use it, was it a daily thing, and all day, or a more home owner thing where maybe once a week you worked with it for a hour or two. While it shouldn't have failed in 10 months, the answer to the question changes the outlook on the welder dramatically. And at least as i can see in your comment, you were not charged a restock fee so you did get all your money back. Maybe try the titanium 200 next time, see if it works any better or at least longer?
I have heard the Vulcan line initially had the 1 year as opposed to the 90 day for all other items but HF has changed it to 3 months like the Titanium and others. I would assume this is for folks who bought the 220 after the change. Something to consider or confirm if you get another. I have the Titanium 170 but i'm thinking about upgrading to the 220 for stick and Tig. If i do, i plan on getting the 3 year warranty.
I have seen several of the Vulcan welders come back and stopped working like yours. I don't plan on getting one because of the amount of welders being returned.
I was thinking of buying one today. You have me rethinking this. If they had one to exchange would there still be a restocking fee?
I just bought an Omnipro 220 today and all it does when I turn it on is run the fan and show the startup screen, that's it. I can't get it to do anything. It's stuck running the fan and the startup screen.....
Mine just burnt out. Lasted about 4 years. Looking to learn to fix it but not finding a lot of info
$1000 ? Damn! My Lincoln MP 210 cost me $1000. Of course, that was a couple of years ago and on sale, but it's still chugging along.
I just got one, paid $1500, very happy with this welder. They have gone up in price.
Yeah Harbor Freight mastered fine print. I’ll bet after that big bold “Risk Free Trial” there was a paragraph long fine print saying you get up to 80% of your money back.
On a side note have you noticed since HF went digital catalog the 20% coupon was deleted
My receipt has nothing about a restocking fee. Normally it says 20% restocking fee. I purchased in June 2019.
I would of waited for the replacement but if you need it you need it
apparently its 90 days now I was going to take my unlimited 200 back to get the omnipro just for the autoset function the unlimited 200 is a fucking beast tho!
I bought my Vulcan OmniPro 220 about 6 months after they can out 3 years ago or so bought the warranty knock on wood its been a Great machine . you Unfortunate for you were in the middle of Covid supply crisis..
Save up and maybe buy a used Lincoln or miller??
Save your money guys I got one 2 and it works ok but it's got a lot of things I don't like one the stick welding side of it is strange seems to have major case of magnetic blow nothing helps moving ground don't work it welds vertical 7018 like dog shit it has a very harsh arc to it it mig welds pretty good
I just bought one of these yesterday and they charged me $149 for a one year replacement and it will be subject to a restocking fee
How many times are you going to repeat yourself?
On the back cover of the owners manual its a 90 day warranty
Good video Brian good and informative @Redemption Garage
restocking fee????? ive returned several things and never paid a restocking fee.
They should of removed the restock fee, call customer service and tell them what happened. They will take care of you
O i for got i got it for $879.99 i found one at the store and they had 3 different price so I asked if them to give it to me with lowest price so they did so I can't complain right now. I'm from California so the price here is #1049.99 so that was a big discount.
They can't restock a broken tool WTF you should go get that restocking fee back!
Man they are setting themselves up for a big publicity hit with this crap. I love my HF tools but if they tell me risk-free for a year and charge a 160 restocking fee for something that can't be restocked, man I'm taking that all the way up the ladder. Good luck to you, hopefully they're watching.
The employees are required to tell you if a particular item (mostly big ticket items) have a restocking fee and usually the item will mention that on the sales tag when you look at it.
Personally, I don't really agree with that practice but I know a number of businesses and retailers that also do the same thing to recoupe the cost of sending the item back for inspection or repair.
Ive spent thousands of dollars
At harbor fake. Thousands more
At the companies ive worked
At. No more. The icon tools
Ive bought have been a let
Down as have some other
Products like the jack stands
Which were a pain to return.
Not sure whats going on
With HF but they are going
Down the tubes..shame
Cause i like going there.
He WASNT charged a restocking fee.
You should put the retraction in the description of this video for the people who aren’t going to click a link in your comment.
Farm use. 3 years and going strong
Always purchase the extended warranty for big ticket items, enough said no need to listen to rant rant......
Looked at it this way you paid $16.00 a month to rent that machine
Sorry about that brother! That is a reason why I went with Lincoln, warranty. I had some issues when I got my lincoln, none related to the machine, and their customer service was super. Same with my former welder, a Forney, excellent customer service. To me what Harbor Freight has done to you is totally wrong. You better off with a Lincoln or a Miller, even Forney has a new model, pretty good one for the price of the Vulcan, about $1,100 at Amazon.
2 YEARS TOO LATE, the back plug was sticking out further than it should, was not plugged in all the way.
I don't understand the restocking fee it's not like you brought it back and just wanted to get your money back for no reason it was completely and totally broken you should have gotten a hundred percent of your freaking money back
Probably $160 for 2 year warranty... So it broke in 10 month... You still would of paid $160 to rent one!
This is why I only buy zip ties at HF. Support the companies that stand behind their products and not continue to buy garbage.
next time buy a Lincoln
Risk free means 100 satisfaction not rental. I will stay with my lincolns. Call eric Schmidt always deal with the head of the horse.
Email corporate, they'll fix the managers mistake. CS@harborfreight.com. You should not be charged a restocking fee for a broken item thats under warranty.
You should have been paid an extra 160 bucks for your inventory loss . won't sell me any more expensive items.
They should not of charged you a dime for a restocking fee thats not a free trial
So promote HF to get free tools....then you buy a $800 welder, loose $160..( restocking a broken machine ??) loose half day pay/ time/ gas load up the broken welder, drive to HF, unload it, get ripped off and drive home with no welder,,,,oh and wait 3-5 business days for the money to be back in your account, so you can buy another welder. Unless you have more money sitting around you can go buy another $800 welder , but now your out $1600 while your waiting for the $640 to be put back in your account..
Ya totally makes sense to buy HF cheap Chinese made tools...instead of a Lincoln or miller welder.....Also you can’t do any welding without a welder, so your project is on hold or you can’t do your job ( if your a welder) and loose more money everyday.......
I went through 2 of them and pretty a waste of money. Go buy a Miller and never have to worry about it again
Mine died, 2 months after the extended warranty expired. Anyone know a good repair shop in SoCal?
