Instant Pot Pasta Bolognese

What do you get when you combine crushed tomatoes with some finely chopped onion, carrot and celery along with the most wonderful wine-infused ground meat that's so rich in flavor? A Bolognese.
A traditional Bolognese takes hours to make in a saucepan. The meat must simmer in wine for flavor infusion with water often needing to be added so the meat doesn't dry out as the sauce reduces. It's a delicate balance and a babysitting job for sure.
Forget all of that here. Even better? This will all be done (pasta AND sauce) IN. ONE. POT. (Such as your Instant Pot or Ninja Foodi) and in a FRACTION of the time the old-school method without compromising any of the incredible flavor whatsoever.

Made this tonight. It is delicious! It was the first time I cooked pasta in the IP, so I was a little nervous. The pasta was perfectly cooked. The flavors were awesome (I added a bit of red pepper flakes). This recipe is a keeper. Thank you for sharing.

Delicious! I am a first time instant pot user, and this dish was amazing. I took a liberty of adding more onions, carrots and celery, about half portions more. Added 2 bay leaves, 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves for spices. Turned out just as good. I thought the dish had enough oil, so didn't add the cream and the cream cheese at the end.

We really loved this one. It was excellent. Tasted soooooo great. I used beef broth instead of any wine. Other than that, I used the same ingredients. The cheese and heavy cream added in last really set it off.

Pressure Luck It’s mandatory for me. I love that stuff, but I got tired of eating it just one way. Thanks for the videos showing how to use it in other ways. My boyfriend likes to buy it from Costco, but we usually can’t eat it all before it’s not so fresh.

@@lindsay3793 wow how sweet of you to ask about my Dad Lindsay. Sadly he did not make it. My Dad passed away in March. 1 week after finding out he had lung cancer. I’ve lived with him for the last 15 years. I have to say he lived every recipe from this page. I miss him a lot.

Keeping it low carb - Made the same recipe but instead of pasta. I boiled shirataki noodles for 2 mins then dry fried them no oil till they were squeaky. Added it to the meat sauce and manual cooked for 5 mins. Turned out pretty good - the noodles had a ton of flavour. Thanks for an amazing recipes

Made this for the third time this weekend. for someone who grew up in an Italian neighborhood in New York, even though I'm not Italian, it is the best pasta dish I've ever made. The dairy might be getting a little heavy for the family, so next time I may skip the cream and cheese, but the wine flavor oh my the wine flavor.
New to instant pots. I purchased the duo evo plus. This is the second thing I’ve cooked in it with success.
I changed the recipe a little as I didn’t add the wine but did chug some dashes of Worcestershire sauce in and I had no onion to hand so replaced it with mushrooms. I didn’t add the cream but did add the cheese at the end.
OMG this is supposed to be my meal prep for my lunches through the week. It tastes awesome and it’s cooling down so I can transport it into containers to take to work but I keep grabbing a spoonful every time I walk past lol

I hate cooking so I got the instant pot to make the process slightly easier. You explain cooking so well! I have a 3 qt so I wish there were conversions for that, otherwise, it’s great! My husband is happy with it (and the fact that I’m cooking). Thank you!

Just made this and it is amazing! Btw I didn't need to pressurize it... I just left it simmering on saute and added the pasta with a tad more fluid and came out great!
For people who avoid alcohol (like me), there are some really decent non-alcoholic wines out there. We have a local gourmet store that carries some nice ones. Just a thought for a recipe like this! Thanks, Jeffrey - another great recipe! 👍👍👍
I respect your decision but the alcohol boils off, just as Jeffery says.
The alcohol burns off before consumption so there won't be any in there anyway.

This looks so wonderful, and I can't wait to try it, but my mind always comes back to a bolognese I had, made by my uncle, in the traditional work intensive long simmered fashion. It included the addition of chicken livers which gave the sauce THE MOST incredible velvet texture, and deep richness, it was indescribable! Could a sauce like that be invented for the instant pot? I've longed to recreate it, but I just don't have the kitchen endurance to take on such a long process!!
