9th September 1991. Rik is far more relaxed in this interview with Gloria Hunniford, who was standing in for Terry Wogan. Here he talks about Bottom, Drop Dead Fred, Waiting for Godot and The New Statesman.
Why were TV presenters encouraged to be rude back then? Gloria criticises Rik of Bottom being a step back, says he's "hiding behind" a character like B'Stard and accused him of "saying all the nasty things you want to say". That's horrible! Rik Mayall was a lovely, loyal, multi-talented, charming, intelligent gentleman.
When you need a guy to laugh at and thirst over, Rik's always your man 💖
No one else could ever have played Drop Dead Fred X X
RIP Rik. Absolute legend. x
Beautiful man 💔
Also, I think time has very thoroughly demonstrated that Bottom was one of his finest works.
Im miss Rik so much 😢 . Thanks for the memories.
This is still my favourite Rik interview.
And - the orderly Rik in “Shock Treatment”. Don’t forget that!
The great man R.I.P.
A naturally funny man. Look at his dancing eyes
My all time favorite movie and I’m just now realizing how SEXY Fred is🤓

That is a fine mane of early 90's bohemian locks.
Gloria Hunniford also has majestic locks. Everyone wins.

the british bill hicks
He zips up his fly just before he sits down as soon as he gets on stage
If death is the end and birth the beginning, then what is life but an empty book.
It's a shame. That movie needed better direction. It would have done very well.
