This is the kind of content that's missing in FM community, tips are abundance but when it comes to in game management very few are brave enough to share their decision let alone the reasoning behind it. For now I don't have lot of courage to try to change most of the things while in a match, but your videos really encourage me to do so! I subbed and I liked, thanks Phil!

But in my live streams I always try to explain why I am changing something. What I have noticed is that the chat are getting involved and suggesting things when things are not working out, so they are getting used to reading the game in a similar way and the interaction is fun. If you keep trying things you will eventually find that some things work for you. It's all about trying things then of it doesn't work do something different next time. keep going .. it's all about experimenting!
@@fm-oldmanphil Checking in Phil, finally made my first in game adjustment, I try to implement your frame of thought and I'm happily report that it worked well, I'm using Juventus in a match against Monza, here's the story: I used a 3-6-1 formation with a diamond midfield and a lone striker up top, while Monza use standard 3-4-3 formation. First I look on the next opponent report provided by scout, I notice that Monza is a pass heavy team with 550 passes in their last match against Inter ( a clear favourite), I started with opp. instruction to tackle harder the fulcrum of their team. I lead 1-0 in the first half through a moment of brilliance by Rabiot, here's what I notice during the first half: 1. Their back 3 are happily play from the back because I only use Dusan as a lone striker, 2. I only have 4 shots (2 on target) even though defensively I'm doing good by limiting their chances on the same number as me. What I changed in the 2nd half based on those observation was: 1. Move Milik from AMC (SS) to ST (DLF) so He'll help Dusan pressing up their back 2. Move the line from higher to much higher to put more bodies forward while also compressing their spaces in midfield further 3. Add get stuck in to further unsettle their player on the ball Further adjustment during the 2nd half: 1. I notice my WCB on support was wandering too far from his position, hence creating the space for one of their AMC so I changed him to defend 2. Try to secure the score by dropping the DLine but kept the get stuck in instruction to keep hassling their time on the ball The result: 1. Won 3-1 2. Monza only add 1 shot on target (it was a goal, a lapse of concentration by Miretti) 3. Finish with xG of 0.65 (Monza) 3.68 (Juve, with one penalty call in the first half, not converted), I shot 11 more times 6 of them on target I'm aware that it might just be me using a superior team and facing only Monza, Inter had beat them 3-0 in the previous match afterall, but I really struggled in the first half, maybe it just works this time, maybe in another time it won't, but the point is to be brave to make an adjustment and keep the experiment going, like a real football manager, that's my key takeaway from you! FM 24 is very complex. I had so many twist & turns playing this game. One game it the players, another its the tactics. Then it can be the opp instructions. You never know. So playing at Compprehensive Mode is so important. Seeing what goes on is the key. In a game the other day my Kiev boys was passing the ball to long.. could not get the team goin. Changed th IF-A and passing to shorter and --- 0-0 was 3-1 an 25 min later.. FM was much more easy to see through just some years ago. Playing away- just go a bit more attack and the game was surrendering. At home go a little def and it was easy. Now it is all over the place and the fault can lie where you dont expect it. I find that using the subs is so important. They really can save the day. Made a lot of changes against Shaktar 0-1 and then in the 2nd half we went 2-1. They looked like a boys team. No tactic changed. Thanks for very good video, Phil!
Thanks mate....I agree with you and that's why it is so important to play in comprehensive highlights and to watch the game as a manager and not a spectator. In a later game we were still taking long shots so in that game I changed one of the Shadow strikers to a more supportive role and told him to shoot less often and set his instructions to look for a pass instead....15 minutes later a delightful 1-2 combination between them and it was 1=0. Job done! The game is played in two ways...just buy the best players and eventually you will win everything. But there is another way! And I like this way because it feels more like real football.

I have been having a problem over several matches now. Tactics have been working well until the final 3rd of the season. Now I'm not creating enough chances, scoring enough goals and letting in too many. This game does my head in sometimes.
