It appears that this "researcher" has not done her homework. Narendra Modi has been steering his country out of the dependence of the major developing countries and the Multinationals that fund their politicians. As an example, during Covid, he refused to make contracts with the US led vaccine manufacturers as these companies refused to give him information about the safety of their products. Modi ji went on, single handily, to fund India's own vaccine. He then on gave free vaccines to a range of countries around the World. Africa included. He has refused to condemn Russia from defending Russians who live in Ukraine and who have been systematically killed by the Ukrainian government with the support of the Americans. Modi has, since he came in Power, developed India into the 3rd largest economies and has massively reduced poverty in India. All that within 10 years! He sincerely believes in helping to develop countries in the Southern hemisphere and promoting Africa has been one of his objectives. Do some research of your own and make your own mind. Having said all that, I do not trust the G7 countries but trust Modi in stopping them exploiting Africa by working cooperatively with the African leaderships. Bye the way, I am from Africa (Mauritius) and live in UK. This is as independent as I can be.
@alfie1947 India is doing well for its self there is no need to embellish lies. You are Mauritian of Indian subcontinent origin correct? Is that why you are glossing over some inconvenient facts. It’s natural to be impressed and or defend your ancestral home. India approved the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine (manufactured under license by Serum Institute of India (SII) under the trade name Covishield). Africa was isolated and vulnerable after the Indian government forbade the export of generic COVID-19 vaccines during the height of its pandemic. I for one don’t fault them for looking after their own interest but let the records show. The Indian government banned SII from exporting its COVID-19 vaccines in April 2021 during the height of that country's pandemic. Prior to that The Serum Institute of India delivered vaccines to South Africa that had been paid for that were soon expire. Modi has done relatively well for India, if we discount the CoVid bleep India has been on an impressive growth trajectory since 1980. When Modi came in 2014 India was already ranked 10th biggest economy by GDP. He didn’t start from a low base. Since the economic reforms of 1991 India had consistently been a relatively fast growing economy, sometimes second only to China which was on double digit growth then. Today India is ranked # 5 with Germany in its sights. GDP per capita it’s 127 out of 193 countries.
That was a an extremely bitter , negative , poor , I would say bordering on hateful , conversation between these two " ladies " Its not the worlds fault Africa finds itself in the situation in finds itself in today let alone India's , you have to come out of that echo-chamber because that interviewee just spat a lot of bile , India has done something for you Today , something you were unable to do for yourselves , YOUR WELCOME.
Lebohang Pheko's bile comes straight out of the woke 'Africa toolkit'. Heard it all before and being rejected globally. These 'with-its' don't realise their days are long gone. These are the people who are helping keep Africa backwards. Such 'researchers' are just being played puppets by their funding organ grinders who were dreaming of a unipolar globe under their control. Follow her funders to see why the hateful bile.
@@Flickifi She should not be invited to speak for Africa ever again , she will reduce you into native-ness , for all her clever words nobody wants to do business with a nasty person , and she came across as a nasty person , ( she almost choked on her own bile )
@@sonic.garden Eating humble pie can be a very bitter pill to swallow , IF your going to view it that way , Africa needs to do 360 degree about turn and NOT see it that way , rather see it as a friendly new beginning .
China and Russia are not absent. They are represented by Chinese Prime minister and Russian foreign affairs minster. Try to be cautious and informes when you speak in public forums.
Lebohang Pheko really needs to do her homework rather than keep spewing out from the woke 'Africa toolkit'. Africa, for the size of its population and economy as a continent, cannot keep depending on others to find its place and direction. Africa must stand on its own and memberships of such forum is a great start to have not only its voice heard but to be really part of the decision-making mechanisms. To say G20's role is to look mainly towards futuristic scenarios, militaristic and corporate foresight into economies...yada... yada... yada is straight out the woke toolkit. Makes great sound bites with little or no meaning or understanding of the reality out there.
She is right in that Africa as a continent is a peripheral player in terms of agenda setting or shaping but it’s resources are key in running the global economy. She is right that this needs realignment if the continent is to prosper. Being a pawn for the West or East is not a desirable state to be in but it will long continue until the AU and its members get their act together.
Thank India? It’s not a favour or a free lunch. To join there has to be consensus amongst members, just as there was consensus amongst G7 when they created G20 in 1999. India wants the African Union’s support in reforming UN & getting a permanent seat at the UN Security Council. In an expanding BRICS It also needs same countries as allies to help push its agenda.
African Union in G20, must be taken positively, to let its voice heard in multilateral forum as many as possible to get on to the road to progress not simply get lost in individual intellectual digressions , rather observe keenly for cooperation sincerely as ethics weighs more with mankind in larger gatherings.
A great outcome! Loka Samastha Sukino Bhavanthu! Hats off Modi ji and team! Declaration and so many important decisions made! Decisions that are far sighted for the prosperity & wellbeing of so many nations. Africa, the cradle of human civilisation! It must prosper for the planet to prosper. Common good and development of every nation in the planet, should overcome greed and subjugation. When we can buy a T shirt for $2.00, it means someone out there involved in the making of that T Shirt, right from the cultivation of cotton to the shop, is missing out in a BIG WAY! That is not sustainable. It will coming crashing down and definitely take the whole planet down the drain with it!
