Why most pianist do not play the original version is a mystery to me. It seems only Ashkenazy plays the infinitely more beautiful and lyrical original version.

Wonderful and stirring. The performance of this young boy is powerful, sensitive, clear and unify; The 3rd mvt (14:40) is fantastic, courageous and awesome, the best of all I heard.
But this music is very hard to play, with all your soul, without concession, as did Shunta. Rachmaninoff himself could not play again after performing (his concerto no3) : So was Shunta, exhausted :
Please, take care of yourself ! Let music grow step by step, as the life do!
Perhaps one remark : sometimes the 2nd mvt could request in forte a touch a little more colorful or with more modulation, like touch of Argerich or Ashkenazy. But it's not a technical matter, until a matter of sensitivity.
