Of all Darlene's appearances on Letterman, this is one of the best. With the military participation, it brings the most meaning to "Baby please come home".
As you get older, Christmas loses its charm bit by bit. It becomes more like a chore than a holiday. But then you hear Darlene open with "Christmas... Snows coming down." All the spirit and the wonder come back.
I love that Dave and his partners on this show will reap the benefits of maintaining the rights to all his content. Genuinely the best late night show ever! 🙌🏻
@greymann You are so right! Thank goodness for David Letterman & Paul Shafer (sp?). Paul had played the song from hearing Phil Spector's Christmas Album. Finally, Darlene Love added to Dave's Legacy! Wouldn't feel like Christmas without it! Happy you are enjoying your life! NYC ❤️ 🇺🇸
This was a Christmas tradition that I was sorry to see end when Dave retired. This particular year with the military was my favorite one. Merry Christmas!!!!
I miss this every year. Wow this version just brought tears down my face. And a full heart. Love Dave. love Darlene. So fun to watch Dave’s band head bopping in the back. ADORE LETTERMAN !!!!
Always loved this tradition, the different arrangements each year, where Bruce Kapler was going to pop up from on the Sax solo, and the jib shot that would include the tree with the pizza, meatball and Empire State Building.
This is my fave Christmas song for a long time, not necessarily this version but still great... Christmas is not just cheesy happy times, it can be bittersweet so that's why I like this song
This is as close to perfection as we'll get in this world. Ms. Love was in terrific voice, the slinky, glittering black dress looked great, the Singing Sergeants and the shots via satellite of the troops were a wonderful idea.
The only Christmas song I care for. Every year they made it a bigger production. Honestly, even the small simple ones were great. David Sanborn popping out of a gift box was pretty good tho.
@@SuperSawyerg Yea, I found it on here a few days ago. Seeing her and the horn player on the piano with the snow coming down and just the whole thing...was very, very well done!
While in the Air Force I had the opportunity to work on this particular show while in Bosnia, pulling cable and manning a camera for a few of Biff's bits. It'd awesome if you all would post this entire episode as my VHS copy has bitten the dust.
There's something very special about celebrating Christmas in Cebu City! I'm a 66 year old American living in North Carolina with my 65 year old Filipina from Cebu City, and I've been to Cebu City four times already!
The sound quality is AMAZING
The greatest.
This is what REAL music and singing is about folks..
Of all Darlene's appearances on Letterman, this is one of the best. With the military participation, it brings the most meaning to "Baby please come home".
Amen to that.
Back when times were decent
God Bless ALL who serve this wonderful country! Thank you.
Nobody sings this song like Darlene Love,
She definitely owns this song!
As much as I miss watching Letterman since his retirement, I miss this holiday tradition with Darlene Love belting out this beautiful song….
The first Queen of Christmas!!!
Actual goosebumps. Darlene is amazing
Yup. Goosebumps every time I see her sing this.
Indeed. Goosebumps each time I hear her sing it.
As soon as the snow started falling…. Chills!
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Me too
Darlene, a true powerhouse. And surrounded by all those soldiers on set and on live feed. 💫❤️
Will certainly miss them
Always enjoyed listening to
Darlene Love
A powerhouse, every Christmas.
She makes aging respectable!
My new favorite Christmas song. Absolutely love this!!!
Darlene’s voice ages like fine wine. Respect!
Merry Xmas everybody

I'm older. You're right. Beautifully put.
I'm older. Getting together with people I love over Christmas never loses its charm.
So true.
The great choral sound from the Singing Sergeants really makes this version.
A great network tv moment
This might be one of my all time favorite Christmas performances. I loved Darlene Love on Letterman every Christmas. Wonderful memories
Nothing compares to Darlene Love 💕
Simply phenomenal....musicians, Sergeants, our military....and Darlene Love!!
I love that Dave and his partners on this show will reap the benefits of maintaining the rights to all his content. Genuinely the best late night show ever! 🙌🏻
Let's hope they treat Darlene better than Specter did.

Legend.
No Christmas until I hear Darlene! 🎄
Absolutely. The concert in Times Square with Darlene and Cher can't be topped❤
I agree with you a thousand percent🤗, Darlene is the true queen of Christmas 💝🎄

Wonderful! Can't help but notice the original air date, though.
What a woman ❤
This version's amazing, but her last time performing this on the show in 2014 was the best one.
thanks for that information- 2014 was spectacular

My favorite out of all the years...which is saying a lot! I love Darlene Love.
Miss seeing Darlene perform this each Christmas on Dave. Wish Jimmy Kimmel would start the tradition

Merry Christmas everyone!

Fun fact for those that didn’t already know: Darlene Love also played Trish Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon movies
Darlene Love and the Singing Servants complement each other sowell.

The. Best. Ever.
It ain't Christmas until Darlene Love sings, "Baby Please Come Home"!
The UK in 2023 is grey and miserable....but this is wonderful..Merry Christmas one and all.
