    I built one of these but got it with a W-2145 8 core 16 thread processor w/5700XT 32gb in quad channel. Def a solid build for the price. These p520 workstations are the new META budget builds for office pc's in my opinion. For what these systems offer you really can't beat it.

    I have a P520 myself running an old PNY XLR8 1070 and 32GB of RAM. I purchased the PC and graphics for about $300 total and moved my drives over, later I upgraded my gaming drive to a 2TB WD Black SN850X. It's a great gaming machine even if it's a little old, and quite a large improvement over my HP Z230 SFF.

    Wow. I’m getting a p520 with the w-2135 as well. I won’t be getting a 4060 off rip, I’m getting a 5700xt, but it’s super impressive to see that the 2135 with the 4060 still gives decent results. Definitely decent 4k ish at above 60fps. Thank you so much for this video

    • @PetesParts16
      @PetesParts16  5 месяцев назад +1

      You’re welcome! Glad it was helpful. You should get some good performance out of the 5700xt. I mainly game in 1440p which the 4060 is perfectly fine for, but it was fun to see what it could do in 4k… the results were better than I thought! The w-2135 is a really solid cpu as well, hope you have fun with your new build!

      @@PetesParts16 yeah i want to game at 1440p too. But I was nervous that better GPUS just won’t work that well on the platform. But now that I see I have some GPU headroom to work with, I might get something like the 4060 ti with 16gb of vram. Then my whole setup will be a complete monster apparently. But until I save for that the 5700xt should give me decent performance.
      Also do you think the cpu upgrades on this platform are worth it. Specifically the W-2145 or the 2245 (I know it’s expensive but in a couple years maybe not)

    • @PetesParts16
      @PetesParts16  5 месяцев назад +3

      @@fresco_dinero5155 I personally don't think the Xeon upgrades are worth it, they are expensive especially for the minimal performance gain. If you are gaming in 1440p your GPU is going to handle the brunt of the work, there are definitely CPU intensive games out there like Fortnite but the W-2135 is perfectly capable of handling those

      You Don't need to worry about that even with the rx 6700xt there's almost no bottleneck with the w-2135

    Holy moly, all I ever see is people ragging on RTX 4060 and dismissing it as an overpriced 1080p card. But if it can actually consistently run some games beautifully with some tweaking in the settings at 4k, especially with games that support DLSS 3 and frame generation, then it's kind of a pretty good deal...

    • @PetesParts16
      @PetesParts16  5 месяцев назад

      Not bad right? I’ve been meaning to test this for a while, I had a feeling it would be able to handle it. I play in 1440p just fine with this card so had to give 4k a shot!

    What is the bootup time for your p520? For mine it is around 30-35 seconds which seems a bit odd.

    • @PetesParts16
      @PetesParts16  5 месяцев назад

      Not long, maybe 5-10 seconds. It probably has to do with your boot drive… are you using an m.2 SSD? Check your read speeds as well, they may be slow

    • @aku2dimensional
      @aku2dimensional 3 месяца назад

      My boot time is about the same using a Sata SSD, 5 to 10-seconds seems unreasonable but I haven't tried booting from an NVME. When I asked Lenovo about load times, they explained that the P520 must load several OPROMs for video, LAN, and the storage controller used in the system, in addition to memory, higher CPU core counts, and security measures. Essentially, the BIOS handles a larger number of tasks in the background during startup compared to a normal desktop, resulting in a longer wait time. An NVME drive could speed up the process, but I wouldn't know by how much faster it is.

    “Why would you not use it you have a 40 series card”
    Sure if you have a 4060 but I don’t understand the benefit of using an upscaling technology if you have a top of the line card

    • @PetesParts16
