One nice thing about that NEC V20 is that it will run 80186 instructions! Sometimes software that say "286 required" will actually run since more often than not it may be compiled against a 80186 instruction set!
The card edge cable on the Tandy 1000 is parallel! The only issues with that parallel port is that it won't work with certain devices (e.g. Zip drives), but with some modifications, it will work!
The 1000HX was Radio Shack's cheapest PC in the early '90s -- I think the final closeout sale for them was as low as $149. But now, it regularly has the highest resale value of all the 1000s. I guess it's due to the nostalgia of all the people like you who had it as their first computer, and/or because people like its compact all-in-one form factor.
Idk if you meant someday you wanted to find an actual copy, but you can find Speller Bee in the Total DOS Collection. I tried it myself and the PC speaker text to speech is quite a thing.
