This model goes really well with Self determination theory and provides a place for expectancy theory in type x where SDT did not

I'd go further - Pink is not a theorist but a writer. He got a large chunk of this model from SDT. But he also synthesized in lots of other ideas (hence his focus on meaning/purpose).
