Drift Games, now JD, jesus fire is out for all the driving people today
especially the Irish people are getting affected like what a coincidence
technically the other way around they were pretty close but james fire was about 30 minutes before the drift games announcement
@@Max23653nope, James and I found out while we were sitting in the start line
A hommie here in Australia had his car burn on the trailer this morning aswell 🤷 wtf is going on
@@KevinDarwish03holy shit that had to be heavy News. These rtr,s are just next level ay
Glad to see you are okay. you were very reactive to the fire, which made you unharmed form the fire. Good to see the everyone is okay.
The fact that FD even allows ride alongs in these behemoth race cars without wearing fire suits is mind blowing.
They have all these rules about safety gear and then they just ignore them for media days and ride alongs.
They’re one incident away from not existing anymore.
Don't they sign something for ride alongs?
@@seanowens3153most waivers aren't worth the paper they're written on when tested in court.
Yeah pretty surprising and pretty sure it will be the last time too.
Couldn't have said it better myself. Bare minimum should be long cotton sleeve and pants with non synthetic shoes & gloves.
1 agree
2 manual cabled fire suppression should be mandatory. Not electronic.
Soooo glad no one was injured in this terrible crash in #LongBeach. But having a giant Blue Nitro Bottle between your legs is tempting fate. #NoFireSuit #LuckOfTheIrish
Nitrous isn’t even flammable.
last person to ever ride in an FD car without a fire suit
I’m pretty sure you are right
If you look at James you can see nothing but ice, my man was calm cool and collected.e
Great reaction time on your part, James too!! Seems like the Fire employees James drove towards were a little slow, and an FD employee started a fire extinguisher before they did...
Yeah I was a little surprised how long I t took for the fire crew! Kevin Wells was the first to respond.
I'm shocked the onboard fire suppression system didn't work
@@jaredlyon6668 It looked to me that it did work. If you look closely on 6.37 you see a little smoke first and then all the powder and then the flames. The suppression system just wasn't capable of containing the fire imo.
@@jaredlyon6668 fire was to strong
Wow. 😮 talk about a wild ride !
Saw this on James's IG the other day. You did an AMAZING job of dipping out of the car dude, highlights the need for proper safety systems at ALL times though. Hope lessons are learned from this. Glad everyone walked away safe and well 🤙
Thanks, I appreciate it!
Luckily you're fine, that's the main thing. That was definitely an experience that will last. wish you all the best bro!
Kind of lucky to be riding when this hapened except for the scary dangerous fire part 😬 happy you both made it out okay, great video 👍
As a competitive drifter myself, it’s rare I get the chance to be a passenger! Thanks!!
Luckily with your experience you knew exactly what to do. Imagine this had been a different person who jumped in a racecar for the first time, panicking while trying to undo the harness... Ooofff, that could be a whole different story...
With a fat bottle of nos between your legs as well scary !
That’s why I say everything happens for a reason. Out of all the people at media day, I was probably one of the only competitive drifters going for a ridealong.
Thank god you knew how to get out that car quickly 🙏🏻 I would have struggled getting those belts off fast man
I’m definitely happy it was me and not a regular media or fan.
U were fast out, so good u re fine.. u know Murphy s law ain t a joke..
The big nitrous bottle just chilling
That got scary fast! Thankfully you guys got out fast
You media guys really need to wear ear protection. I have tinnitus from 20 years of this.
Agree. 3 drift driver friends need hearing aids in their 30s.
Ik vaughn makes sure the drivers have in ears for protection plus i think james has a lil more in his helmet
Especially for Odi’s cars 🤯
@@KevinDarwish03 not wrong his car had my ears ringing when he cam by at orlando..
I wonder if wearing ear protection in a fire would help stop global warming 🤔
Fires can be super scary. Really glad to see you all are okay. Cars can be rebuilt. People not so much..
100%!!!
that's wild from your point of view!
gez more fires wth. glad you both made out!
Glad everyones ok
This video popped up on my youtube. And god damn. Brother im so glad yall get out safe I saw a reel on ig about this but i thought he was solo in the car. Holy hell. Also when you walk past Hughes and lz you're in lz vlog. But im happy yall weren't hurt and able to post this insane footage.
A big thanks to GoPro that were letting me try their new GoPro 12 for the day. That’s why I have multiple angles!
Amazing foresight and knowledge to get yourself out of that situation man. Scary one that the "average" media person - well...I don't even wanna go there.
Props to you and JD. Glad you boys are safe!
Getting in and out of my competition drift car for many years finally paid off 😅
Glad you’re okay brother. Also crazy enough that the car is fixed and back on the track… . What a team.
Insane what RTR is able to pull off 🤯
Wow, look to scary. Glad everyone is okay! No panicking, like a pro👍
Thank god you know how racing harnesses work! I couldn’t imagine if it was someone who was invited to media day who doesn’t know.
I definitely believe that everything happens for a reason!
Were not having the best week 🇮🇪 glad yous got out safe . I wonder if James pulled the plumbed in Fire suppression would it of done anything.
Wow close call! 😳
You were GONE😂😂😂
Almost had to do a barrel roll when I jumped out 😅
@@KevinDarwish03 the fastest reaction time I’ve seen though👌🏽
they need suits for ride alongs. that's so lucky!! imagine if that was a media person with no experience getting out of a race car!
I 100% agree. I am sure things will change now.
what is it with Irish people and fires this week
Yeah, should Dean Kearney be worried?
@@areacode08 absolutely
Deane engines? Not related to James?
@@ThatAussie1no
@@Greasy_Johnson Kearney's livery is looking good this year, too! I hope not! 😂
Glad you both are safe!!
Thanks 🙏🏻
Good on you for getting out so fast
BRuhh !! thank god you all fine
It definitely could have been much worse!
but dude do you realise you made history with the legend , no money can buy that
I’ve always heard they come in threes be careful bro, glad you guys made it out safe.
Don’t make me paranoid 😅
I think drifting regs needs to take a page from WRC regs when it comes to safety systems. Full fire suppression, and a cleaver solenoid valve solution to completely kill the nitrous feed when the power or fire lever is pulled by the driver (or external lever from safety team), even at grass roots level like local stage rallying is in the UK. Even a 1200cc Nissan Micra has to have that.
Formula Drift requires fire suppression.
Image the passenger couldn't undo the harness, you were lucky having the quick reaction and experience of a race style car which really helped you. Fire Suits should be mandatory for passengers.
Yeah it’s definitely scary to think if it wasn’t a seasoned drifter like myself. 😮
Nobody could argue with this 100%.
You hopped out of that car! It's NOT easy in these cars people. Good job,
Helps that I have my own pro drift car!!
Jesus man, glad your both OK. That was friggen wild. So James..... Gotta ask what the plan is here. That stang is pretty well cooked.
2:09 i saw this from LZ angle in his video.
That was a fire run
😅
They need to have the passengers have fire suits. The driver has it on for a reason. It's not only FD other racing spots that do media days have the same issue.
I’m pretty sure that things will change as of now.
Pants and long sleeves are fine for a quick ride.
@@SaleenDriftand if it was your wife in there that dont have any experience in a drift car.
Do you think she would have been out that fast. Most people dont know how the racing harness really work.
I think it's a chance that it was Kevin in that car and not a inexperience human.
5:36 I DID NOT KNOW CONOR WAS RUNNIN AN E36!!
Yeah one of Rome’s 👌🏻
Yup, it’s Rome’s old E36 with the Magnuson Supercharged LS
@@KevinDarwish03 amazing lookin car. Not a huge fan of romes new BMW. Too round in my opinion.
Hate that this happened to you, but glad it was you based on how fast you started to get out of the car.
Dude. Glad you made it out of the car okay. It could have been bad if a regular media passenger who is unfamiliar with standard safety harness systems fumbles in the panic and wastes time to exit. Was there any safety crew on that nearby exit area where there usually is? I saw in your video that there was the flat bed tow truck, but I didn't see the regular safety crews.
Safety crew were right at that corner, that’s why James rolled the car to that spot. Unfortunately they were really slow to get to the car…
Crazy!
glad you knew how to get out and didn't get cooked
I’m definitely glad it happened with me in the car and not a regular media / fan. Definitely wouldn’t have gotten out as fast as I did 😕
The Irish haven't been involved in this many fires since the troubles
bruh no way you did that xD
Atleast it was someone like you who knows how to undo a harness. Could have been a lot sketchier if it was someones first time being in something like this.
Yup 100%
Man that’s a new RTR car too damn that sucks. Guess it’s the luck of the Irish this week
sheeeeeeeesh fire be wreaking havoc on the drift community lately :(
Specifically the Irish guys it seems
Hahaha this why you wear the proper gear. Havent even watched the video just the first few seconds. 😂
Does that race car not have a fire suppression system? Dont see it get activated or it go off.
It does. By the passenger's right knee. it was never pulled. On top of that the safety pin is in place. Error on the crews part. I also saw another video of the Introduction of that new car and its being tested and the safety pin is also engaged on the fire handle (this time the fire pull handle is by the drivers window).
Safety comes 1st
Aren't they meant to have fire suppression systems? Or are those only for inside the cars even though it's always the engine bay or fuel tank that goes up
He has fire suppression, but it didn’t suffice
A great example why I find shocking FD allowing passengers without a fire suit...
I'm sure things will change now
Nitrous backfire?
Dang that's as close as it gets
Regardless if you sign anything or not , FD ahould NEVER have let you in the car with a suit hands down . Lucky escape , i saw the flames attacking the passenger side real quick. Also that took far too long for someone to show up with a fire extinguisher
Unfortunately on media day, it is FD that organizes the ridealongs, and they only required pants and closed shoes. I am sure that this will change though!
Did anyone see him pull the fire handle in the center or do we think it has an automatic trigger?
Glad everyone is ok, sucks about the new car.
Some systems can have an electronic trigger, and a secondary manual trigger.
I always see race cars burn down I ask myself shouldn’t they have fire suppression system to prevent this. A lot of them do they just never seem to help
He had fire suppression, just wasn't enough 😑
You thought you were the luckiest guy to ride with James and then you almost became a potato chip
I was definitely stoked, but not my first ride in a FD car… I compete in an old FD car!
how much faster are these cars than yours?
A lot faster 😅
Bad start to the year for Irish drifting guys.
Fires everywhere
The scary thing is that James and I found out for the Drift Games fire while we were in line to go for our run 😮
@@KevinDarwish03 wow that’s crazy. Hope everyone stays safe
Dang, 2 seasons and 2 cars totaled. Should have gone with luke fink, at least he only destroys bumpers (allegedly).
This has nothing to do with James though…
@@KevinDarwish03 yeah i know i was only joking mate
what is happening ... ???
Idk why when there are ride alongs, the passenger is not wearing a suit like the drivers that can protect them from fire. All it takes is a couple of second and you are fcked for life. Just look at Romain Grosjean from F1 and imagine that with no protection
why did the fire department took so long????
Good question!! They could have definitely been faster
Man things like this might stop allowing them to do ride alongs :(. Every one needs to wear a fire suit.
I’m sure they will as of now!
Bummer fkr the rtr team.
Pretty amateurish from the team not supplying suits. Even at grass roots level in my country passengers have to wear one piece suits.
The ridealongs were organized by Formula D. The drivers drove up to the FD tent, grabbed passengers and did one run. Wasn’t the case for me, but yeah that’s the usual process during media day.
who in their right mind allows someone to board a racecar with only a helmet?
Unfortunately the FD Media Day only requires pants and closed shoes (and a helmet), though i'm sure this will change...
@@KevinDarwish03 hopefully
2:25 ban this guy
That’s not drift smoke.
