Karen Applegate, that is so very unfair of you to say about a man who saved countless peoples lives from starvation in Africa thanks to his compassion for other people and his brilliant organizational abilities. All you have to do is read all about Bob Geldof's liife to discover what has always been the most important things to him in life to know this man really does care about other human beings, he doesn't destroy anyone. I believe Sir Bob handled the situation of losing his beloved wife, Paula to Michael Hutchence better than any other man on this planet. Michael Hutchence was a man who ran his own life the way he wanted & it had nothing to do with Bob Geldof.
Michael had a drug problem... on top of medication that messed him up. Heroin and antidepressants and alcohol don't mix. Bob was in the middle of a messed up scene... you could say Micheal messed him up. Genius sensitive poets , both.... trying to filter out the overload of stimulation that fame brings. I'd say Bob was a stronger soul and persevered... but, maybe he was just lucky and didn't get the same cocktail of drugs. There was a reason Paula and Micheal were together...like attracts like.
I could listen to Bob all day long. I really enjoy listening to all these interviews with him.
