Watch IPL. Batsmen with no technique slogging across the line of flat pitches with no technique. And crowd roaring and treating it like a b grade masala flick. Cricket these days is PATHETIC. Glad i rarely watch, other than border gavaskar, ashes, or world cups
monsoons cloudy weather and nice green grass on the outfield ...great cricket not commercial and so exciting and simple and a challenge for the batsmen as most were good bowling tracks unlike now boring and biased towards the batsmen
The real game of cricket has died long ago. If you want a glismpse of what real cricket looks like, then you can watch Donald and Atherton's duel in a test match, Donald vs the Waugh brothers, Akhtar bowling at top speed against India in 1999, etc.
@@inquisitive8903 Warwikshire won the match, emphatically. But Leicestershire did recover pretty well to post a respectable total on board. But watching County cricket on Star Sports was a thing back then.
Such a privilege watching him and Donald and ntini as a kid. Even as an Aussie it was fun watching them go head to head with Waugh, Hayden, langer and Ponting.
He might end up being the only player in the history to take a double hat trick as well as being one of the wickets of someone else’s double hat trick.
@@kunalthaf760 not sure there is such a term or stat officially recognised. Personally though, for me double hattrick can be when you take 6 wickets off 6 consecutive balls. That has never been achieved.
I used to spend hours watching county cricket in India as a kid in the 90s. This era is now consigned to history. The English cricket fans have now become a bit like their football counterparts. The classy fans are long gone.
This was a time I guess star sports(or some other channel) acquired rights to broadcast English County games in India, and i watched this live. If I remember, it rained after sometime
Pollock during the 90s was as good as McGrath if not better. But his bowling suffered during the 00s in the aftermath of the Cronje scandal, when the South Africa captaincy was thrust upon him.
He was great in the one-day games but over the 2 seasons (1996 and 2002) he took less than 3 wickets per game in the championship and has never been considered an overseas legend. He bowled too much of a defensive line and length to take wickets in the 4 day games.
Complete bollocks. When it comes to test matches, Pollock is perhaps the greatest second change pace bowler of all time. Only Jacques Kallis and New Zealand's Neil Wagner are comparable in terms of number of wickets for a pace bowler starting 4th.
Shaun Pollock always Answered to Batsman by bowl,,,, Not from his mouth... Respect Sir... From Sri Lanka...
I want that days again... Golden days of cricket...
Seems like an eternity ago
Times when county cricket used to be an absolute delight like a medicine for a cricket fan like me.
How times have changed😢

We miss this simplicity in cricket now
Definitely 👍🏻
True
He always surprised batters with his pace, always bowled faster than he looked. And of course the accuracy and subtle variations.
Naaah. He wasn't quick. The speed guns throughout his career proved it.
His ability to hit the seam was what troubled batsman.
*Pollock , McGrath , Walsh , Shane Bond , Asif 🔥 those are some elite group of seam bowlers*

Yes, I also remember watching the entire match live, I was in my summer vacation after 8th standard.
I also watched it live. I think on bbc sports
Yep I remember that too!
One of them wasnt out i guess.... ? It came off the arm guard?
Also tge batting team won the match eventually?

County cricket used to be so good to see. 10 times better than ipl matches today.
why comparing a T20 league to first class? also, county cricket is never so popular..
IPL seems like the same match, every match. Really doesn't feel like proper Cricket.
That’s like the same thing every generation kid would say due to nostalgia. Sit down and enjoy cricket dumbo.
Me khud bhi Pakistani ho lkn haqeqat sun le. Pakistanio k pait me dard hota hn jb tk wo ipl phr tanqqed na kare..

A time when the Players and & Spectators both were Gentleman. But now The class of cricket at its low. Specially after T-20
Really 💯💯💯💯

Shaun Pollock
Most Rhythmic bowling style ❤
I so remember watching this game….used to watch snything that was on tv back in those days
Pollock was a outstanding fast bowler
I absolutely loved this scoreboard format. Small and enough.
What a Amazing Legends Pool we had in Past as a Bears Fan this was Glory
My favorite player legend
Watched live here in Karachi on my personal dish setup
And I watched in Bombay in my house in Pathan Wadi
Shaun pollock was a pretty good bowler
Most disciplined bowler in line & length after McGrath 👍👍
Hadlee was the equal of both of them. Possibly even better with what he did with the ball in combination with his control.
He is a great all-rounder
Still remember this match, one of the exiting match in late nineties, 🙏🏏

Nasty comment. You have no idea what county cricket is like now. Issue is cricket is so fragmented.
Good old days. Nostalgia.
This is the real cricket and real cricketer
Miss seeing this legend bowling ❤️
Watched this live on star sports - memories
Watched this match live in star sports
According to me Pollock has most elegant, stylish bowling action and very difficult to copy.
I had watched this part live on TV. Good old days
This was a time I guess star sports(or some other channel) acquired rights to broadcast English County games in India, and i watched this live. If I remember, it rained after sometime
I had watched this match live back then.
When I watched this first time on star sports, I thought shaun pollock was actually from england and playing for south africa!!
This was the first live televised County cricket match on Star and I watched it live. Remember the 4 in 4 vividly.
Pollock during the 90s was as good as McGrath if not better. But his bowling suffered during the 00s in the aftermath of the Cronje scandal, when the South Africa captaincy was thrust upon him.
What a joy, proper sweaters brilliant players. County cricket is a pale imitation ( with a few exceptions) of what it was.
Shaun pollock - SA
Chaminda vas - SL
Shoaib Akhtar - Pak
Javagal Srinath - Ind
Were best bowlers in 90's to 2K
Wasim akram, mcgrath, ambrose, walsh, donald,
Leicestershire
182/9
Warwickshire
(34.2/50 ov, T:183) 183/3
Warwickshire won by 7 wickets (with 94 balls remaining)
Debut of? County? Because clearly he was a test cricketer at the time of this outing.
I bet Shaun never bowled better than that for Warwickshire.
Vintage pollock ❤
I am American, I have no idea what is happening here. I can throw 92 mph, all I gotta do is throw a sinker into the ground and hope he doesn't hit it?
Great....
4 balls and 4 wickets iz hard to do and he done it in hez first match tht tht iz crazy he must be the Best bowler
What a family!
Indeed. 3 international cricketers with the Pollock name, and all 3 of them genuine greats.
I had read about Pollock's feet in newspaper, those were the days! 😊
i had seen this live !
I remember reading about this in the 1998 Guinness book of records!
Nice 90s county cricket…
Who wants to believe that i was watching this match live
I did too and I believe you. Star sports?
remember this just like yesday
Watched this live as an 8 year old on TV
Moral of the story: Send in a lefty earlier!
How much did Leicestershire make in that innings?
Shan Pollock was the best spaceman ever
Thank you IPL for ruining cricket and reducing sportsman toTIK TOK dancers
❤🏏👍

It may be a first cls record at that time
franchise cricket wasted international cricket 😮😮
Leicester still ended up winning the game

He was happy to be second best just like south africa
Bowled pretty well when SA toured Australia, but he was never on Allan Donalds level. He just didn't have that extra venom.

That high arm action 👍
