Nobody knows more about slinging "power cubes" into cars they weren't factory-fitted to than Turbo Yoda - it'd be great to see him and Woody come down for a week and help you put the Lexcen together (with a pair of turbos hanging off it)...
Nar need the Hoff to put a truck sized turbo in the spare wheel tub in the back 👌🏾
At least now you know the drain channels on the Trolvo are clear. Silver linings and all that.

Out of all the Car's that didn't finish DCW, I still couldn't believe it when you announced in at the Driver's brief on Sunday! Sure, its got a few KM's but you'd think it would've have had one last run left in it.
But now it's time to turn this into the TRUE Street Machine commuter vehicle, I can't wait for the day that Scotty and Telfo go Rock, Paper, Scissors to see who get's as a Daily!

I've been watching you guys, BCW, and the SkidFactory for eons. And as someone that isn't a mechanic at heart. Shows like this give me the inspiration to spanner on myself.
6 months ago I changed my own main bearings and now I'm building a hybrid LLT/LFX engine.
I think I should drop by with some free beer at some point. Any preference?
(And yes, I'm well aware its the wrong VE... my old man had a VE Valli tho. does that count?)

Those welded bolts behind muffler are standard on those Scotty. dealt with too many to count lol
Scotty mate head of to Bunnings and get yourself a handful of white PVC 25mm plumbing end caps they make excellent end caps that fit over the tailshaft and seal up against the output shaft seal no more leaks mate for about $1.50

That gearbox oil was pretty burned up
The 4L60 and first lot of 4L60E's were a nightmare forever coming into my workshop causing my mechanics and myself headaches galore not to mention the pissed off customers. Yes the grief of them pissing fluid out either pan gaskets or your right pump/converter seals half the time they died due to fluid loss one way or another.

Highest K's I've ever seen on a car was in the vacinity of 835,000 on a VL Commodore that a car yard was seeling as a 'bonus parts car' along side another mildly done up VL. As bad as that number sounds, I have owned 2 VL's that both had 'bad' odometers, so its theoretically possible that the real number was even higher! Despite all that, and that it was being all-but given away, it apparently DID still run!
I have an XD panel van in my front yard with 1280,000 km on it …

I bought it 6 years old and 200k on it

There is a lot of stuff online about V8 k frames being needed for V8 swaps but I don’t think the belief is well founded. They are the same save for the bracing panels. The V6 bracing has more clearance for the sump. I know that, until recently, you could only get engine mounts to do an LS swap onto a V8 k frame but that’s not the case anymore. Can you please do a piece on what the differences are and whether V8 k frames really are needed and hopefully dispel an internet myth.

Same thing happened to my old man in his VN wagon many moons ago. The converter seal basically melted

Wow! You do so much more dismantling of engine for removal than i ever did. I never remove anything from engine, not even harness, just unplug the wiring from engine to under bonnet harness, unplug ecu and remove harness from firewall. engine comes out with everything on it including p/steer if not using it again.
I didn't want to remove the ECU and Engine Harness at this time
What trans is planned for the Toyota tuff Lexen? Power glide, turbo 350/400/700 🤷♂️

As someone who has owned cars with the 4L60E gearbox I can confirm the insides are made of gingerbread and was the weak link in most cases.

Scotty , would have been easier to just drop the K frame with the Engine and trans as a unit and lift the body shell up.
Makes it difficult to move car afterwards if we need to

Because it can be a bit of a balancing act to get them out that way. Nothing worse than having them slip off the jacks. Plus this way we can still move the car around
Hey Scotty, I have a 2002 VX Commodore that has done 310k kms. The car is due for a service, and I was wondering what your thoughts were about putting Diesel oil in instead. Would it be beneficial for a high kilometer engine, as I have heard... or not?
While not diesel oil specifically, a thicker oil can be better for higher mileage engines
