I just got one locally. Basically it should be the same mount that comes with the gearbox. There was a slight variation. Some engineering work could also do. Cheers
I purchased a manual swapped GLanza V last year and one thing i have noticed is that I can still start it in neutral, telling me that they did not touch a clutch safety switch, i was also told that alot of cars only sold in japanese domestic market didnt have clutch safety switches from factory and i always thought that was odd. Another thing i wish i could find out is what manual gearbox they used
I have 5afe auto transmission. 1st gear shift into 2nd around 2400 to 2500 rpm.due to high rpm shift car jerk. Plus due to this problem also facing low fuel mileage. Cos on low speed in city rpm mostly touch 2000 which is one of the reason for bad fuel consumption. Can u tell what i need to to . What i check transmission fuel ok, plugs ok, throttle body cleaned, kick down cable ok too
Could be an issue with the auto transmission or electronic control - maybe throttle sensor although I'm not sure. Cruising RPM should be much lower you are right about higher RPM's leading to more fuel consumption.
First of all congratulations. It’s a great video and you did an amazing job. I have to put a 4EFE manual gearbox on a 4efte that came automatic. The flywheel is still on the engine. Should I use the manual 4efe flywheel? I also want to know how much gearbox oil I should buy for the refill after converting. Thanks!
Thanks, about 4-5L from empty, fill to level plug. (might've been 75w-90 or 80w-90) I would take it easy on 4efe gearbox, although they may be built just as strong, given Toyota. Yes manual flywheel will only work with clutch pressure plate assembly. Couple small things I forgot to do included the reverse switch which wires to to upper pins on the auto transmission connector, and use a better clutch before putting it in. Cheers
Assembly worked out perfectly. I got the FTE fly wheel and put a good clutch. It works fine. I have a friend in England who put the two gearboxes apart from the two different engines and he told me that they are very similar and let means that they resist the same pressure. Anyway I’m not gonna put 300 hp. I want to tune in to about 180 to be able to use it as a daily car.
@@djfrankieflowers how did this manual swap go. I currently have a auto glanza v and am looking to put in a manual gear box out of a glanza s. Sounds like you've done something similar. Anything in particular to look out for that may trip me up
Hi there. Despite other people on RUclips that never answer to important details that can change our lives, I am going to tell you my great experience. My 4efte Starlet Glanza engine was automatic. My Corolla E21 4efe engine was manual. We removed the automatic fly wheel (dented) and installed the 4efte manual rectified fly wheel. This way we could install the new clutch. The rest was pretty straightforward. Just don’t forget the manual fly wheel bolts!
Thanks again for this video. It was very helpful. I swapped a manual 4efe with a auto 4efte in a Corolla E11. I bridged the pins in the connector for the auto transmission but the engine check light is on. Diagnostics gave my error 22 and 42. How can I solve the get the ECU to bypass the malfunction created by the auto gearbox removal?
No worries. The car didn't have any issues apart from reverse light pins needing to be wired into the auto transmission connector. I'm not sure with the check engine? Maybe the MAF sensor or vacuum lines? (if they have one between models) Cheers
J want to change automatic transmitions with manual to toyota camry 1992 2.2. Is it possible to put the manual transmission from toyota celica or some other models of toyota
Hi there, I'm not really quite sure to be honest. There are quite a few similarities between models, but my concern would be the transmission mounts are likely to be different to fit the body of the vehicle. I would compare the two side by side to identify any differences. Cheers
Wrap with electrical tape evenly on each point until they fit snug for aligning. Can possibly do it by eye if your lucky, but may take a lot longer to fit together.
Did you have to swap the engine? I guess not but i thought you do. I have a 1995 geo metro 3 speed that im thinking of switching from 3 speed auto to 5 speed manual. Just wondering how difficult it would be.
No, the engine did not have to be swapped. It depends on the design of the vehicle, if the body was available in both manual and automatic variants, it will certainly be easier. Cheers
Hi, I'm thinking about doing the same Auto to Manual conversion, is this a one person job (start to finish)? Also, i'm in NZ as well, how did you go about WoF and Insurance etc?
Hi there, one person with the right gear and about 2 days total to replace the transmission. No issues yet after several years, they are all factory toyota parts and designed for the vehicle chassis, therefore from a mechanical perspective it functions as intended. This may be different in your circumstance, in which case I would inquire to your local auto - mechanic workshop. Cheers
@@stefanstoove9254 Hi, thanks for answering. Good to hear that the conversion is holding up and very true about the parts being used for its intended purpose etc. Great video, really informative. where can i get a manual gear box that support all wheel drive please help
Can you please drop a link to buy

my friend good job...one question, revense light is connected...
You can get a spare manual gearbox reverse connector and cut the reverse wires going to the neutral saftey and solder them to the connector
Heya how would you wire up the reverse lights?
From the auto transmission connector you need to wire up and connect 1 or 2 of the pins to the reverse switch located on the transmission housing.
Great work, how did you overcome getting the key from the ignition barrell (disable shiftlock)
Had no issues, may have something to do with the one of the feed cables to the PRNDL selector.

Hey mate I'm in NZ too and considering the swap, any chance you've made any progress or have found anything out regarding wof etc?
You will likely need to have a low volume certification through LVVTA in New Zealand to be fully compliant.

Yes.
Did you install the sandwich plate from the manual car between the block and gearbox?
From auto car, has a little peep hole with a plastic cover. Fit OK.
