    It is encouraging to see younger gardeners setting up farms here in Florida. Orinoco or bluggoe bananas are almost wild in Florida. Almost every wild banana patch I have found was them. I own a few acres in Hendry and 20 years ago I put in banana plants to see if any would grow. Over time they died out because of the poor soil. Here in Miami I use extensive composting and have amazing results. When I do move to my lot I expect success in the garden. My favorite was the Gros Michel which in my opinion is the best banana.,

    I took a shot every time you said “actually” and now I’m waiting for a lived donor.

    I had no idea you’re from punta gorda , very close to me . How are your sugar apples this year? I think it might be a very productive year for sugar apples this year.
    I’ve been looking all over for tall namwahs.

    Hi, mi nino. What do you mean by "chop and drop"?

    • @gardenflorida
      @gardenflorida  3 года назад +1

      Hello Ana, what I mean is after the banana is done fruiting and I harvest I will chop the banana plant down and lay it down around other fruit trees as a mulch, banana has lots of water so it keeps the base of plants nice and moist. They grow super fast too so it works good to use it like that.

      @@gardenflorida wow! That's a great idea, mi nino! Thank you! I'll do the same. I have a just planted ice cream banana and a platano macho. We'll see. 🥰
