    These videos are great seeing what goes on behind the scenes. I remember last year when you had to deal with cold and snow problems, hope it's better this year.

      It is way better this year! The weather has been great. Too good actually. We will barely get in 2 weeks, which means less pay. Some stations in MN are already done. It is only worth it if you can make a certain amount. Especially driving 2.5k miles round trip. I think I will end up ok but not even close to last year’s pay. Getting out of here by mid-Oct will be nice though.

    That's interesting. I didn't realize some of our table sugar came from beets until I watched your video last year. I hope the weather remains stable for the operation and you enjoy working the harvest.

    Wow very interesting and fascinating, had no idea was used as sugar that way. Could hear you pretty good. Thanks for explaining the whole process and what the culverts do. Be safe out there, I can imagine it's crazy once everything gets going. Anyone else in a small vehicle like you working there?

      Not quite as small as mine but there are 2 others in a mini van and an old 70s van. The minivan seems like a small suite compared to my Jeep lol. Your “small apartment” mini-van would fit in no problem :)
      Im sure there are more in other camp grounds, but that is all I saw here. A lot of small pop ups too. We are all in one area... so no one comes on our side of the tracks haha

    Good luck with the skid steer. I had to learn too and now I run a Caterpillar 980G in a gravel yard. Enjoy your videos.

      They ask us to plan to be here all month, but it looks like we will be done in another 3-4 days. It was a harvest for the record books as far as speed due to the nice weather.

    My husband and I look forward to your posts. What is your plan for your next adventure, after harvesting the sugar beets is done?

    • @simpleoverlander
      @simpleoverlander  3 года назад +1

      Christine G I will head back to NC for the rest of the year and hopefully do a couple of short trips. One should be into the Smokey Mountains and then maybe into GA. I need to also try and plan out next year, and hope the virus eases up the borders so I can go to New England, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland next year. Nothing solid yet... just ideas :)
      Thank you for watching!

    Very interesting, does it smell sweet or like dirt?

    • @simpleoverlander
      @simpleoverlander  3 года назад

      Both! But we have a conveyor belt that gets clogged in a certain spot, and so it can run really hot in that area...it actually smells like molasses in between cleaning. Smells really good!

    Love all your vids, more so as a fellow cherokee owner and camper. Beet videos are realyy great as they are a favorite of mine.
    What lockers are your running? I know you had a change out to a Aussie? Have a Dana H/P 30 and a 8.25 Chry. and am headed that direction soon. Thanks!
    The farming vids are very interesting. Thanks Jeff

      Hi Jeff. I had an Aussie locker but after 3 years it started acting up. I just switched to a Spartan locker on my front Dana 30. So far it works well. I don’t have the rear locked and won’t do it unless I do an e-locker or something that is switchable. No plans to do that though.
      The more I hear about all the planning and numbers regarding sugar beet farming, the more amazed I am about how complex it all is. I always appreciated the industry but am astounded as to how much calculating and planning it all takes. Very cool stuff!

    Hi Joel, how did you register your XJ as an RV? I'm in PA. Sorry it's off topic. I couldn't find your contact info. Is there a private message option through RUclips? Any advice is appreciated.

      Here is a video I did on what I needed to do to get the camp site to allow me as a class B RV.
      ruclips.net/video/ax2rJ2k9mwY/видео.html
      It was fairly easy with what I ready had in it. All I needed to add was a dry sink and I think a cooler.
      I know there is a PM on YT but always have an issue finding it. You can reach out via email @ vtnabuyer2@gmail.com
