I am glad you made this video. There hardly seems to be any tutorials on this feature. I tried this out today, but my experience was different. Instead of a white triangle, I had little footprint icons within the compass itself. As I got closer and closer to my starting point, the feet got further apart
Thanks for the video: I typed the steps so I can remember them: Set Starting point: Open Compass app Tap on Waypoint, bottom left corner Tap the date and time and give the point a name. Optional: apply a badge color and icon Tap on the bottom-right, Backtrack button Allow permission for location services Start walking Back to starting point: Tap on Backtrack Tap on Retrace Steps Follow the white triangle on the Compass app Tip: Open Watch Settings > Display and Brightness > scroll to Wake Duration > 70 seconds
as I approached my starting point on the return trip, a white horizontal line appeared on the watch face on one side of it and then gradually moved across the watch face until it crossed the middle of the watch. At that point I was pretty close to where I started from originally, but no real indication from the watch that you've arrived! So I'm a bit confused about the white line and am wondering if it is telling me what I think it might be telling me. I've looked on Apple Support pages but see no mention of it and most reviews don't mention it either. Curious
Thanks Parag, just bought am Apple Watch and about to test this out tomorrow, very handy. Good luck with your adventures and your channel, I know how much effort you must be putting in, subscribed ✌🏻
When you are backtracking, you need to follow triangle(symbol) or arrow. There may be many dots, which are way points, but only one triangle shape symbol which is giving you direction to move back to your starting point.
@@paragsworld what does the horizontal white line mean that appears to move towards the center of the watch as you return on your route? As it crosses the center of the watch, am I to assume that means I'm back where I started?
@@paragsworld No RUclipsrs have explained this properly yet. I still cant figure it out. how do you know which direction to walk looking at the white arrow? What is the red arrow at top? What is the line that appears.
You can use maps as well. But maps are generally used for navigation purpose from one destination to other but this feature is exclusive in Apple Watch, creating way points are very handy and backtrack records your entire path so that you can retrace the path. It is very useful in crowded places. Thanks for your comment by the way. Appreciated👍🏻
If you are trekking and off the grid, this helps. this was not meant for cities but for places where there is no mobile service. I use this while trekking, it helps
I was going straight because the road was straight. The direction of the triangle is the initial position of the starting point. If you had noticed, I took right turn in the end to follow the triangle. The idea is to keep moving in the direction of the triangle. No matter how you get there.

This is perfect for exploring new territories

Good to know. Thanks for writing in 😊
very helpful, thanks Parag! I also love looking at the sky lol
So many symbols. You did not explain the symbols I just saw symbols moving. I did not understand what you were looking at.

Now check the video again and follow the same.

So instead of using this , would you not just use Apple Maps on your Watch? Or am I missing something.

@@paragsworld where is the triangle?
@allen480 the one that indicates to a particular direction which you need to follow in order to reach to a point for which you are back tracking.
