She stuck with family and neighbors because of her age in the beginning, but the ice cream shop she worked found out, and it took off from there in our small town. I tell her to do a good job for people, go above and beyond, and it pays off.

This is LITERALLY every step that I took when starting my pool cleaning business. Weird watching somebody else explain this out loud. But this is dead ass what it takes. Not that hard once you get the ball rolling.
Personally, I started with no liscenses or insurance, before I graduated high school. It’s a great opportunity to get a jump start with so little costs, and I can do that because I live in a small town and nobody’s too concerned about liscenses and insurance. Everybody knows me anyway.
He left out the part where if the water runs into storm drains the homeowner can get fined 50k. This type of business is horrible because either this dumb ass knows about the clean water act of 1972 And is violating It at the expense of his customers, or he doesn’t and shows how unknowledgeable he is about his own business. Doubt he’s letting the homeowners knows he’s opening them up to fines of up to 50k. And I can tell from the video he isn’t capturing the run off. Better start an LLC too for when homeowners start suing the piss out of you.
I think this mostly applies to any business that includes labor. I really admire your dedication and entrepreneurial mindset. For anyone else, any skill or idea can be profitable. Maybe pressure washing doesn’t work for you, but if you rather do dog walking, tutoring, or car washing, stick to one and follow these steps mentioned in the video and replace pressure washing with the skill. This is exactly what I did when I started my lawn care company. I started this season with a push mower in my girls smart car, now I have a truck, and $10,000 worth of equipment. Just reinvest everything back into the company, and you will be fine. Good luck everyone!

@@asylumrain what you need to do is save up like 2k for a truck over the winter, and buy a cheap pushmower, rake, and leaf blower. Go house to house, and Facebook Marketplace looking for clients, and charge $20-$40 depending on each lawn, and save up even more for a shitty trailer, and a riding mower. Then just jeep saving, and reinvest your money by buying more/better equipment.
This is exactly what me and my dad do and I cannot stress enough how true this is, you guys better follow this guy if you plan on pressure washing, after all it’s a really good way to make money!
I think the same thing applies to landscaping as a whole. While I recognize that there is a noticeable difference between your neighbors teenager mowing your lawn, and a master landscaper mowing your lawn, I would absolutely have the teen do it for cheap because I don't care about my lawn.
@@davidreeding9176 what the 2 have in common is attainable overhead components and a pretty inexhaustible demand. You can get a pressure washer and a buffer for not-impossible. For a little more, a mower/edger/weed-eater/blower/something to haul it all with. At that point it’s just a matter of hustle and practice, but you can learn while earning.
Guys, If you going to do that (pressure washing driveways & concrete walkways), Tag-on a sealing service for another $300. Pressure washing will allow water to penetrate through the concrete because previous sealant and a layer of fines got removed. In places where winter temp gets below freezing overnight, having water seep into the concrete during the day and then freezing during the night, is not good.

WARNING Many power washers like that have interchangeable tips that can change the amount of pressure never use the red one unless you're trying to destroy something. It will strip paint off and even damage concrete and mortar and blow the face off bricks be careful wear SAFETY GLASSES. They are usually color coded black, yellow, red, green, Make sure you test them before you use them on a customers property. Always test the nozzle on an area that won't be seen. Be safe those things can be dangerous. "If you do a good job for someone they might tell 10 or 20 people and you might get 1 or 2 jobs from that. Over the next few months or years. If you do a bad job they will tell anyone that will listen for the rest of their lives and you will lose countless jobs because of it" Mortar Joe
Step 1: Have money. Step 2: Have a parent who already has equipment. Step 3: Have friends who own property. Step 4: Have more money. Step 5: Hope people trust you. I say all of this as someone who does pressure washing professionally. It can be lucrative, but this is not a good list.

Help someone in need (esp. the elderly), tell someone you care about they’re amazing, compliment the chef who just made your delicious dinner, post something positive or leave a kind comment on social media, even just smile at people around you... And it will make you feel pretty awesome, too. 🙌.
Patent attorney here, I am going to give you guys some advice I have gained by working with hundreds of entrepreneurs. (This video was actually a damn near perfect explain on how to start any small business by the way) but what I am sharing will pretty pretty much exclusive to service businesses. Okay onto the advice, if you are starting a service business Step 1: Go around to businesses/houses, tell them what you do. Step 2: Inform them you are going to clean a small portion for free to demonstrate the difference it makes (if they consent of course). Step 2a: Before even talking with them try and keep an eye out for places that will be frequently seen by them, neighbors, customers, etc. Step 3: After you have determined the spot which will have the biggest and will be seen the most clean that one area. This does several things, such as proves your service is legit and shows how badly the client needs your service done. By choosing a clear and obvious spot which is frequently seen that client can not forget about you, they can’t unsee the difference, and they will start to think very legitimately about giving you a chance. (I don’t have time to proof read this I’m sorry if there are any errors).
I used to work for a guy with a power washing business but he did mostly tractor trailers. We would go to companies like coca cola, post office and places that deliver food and groceries to supermarkets we would clean hundreds of tractor trailers a day I know he made alot of money because I was friends with his son and they were definitely well off. And he used to own a deisel fuel company but sold it to start power washing so it must be worth it. Gotta respect the grind no matter how big anyone's company is tho. 🤙🏾

1 problem is competition, if too many people start doing it, whoever has the deeper pockets will always win. They can undercut and force out competitors then raise prices after getting the territory to get back their losses.
No dude. Quality work wins every time. Deep pockets don’t mean the work is good. I know plenty of shops that are my competitors that have deep pockets and can’t compete with my quality and skill level. They hire people at cheap wages to do their work, guys like me do it ourselves and take extreme pride in doing good work. That’s who wins in the end every time. Be good at what you do and you’ll be fine. Poor quality work loses customers and gives a bad reputation, leading to losing potential future customers.
The bigger customers will higher cheap and sometimes that means illegals or immigrants who have green cards. Residential power washing is what I see everyone doing. Can't make a living unless you have a monopoly or franchise that has all of the contracts. Yes you have to start somewhere but the big boys laugh at these guys.
Fantastic. I did the same thing at age 15 but I painted chain link fencing silver. Was making up to $400 a job. I've since moved on but haven't been broke since.

I’ve been doing this for years now , as well as painting +home improvement. I always have steady work and easy money to make . It’s the big neighborhoods , once word to mouth goes around about how good the work is it’ll pile up for sure .
I don’t believe you need a business license to do service work like this, at least in most places in the United States. You can just go out and do it. Insurance, that’s a different story. That’s good to have.

You need a license in Florida for any type of service business like this, and insurance is a must. Neither one costs that much, but not having them can cost you a fortune. Unlicenced contracting work in Florida is a criminal offence due to all of the scam artists that take advantage of people, and insurance is needed to C.Y.A.
They make a really cool thing for cement like that where it's got 2 pressure heads and spins and will evenly clean a surface like this. And it's much faster.

Big money in it if you live in the right area! I run a trucking company and we’re constantly at the port of Baltimore. Dude I used for pilot car services quit to pressure wash machinery that comes in since it’s not allowed on port grounds unless nearly spotless. 250 a pop per machine and starts and 730 and ends at 430
Honestly, most home owners should invest on a preasure machine and a lawn mower! It may be a bit pricey but ill save you thousands of dollars in the long run.
My ex fiance did this business plan for lawn care including mowing, weedeating, and blowing off. He also did pressure washing. Went door to door for customers and upgraded equipment with the money he made and some financial help from me. Business was booming for us! It really worked! Then he relapsed & started doing meth & cheated. Point is, this business plan really works! Don't do meth though!
I did that years ago! When you do one house or driveway the neighbors see it and generally want their house or driveway done too. You do need to have a pressure cleaner that has a pickup hose that you can put directly into a bottle of bleach. The bleach is necessary for proper cleaning. The bleach gets mixed into the water and is greatly diluted. You cover the area with the mixed bleach and then pressure clean it off along with the mold, dirt, and stains.
Learn what surfaces can be pressured washed. Had a brick patio I watched being done for a neighbor, guy had come by 5 or 6 times before neighbor broke and gave him the job. Guy blew all the sand out of the joints and patio was uneven a day later with voids from water erosion everywhere. Guy didn’t even realize what the issue was. We had to pull up all the bricks, sand, grade and lay the patio all over again. It was not a fun weekend, but at least the bricks were clean.
This is exactly true. And different PSI on different surfaces. Some surfaces can't take the pressure and deteriorate. You don't want to be the pressure washing professional who thinks every surface is the same and doesn't know why the driveway or tiled porch is destroyed.
@@katrinashostakovich3607 Low PSI pressure washer. Like very low. 100-1500 max. Brick can take time to shown the damage too. I'm not a pro, I just have used a few different pressure washers for helping grandparents and family over the years, and I have seen family use high-powered washers that destroyed deck tile. I would ere on the side of caution in any case, do your research. I'm sure there is a lot of data about washing brick.
The beauty of America is that you can start a business for *literally* anything and if you’re better than the competition you will have great success 🇺🇸
Not "better than the competition" but cheaper....meaning the only way to theoretically make it is to do it for less money than those before you....so just remember if you pass it on your kids will naturally make less than you did....and the license and insurance is a choke point because its not always as simple as just "getting them"

I was actually wondering what he was meant to be doing with all that water. Like if je just leaves it pooled up somewhere, the dirt/oil/grime is just going to stain that spot. And washing it down the sewers might be a no-no depending where you live.

I got some lawn signs, and buisness cards made, which helped alot. I even put my cards at stores and gas pumps and stuff lol

If you going to do that (pressure washing driveways & concrete walkways),
Tag-on a sealing service for another $300.
Pressure washing will allow water to penetrate through the concrete because previous sealant and a layer of fines got removed.
In places where winter temp gets below freezing overnight, having water seep into the concrete during the day and then freezing during the night, is not good.
However, then you cut down your return wash rates.... Science.

Many power washers like that have interchangeable tips that can change the amount of pressure never use the red one unless you're trying to destroy something.
It will strip paint off and even damage concrete and mortar and blow the face off bricks be careful wear SAFETY GLASSES.
They are usually color coded black, yellow, red, green, Make sure you test them before you use them on a customers property.
Always test the nozzle on an area that won't be seen.
Be safe those things can be dangerous.

I say all of this as someone who does pressure washing professionally. It can be lucrative, but this is not a good list.

Patent attorney here, I am going to give you guys some advice I have gained by working with hundreds of entrepreneurs.
(This video was actually a damn near perfect explain on how to start any small business by the way) but what I am sharing will pretty pretty much exclusive to service businesses.
Okay onto the advice, if you are starting a service business
Step 1: Go around to businesses/houses, tell them what you do.
Step 2: Inform them you are going to clean a small portion for free to demonstrate the difference it makes (if they consent of course).
Step 2a: Before even talking with them try and keep an eye out for places that will be frequently seen by them, neighbors, customers, etc.
Step 3: After you have determined the spot which will have the biggest and will be seen the most clean that one area.
This does several things,
such as proves your service is legit and shows how badly the client needs your service done.
By choosing a clear and obvious spot which is frequently seen that client can not forget about you, they can’t unsee the difference, and they will start to think very legitimately about giving you a chance. (I don’t have time to proof read this I’m sorry if there are any errors).
I’m just here to say that I truly enjoy watching things get washed and cleaned. Especially when the one doing it is so systematic and thorough!
I used to work for a guy with a power washing business but he did mostly tractor trailers. We would go to companies like coca cola, post office and places that deliver food and groceries to supermarkets we would clean hundreds of tractor trailers a day I know he made alot of money because I was friends with his son and they were definitely well off. And he used to own a deisel fuel company but sold it to start power washing so it must be worth it. Gotta respect the grind no matter how big anyone's company is tho. 🤙🏾

1 problem is competition, if too many people start doing it, whoever has the deeper pockets will always win. They can undercut and force out competitors then raise prices after getting the territory to get back their losses.
Something to be aware of, but not singularly deterred by.
Just the cost of doing business. If your quality is top notch then cheapest doesnt always get the contract sometimes you win w quality

No dude. Quality work wins every time. Deep pockets don’t mean the work is good. I know plenty of shops that are my competitors that have deep pockets and can’t compete with my quality and skill level. They hire people at cheap wages to do their work, guys like me do it ourselves and take extreme pride in doing good work. That’s who wins in the end every time. Be good at what you do and you’ll be fine. Poor quality work loses customers and gives a bad reputation, leading to losing potential future customers.
The bigger customers will higher cheap and sometimes that means illegals or immigrants who have green cards. Residential power washing is what I see everyone doing. Can't make a living unless you have a monopoly or franchise that has all of the contracts. Yes you have to start somewhere but the big boys laugh at these guys.
Fantastic. I did the same thing at age 15 but I painted chain link fencing silver. Was making up to $400 a job. I've since moved on but haven't been broke since.

I don’t believe you need a business license to do service work like this, at least in most places in the United States. You can just go out and do it. Insurance, that’s a different story. That’s good to have.

You need a license in Florida for any type of service business like this, and insurance is a must. Neither one costs that much, but not having them can cost you a fortune. Unlicenced contracting work in Florida is a criminal offence due to all of the scam artists that take advantage of people, and insurance is needed to C.Y.A.
You do need atleast an occupational license an liability insurance doesn't hurt to have

Pressure washing paths/ driveways is the quick easy part, it's the cleaning up that takes the time, dirt up walls ect..
They make a really cool thing for cement like that where it's got 2 pressure heads and spins and will evenly clean a surface like this. And it's much faster.

Dude I used for pilot car services quit to pressure wash machinery that comes in since it’s not allowed on port grounds unless nearly spotless. 250 a pop per machine and starts and 730 and ends at 430

Honestly, most home owners should invest on a preasure machine and a lawn mower! It may be a bit pricey but ill save you thousands of dollars in the long run.
Step two: have the time to do this and not make money right away
people want to have a nice home and nice office or store. so people who would work to clean up the garden, roof and so on, are good. this is nice.

Went door to door for customers and upgraded equipment with the money he made and some financial help from me. Business was booming for us! It really worked! Then he relapsed & started doing meth & cheated. Point is, this business plan really works! Don't do meth though!

I did that years ago! When you do one house or driveway the neighbors see it and generally want their house or driveway done too. You do need to have a pressure cleaner that has a pickup hose that you can put directly into a bottle of bleach. The bleach is necessary for proper cleaning. The bleach gets mixed into the water and is greatly diluted. You cover the area with the mixed bleach and then pressure clean it off along with the mold, dirt, and stains.

That is a terrible idea. Chemicals are pointless to use if you have a strong enough rig. Invest in a professional rig about 3k and then talk

Learn what surfaces can be pressured washed. Had a brick patio I watched being done for a neighbor, guy had come by 5 or 6 times before neighbor broke and gave him the job. Guy blew all the sand out of the joints and patio was uneven a day later with voids from water erosion everywhere. Guy didn’t even realize what the issue was. We had to pull up all the bricks, sand, grade and lay the patio all over again. It was not a fun weekend, but at least the bricks were clean.
This is exactly true. And different PSI on different surfaces. Some surfaces can't take the pressure and deteriorate. You don't want to be the pressure washing professional who thinks every surface is the same and doesn't know why the driveway or tiled porch is destroyed.

@@katrinashostakovich3607 Low PSI pressure washer. Like very low. 100-1500 max. Brick can take time to shown the damage too. I'm not a pro, I just have used a few different pressure washers for helping grandparents and family over the years, and I have seen family use high-powered washers that destroyed deck tile.
I would ere on the side of caution in any case, do your research. I'm sure there is a lot of data about washing brick.

Not "better than the competition" but cheaper....meaning the only way to theoretically make it is to do it for less money than those before you....so just remember if you pass it on your kids will naturally make less than you did....and the license and insurance is a choke point because its not always as simple as just "getting them"

I was actually wondering what he was meant to be doing with all that water. Like if je just leaves it pooled up somewhere, the dirt/oil/grime is just going to stain that spot. And washing it down the sewers might be a no-no depending where you live.
Well its the property owner who gets the fine from EPA right now. They can be fined like 50,000 a day if the water has dangerous chemicals.
