This thing is absolutely killer! The time invested will be so much more rewarding when it all comes together, especially knowing you built it yourself. Can’t wait to see more 🤘🏼
Very cool! Really enjoyed watching the progress of the plate work. I always have such a hard time envisioning "how". You had some really cool ideas going on there!
This build is coming along great! Looking forward to seeing this thing finished, and especially curious as to how you're going to mount the filler neck. My father and I did a flatbed on the '84 and never liked how the filler neck was mounted on ours.
another little thing you might want to consider would be to add a receiver up near the headache rack to be able to mount a small atv winch for pulling things onto the deck if you need to . Just my 2 cents tho , Great channel
I know your doing raptor lining, but I think a natural patina rust look would be badass then some sort of clear texturized clear coat over it! But either way this is a badass bed man!
Great job so far really enjoying all of your videos. Are you going to put tie down points for like strapping stuff down on the flatbed? Also what's your plan for a fuel filler neck? Maybe you could find or Fab up a nice flush mount one. Looking forward to your upcoming videos!
With all the Fab work you have done on this bed what made you go with the move front bumper. Dont get me wrong it looks great but looks to me like you could have came up with just as nice of a bumper
I wonder how all these custom flat beds do in a rear accident, you put a nice steel flat bed on thats almost as strong as the frame you will gain a ton more impact to the body in a rear end crash. These new trucks are made to crumple up in a rear end crash to save the body. I used to know a guy that had a custom built jeep, the thing was built so strong someone rear ended him, it didnt ever hurt the jeep but he died instantly from organs smashing up against bones in his body. Just trying to decide if I should do steel or aluminum.
Sick build on the deck man , I was wondering about your small circular saw for metal what kind of life do you get from the blade ? looks like a sweet tool to get . and beauty shop you have .
Hey man you should really put some rails on that flatbed will help keep things in when you do put anything in the bed I mean of course I still have to strap it down but the The rails really help and I would say go online and look at some that are already premade kind of like the one you can buy off the rack type situation for trucks and see how they put theirs on a truck and that’s how you should do it if you choose to take it off one day and put your original bed back on
Things are moving along pretty quickly and it's all looking good. All the triangles make it look really "custom". I wonder; is there anything you can do with the paint (or maybe lining/striping) to accentuate all the triangles? Just a thought.😁 One thing I thought of: is that sheet metal hanging down at the back going to act like a huge scoop, catching mud, stones, water etc? It's a bit late now but, if you're planning any lighting on the cab roof, or on top of the headache board, would the vertical tube maybe have been useful for running wiring? I'm no fabricator so please don't think any of my comments are criticisms; I'm just kinda thinking aloud.😁 Cheers for now, Dougie.
And I don’t know where you live or anything like that but have you ever heard of Daytona track meet or Sema this truck I’ll be really sick to take it to one of those truck shows after it’s all done oh and by the way I I have a 99 Tacoma with a 3 inch lift and also I am a new subscriber you’re welcome 😂
Love how the truck is turning out. I am excited to see how the flat bed turns out. I finally am motivated to finish my 02 tacoma tdi swap.. hows your clutch holding up? I am thinking of trying to order one tomorrow.
Don't put any sort of liner on it you will regret it. RUST CITY MAN. The stuff that was primed and painted then liner turned out well. But the stuff that was wiped down to get the oil off then lined rusted out bad.
Bro, 14 gauge would be just fine. Wtf do you plan on puttin back there? 10gauge is gonna be way to heavy. I did it in 2x6 for my 85 hylux. But its exo'd in .120 1-3/4" 3 link w/ panhard rear, and triangulated 4 link front crazy steering (push pull) hydro ass, 18" fox 2.0 stickin thru the hood. And mt bed has sides, fenders, and a slammin tailgate. She flexes over 50"
because im pretty sure he got some inspiration from optimal weldings offroad welding bed, and it was intended for 3500 diesel trucks. its not exactly the same and scaled down though.
Damn!! I love how this flatbed is turning out! 💯🔥 Keep up the grind, it's appreciated!!

Chris Kinkead thanks man! I’m loving it so far!
You did an outstanding job on them cuts on the tubes dude. It’s hard getting them to match up like that.
Looking good Austin. Gonna be really sharp when it’s done!
Very cool! Really enjoyed watching the progress of the plate work. I always have such a hard time envisioning "how". You had some really cool ideas going on there!
Completely loving it bro, flatbed was the best idea
Nice work! It's SICK looking. I love it. Looking forward to future indevers.
Man that is looking so sick! Bedliner is going to look kick ass. Thanks for documenting the whole build man it’s been really fun to watch.
Stumbled across you channel this morning.. Subbed and now I'm binge watching. This thing is sick. Great work.
Welcome!! Thank you and enjoy the channel!!

Great lookin flat bed man keep up the great work
Man this truck is sweet! I have a 1984 Toyota pickup myself. It’s interesting what you can do with these trucks!
That looks sick!
You're doing a great job , looking good.
leeroyphillips thank you!!
It might be taking time, but it's looking bad ass!! Another bonus.. You won't see another like it.
Austin, good job. you are a good fabrocater.
Looking good slowly making progress on mine
nice work looks sick!
Bro I love it! It’s looking awesome I’ve always wanted to do a flatbed on my 96 Tacoma! Can’t wait to see it done!
Do you go over your welder set up any of these videos. Awesome work!!
another little thing you might want to consider would be to add a receiver up near the headache rack to be able to mount a small atv winch for pulling things onto the deck if you need to . Just my 2 cents tho , Great channel
Awesome bed
Bed is looking great🤘🏻
Love this!
If you sealed up the bottom of the 2x4 uprights for the headache rack, drill some holes in the bottom. It will get water in it.
The 2x4 uprights are completely sealed!
Looks wicked ! 🤘🏼
Pretty work ......👍👍‼️

Matthew Brandt I have plans for tie downs! And filler neck I really don’t know yet!
Looks killer man, curious what the final cost comes to for the flatbed. Makes me wanna build one for my truck
Love the part with your brother or whatever🤣🤣
With all the Fab work you have done on this bed what made you go with the move front bumper. Dont get me wrong it looks great but looks to me like you could have came up with just as nice of a bumper

Tie downs or any D rings or side marker lights before coating ?????
Mark Clark yes hoping to do that before I coat it
Holy shit! That thing is looking beautiful, making me want to rip off my bed and put a flat bed on my 3rd gen taco lmao, keep it up man.
Thanks!!
It’s looking great I’ve been looking for a site like yours diesel plus flat bed , What about the license plate maybe recess it it would look good

Man it’s looking good! Have you thought about the amount of air that rear plated section is going to catch and cause drag?
Do you have build plans for this?
Could u put together a video on welding?? Truck looking class👌👍
Gerard Curran I could do that someday! Thank you 👍
tow hitch, leave room for the spring hangers to move back under load
Damn I love this bed. How much for you to build me one for a 2012 long bed Tacoma??🤣🤣
Looks good what does it cost To build
one
oh plan on $1000 or so if you have tools!
What's the saw you are using to cut the plate?
Eastwood Mini Metal Saw: amzn.to/2UbTbOb
Be sure to cut a few vents in the rear or it will act like a sail and catch every bit of wind and create a ton of drag
Either that or change the rear so that it goes out instead of in and under the flat bed.
Muy bonito me gusta mucho tus videos .algún día quiero tener una Toyota de esas .Dios lo bendiga
Love how the truck is turning out. I am excited to see how the flat bed turns out. I finally am motivated to finish my 02 tacoma tdi swap.. hows your clutch holding up? I am thinking of trying to order one tomorrow.
joshua steffler clutch is slipping just haven’t got around to changing it!
@@austinniemela well thats not what I was hoping to hear ,so what clutch do you plan on trying out next?
joshua steffler I’m doing a southbend and the 3.4 flywheel. The marlin clutch should hold on a stockish TDI no problem
Just subscribed. This shit is looking wicked. I know I'm late to the party but damn.
Flatbeds looking badass man. Got any plans for stacks for your diesel or nah?
1990_4Runner no probably no stacks I have too much into my exhaust as is haha
Are yo going to try and put mud flaps on?
mike diltz yeah I’ll get something on there
HAVE YOU WEIGHED THE THING? OMG!
roughly 500 pounds
How much was the sheets of metal?
And202rew roughly $300
Thanks
How much did this cost?
around 1200$ to build
Looks great! Is it gonna weight like 1000lbs though?
GrizzlyPath naw not that heavy lol
Prob in the neighborhood of 400.
According to how much materials I used and the weight per foot, estimated around 500 pounds
Austin Niemela 12 gauge tubing, and .120 2x4?
Anomilumi Imulimona it’s all 11 gauge (1/8”)
👍
Nice nice like
Don't put any sort of liner on it you will regret it. RUST CITY MAN. The stuff that was primed and painted then liner turned out well. But the stuff that was wiped down to get the oil off then lined rusted out bad.
Anyone here have a rough estimate to build a flatbed similar to this? Material and labor all included.
Great design and build. Need a hoist or gantry to replace your bro....off and on, repeat.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏🙏
Por15 first raptor liner after, you will thank me later
Adrian Mercier I’m doing a good 2k epoxy primer under the raptor!
20:38😅😂😅😂😅😂😅👏👏👏
GA Mantenimientos 😂😂
@@austinniemela muy buen trabajo amigo lo felicito me encantaria armar una camioneta asi para mis trabajos soy de mantenimiento!!
Umm excuse me it’s not just a cardboard template...the technical term is C.A.D. cardboard aided design

She flexes over 50"
The plate 1/8". Not too heavy, total weight i estimate is 500 pounds
FALA MAIS QUE UM PAPAGAIO.
Cool! But, it seems to me that the design is too heavy.
because im pretty sure he got some inspiration from optimal weldings offroad welding bed, and it was intended for 3500 diesel trucks. its not exactly the same and scaled down though.
Lost me with the fender side things. Look really nice without them.
Go check out OptimalWelding, he builds flatbeds that are pretty similar and has some great ideas and tips on em
I would like your channel much more if you’d clean up or eliminate the profanity.
Where did u get the saw from?
