Very refreshing to see the audio tech get some respect! Getting to observe how you guys set up musically is crazy -- no other touring bands would dare do this!

Hey Lonny, thanks for having John give us the lowdown! These types of setups are becoming the norm for many bands, including small bands like ours, of which we have a similar setup albeit a much smaller scale, but it works! Shout out to John for being an awesome tech!

I was trying so hard to understand everything in this video (and I failed horribly), but I loved seeing all the behind the scenes stuff! It’s way more involved and complex than I thought. Kudos to your crew members. 🤘🏼

Yeah we have the best crew! They work so hard each day and are all so incredibly skilled at what they do. They truly make the show happen and we could not do it without them.

Since you are using our gear (iConnectivity) I'll give more info on the tracks + MIDI setup.
The PlayAUDIO12 is connected via USB to the computer on top. They are using a software called Ableton. In Ableton they will write a Program Change (PC) # in for everytime they want a change on the kempers. This gets sent to the PlayAUDIO12 which has an ethernet cable which goes to the mioXMs which were right under the PlayAUDIO12 in that rack. These mioXMs have DIN MIDI (5 pin) connector ports on them which can connect to the Kempers.
The PlayAUDIO12 has 10 1/4" outputs for all the tracks which we heard were connected to monitoring area.
The littler keyboard on top of the rack side stage was connected USB to the PlayAUDIO12 on the front and gets sent through that into the computer.
Often people will have 2 computers connected to the PlayAUDIO12 so if one computer dies the second will continue on. This is why the keyboard got connected to the PlayAUDIO12. IT can send to both computers at the same time to keep them starting and stopping together.
A fellow Canadian musician using gear from a Canadian company (iConnectivity).
I'm assuming the drummer was getting tracks triggered from stage from an SPDSX connected to a mioXM?

Some classic bass player-isms in this lmao. "I didn't know that was in there. We are playing that song tonight? That song has violin?" Killer video.

Just wondering a few things, as i'm also a touring musician using kempers:
Do you also notice that it takes the screens a while to update the current program/control changes? It switches instantly audio-wise but it sometimes takes the kemper like a second or 2 to reflect the changes on it's hardware. Which is strange.
Also may i know why you don't implement the program/control-changes for the bass-kemper? The transpose is also midi-controllable
