  • Cadet 2nd Class Stephen E. Williams, assigned to Cadet Squadron 20, was killed in a one-car crash on campus. Williams was a systems engineering management major and a manager for the academy football team. It is unknown whether Williams was performing any duties related to either of those roles when the crash occurred.
    Brig. Gen. Richard Clark, the academy's Commandant of Cadets, said in a statement released Tuesday that Williams' death was "a tragic loss" for the Air Force Academy family.
    "We ask everyone to please keep Stephen's family, friends and wingmen in your thoughts and prayers," Clark said.

    This is a 3 rifle volley (which is, despite the name, possible with 3-7 rifles). A 21 gun salute is actually done by a battery of artillery pieces, and only used for heads of state.

    Thank you for keeping the video up all these years. I'm sure it's painful even though time has passed, but this has ended up on all my "america" and "patriotic" playlists. It symbolizes more than just the loss experienced in the moment. The salute and taps are a required part of the celebration of the freedom and life that we have. That which is good is built atop that which was lost. It's impossible to understand the freedoms we have now, imperfect though they may be, without also understanding the cost it took to get here.

    I must ask, why is it that whenever I hear American drill commands given, the precautionary is rather long and I can't pick up any of what they're saying. It sounds like they're giving commands drunk.
    Someone enlighten me please!

    • @spiker84
      @spiker84 9 лет назад +5

      Short answer - Command voice (command presence)
      Slightly longer answer - Its the way that commands are taught to be spoken, even though they're actual words on paper. Its full of subtle cues the ending the word with a 'P' sound for a sharp movement, and rolling the end for a longer one. I could go on, but I'm too lazy to type that much out.

    Can't we agree to disagree?
    Stop arguing over what the proper termanology is an pay tribute to the loss of a young airman.
    The bickering on this video is a disgrace to his name and to all others respected in this historic military tradition

      Elite Tanker an M14 is essentially an m1 garand with a detachable magazine equipped. Next closest thing would be an M1 carbine.

    • @ronaldrobertson2332
      @ronaldrobertson2332 6 лет назад +5

      Reaper25 The M-14 IS NOT a bolt action rifle! It is semi-automatic. A semi-auto rifle cannot cycle a blank cartridge ( unless a blank adapter is used), so the bolt/charging handle is manually used to eject the fired cartridge and chamber the next one.
