I used the old formula for years and just recently decided to buy the new one to try and I really love it! It's way more soothing, calming and hydrating imo.
I've used both. The old version irritated my skin and gave me pustules on my skin. The new version is hydrating, soothing, and compliments my tretinoin so well.
@coco1596 I have tretinoin cream so it makes more sense to me to cleanse, toner, serum then let it dry down for a couple of minutes, then apply my tret cream and finally moisturizer.
@foxatomic lately, I've been using Stratia Interface in my morning routine and then Zeroid Richenic cream in my evening routine. My favorite evening moisturizer is Regimen Lab C.R.E.A.M. 2.0 but I recently ran out 😑
I did not try the old version, but I found the new version so soothing and non-irritating compared to a lot of centella serums such as the skin1004 ampoule.
This serum is a holy grail for me. I used the old one daily for years. I compared the new one right to the old one before finish my last old bottle and found the new one was thicker and had more body. I have very very dehydrated and sensitive skin. My skin is just as (maybe even more) hydrated and calmed with the new serum.
Kelly I absolutely love how detailed and technical you are in explaining not only products but why marketing around them may have changed! I especially loved your easily understandable breakdown of the changes to the ingredient labelling laws as a law student haha! I love your attention to detail and willingness to explain the finer points.
I never tried the old one but I love the new one! So light, soothing & hydrating! Please can you review the new Centella sunscreen? Also, have they reformulated the Centella Unscented cream? It's my favourite moisturiser!
I have one of the old in my backup now but I got the reformulation right when it was announced and opened it as soon as I got it. You’re definitely right about the hydration levels. I haven’t used it consistently enough to see how well it calms consistently but it’s not a “one night usage wake up in the morning with amazing skin” product necessarily… I feel like torridens balanceful serum and the real barrier cica fade-in serum are more hydrating and calming for me, but that’s just my skin (it hates mugwort for example lol). It’s great for layering but as a one and done serum it definitely is lacking. Some people may also like the lighter texture but it’s odd bc the original was already pretty light to begin with
Hi! Im planning on buying the torriden balanceful serum, could you share your experience with it a bit more? Does it calm inflammation better than the purito?
Looks like I'll have to test out the new version too, especially since so many people are saying that this version is better! The old version was ok, but not my favourite.
Thank you for a very informative video. I had noticed ingredient lists changing but didn't know why. I always struggled a bit with the texture of the old formula on my oily skin so for me this is probably an upgrade. Anyway, thanks for the in-depth comparison!
For me it's an upgrade if centella has increased. I've never found this serum (older and newer) to be hydrating on it's own accord, but more so calming and refreshing, especially applying after a toner or/and exfoliating step. Hydration I'll get from a moisturiser and spf. Great explanation and break down ⭐.
Wow, the way you explained that was so informative! I was following and understanding everything you said & you also made me think! You'd make a really good teacher 😂🤍
Whenever I saw 94 percent such as Tony Moly's Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate First Essence, I already suspected that other than the active ingredient, there was a lot of water and stabilisers in the compound.
Thank you Kelly for explaining this. I literally didn’t understand it even though I read about the changes. You’ve explained it perfectly and now I understand. My brain doesn’t work the same since I turned 50 😂 thank you lovely lady ❤
I have this serum and at first I didn’t know if I really liked it. It felt like nothing. I wasn’t sure if it was worth taking a spot in a skincare routine… however I had an allergic reaction and I put this on my neck and it immediately started to feel better and by morning the flair was gone. So….its staying in my routine.
Kelly ❤This serum has been my HOLY GRAIL reliable since I started my skincare journey. I have extremely sensitive and rosacea/redbess prone skin that reacts to EVERYTHING and this serum was everything I needed. I can always rely on it. I have purchased the new formula, and while I agree that it doesn’t feel as… thick? I actually enjoy the fact that it is lighter, because now I can layer it without overwhelming my skin. I loved the old, and I am loving the new reformulation. My skin relies on centella, and I will continue to use it ♥️ SIDE NOTE: On the topic of Centella: Have you tried or can you look into the new HARUHARU wonder center phyto & peptide cream Also The KAINE green calm aqua cream? These both claim to have great ingredients- and the Kaine mainly for the green complex. I love the toners from both brands and am wondering if these creams would be good daytime options for sensitive combination skin 🩵🩵🩵
I have used the former version only. Unfortunately, I experienced breakouts every time I used it consistently. As a result, I stopped using the former version completely. 😢
Aww this is exactly what I feared 😥 I felt exactly the same way about the original. The plumping juicy bouncy effect was what I liked. I feel like this could be fixed by adding some more peptides or increasing the % to bring that back or at least adding some tramella to bring back the body. I'm glad it's still at least good, but it's hard to live up to the standard the original set!
A am a fan of the old version. I still have one bottle left and was wondering what the new formula would be like. So thank you Kelly, this was very helpfull. ❤
I remember I tried the old serum many years ago and totally forgot about it, I assumed these were totally new products rather than re releases. The two sunscreens also seem to have changed unless those are new
Oh no, I just got the old version of the unscented toner on sale, and just LOVE how plumping it is! Hope the formulation doesn't change in the same direction as the serum, being less plumping.
I literally just discovered this brand. Like, yesterday lol! I already purchased and received them! I got them off amazon (from the Purito store, not a 3rd party) and this was one of the products i got because i read itvwas great for sensitive skin! cant wait to see how it works out! I also got the From Green Deep foaming cleanser, and the oat in gel creme...but i think those may be the old packaging. Also got their cica clearing bb which I just found out was their old packaging. I wonder if I should return it and get the new version?
I was just using the OG version in my routine while I was watching your video and have a horrible cystic zit right now. I feel like it is a calming and soothing serum but it is not very hydrating which is good for me in the summer. My skin is super shiny ALL day (which I don't like). I am curious to try the other one now. This serum was nice for me post laser since I couldn’t use anything with actives but wanted to help repair my damaged barrier. I guess I like the fact that it isn’t too hydrating or occlusive. It is a very light serum for me.
The old version was very greasy on my oily skin. Unfortunately centella products do nothing for my redness and acne e.g. this product, Purito centella cream, Skin1004 serum and Cosrx cica serum.
I think if you are looking for quality centella you don't necessarily need quantity. The extraction process will include a lot of filler ingredients like water. I'd suggest looking for the biologically active compounds of the centella plant for ultimate benefits. Madecassoside, Asiatocide, Asiatic Acid, and Madecassic Acid are what you want to see on an ingredient list for quality Centella.
@@KellyDriscollthank you so much! I am looking for a high quality centella to use alongside my vitamin c serum as i have seen several reports about how the combination helps to greatly increase collagen production, but the people i have seen talking about this are saying its best to have a high percentage of centella to make it a truly powerful pairing with the vitamin c serum- i thought thats what i was getting with the purito unscented serum! So disappointing!!! ❤❤❤
Hi kelly!! love your videos. i really want to try the make prem toner as you have mentioned that it is the best toner for dehydrated skin. im a bit sensitive to hyaluronic acid but can tolerate it in small percentages. should i take the risk and buy it? i think it would do a better job than the dokdo as i have extremely dehydrated skin :(
I'm so curious, how will brands change product names because of new laws 🤣 And will they disclose the actual percentage at all? Some are not transparent with percentages
Cosrx is more soothing for irritation, numbuzin is good if you get acne. Both have the same amount of hydration and the same texture! Cosrx costs more per ml. Hope that helps!
Thank you for this comparison, it's a pity. This serum is my holy grail; I've stocked up on 5 bottles of the old version. I'll try this reformulation in 2026 😅😅
Thank you so incredibly much Kelly! I have bee wondering about this! I was going to purchase a trial size to see how I liked it, but it was the old version I think! It’s really quite cheap atm ( about $3 usd for 15ml) . Do you think the old version will give me enough indication if I like it? I’m pretty sure I will . Or just get the new one now? I don’t mind if it isn’t as plumping and happy to use up the old version. ( currently using the ordinary amino acids + b5 and wanted this to replace it!☺️ I need soothing & tackling hyperpigmentation products) I think I would like it to be more light weight tbh ( dry skin but don’t like anything heavy on my face!)
Thanks for this video. I was wondering if I should give the new version a try, so this is timely. Just started using Numbuzin toner 1 and hoping it works well for me. Can you share your recommendations for summer moisturizers for dry, dehydrated but acne prone skin? Would love a video. Have a fabulous day, Kelly ❤
I would also love a video on moisturisers! I used to use Cerave last year until my skin developed a sensitivity to hyaluronic acid, now everytime I use it it burns and I instantly get some sort of dermatitis. Now I need a very emollient cream, even though its summer but have no idea what the skin would like
I swear these Korean products have some ingredients that manage to get away from the ingredient lists. EVERY Korean sunscreen that I tried irritated my sensitive skin. I’m sure they include an irritating ingredient that gets away. Thank god for French pharmacy sunscreens. But still loving k beauty
No matter how you want to phrase it, I must say K-beauty has been quite shady, or to say it nicer, strategic in marketing. This ingredient label change is one thing (which definitely affected many consumer's choices vs. other market's products) and even before that there was this spf scandal... For Asian brands, I rather stick to J-beauty which doesn't have such criteria and are known to have much stricter protocols.
