I went to that last Griffins home game. Was honestly one of the most exciting games I've ever been to. Killed off 2 different 5 on 3's, 4 goals in the 3rd, Berggren with a hatty, then locked it down. Sucks they couldn't win today on the road, but holy cow what a final game at Van Andle Arena. Berggren has gotta be on the team next year. The kids are doing well. LGRW 🐙 🏒 🤘

23:15, pausing to say that the powerplay was doing fantastic without Kane early on in the season. There were several points late in the season with both Kane and Ghost that the PP was non existent or looked awful due to zone entry troubles. Not only can the powerplay be OK without them, it can also be 10x worse.
Unless they address the chronic issue of zone entries, the specific players are a slightly lower concern.
(All that being said, I think both of them being back is the right call)

Consensus top3-top5 player in the league year in year out, and plays Center which instantly fixes our Center depth

Will y'all be able to get to Sennecke and Connelly? McKenzie has them at 14th and 15th. I don't get it. I have Jiricek, Brandsegg-Nygard, Chernyshov, and Hage (none of these in McKenize's latest top 15) over them, and I haven't even looked at all the guys I want to (i.e. Luchanko, Emery, Beaudoin, and Solberg).

I would be OK with trading 15 for 11 right now. Might pay less to do it because there isn’t a Catton or Iginla or whatever preferred option stating a team in the face. Chicago may have felt that way and would be OK with “guaranteeing” a Greentree, Nygard, Senneke, Connelly, Hage or Jiricek with their pick now more or less. Probably was cheaper. Like the teams that trade for a player before the trade deadline approaches and pays less because they don’t run into a bidding war.

38:00 funny, Sprong has the same time on ice as Kane, and almost the same point stats, Kane has slightly more, but Sprong has slightly better in terms of production vs higher level competition.
Sprong has more takeaways, less giveaways, more blocked shots and less expected goals against than Kane.
Kane has had the support of the top 5 players, Sprong has had the bottom 5.
And even when looking at line efficiency rankings, Sprong is part of 5 lines ranked higher than Kane's best, including sprong-Larkin-Raymond at 13th. Kane-Larkin-Raymond shows up at 24th in Xgoals.
So he's younger, cheaper, better defensively, and produces better at the top and bottom lines compared to Kane.
But I agree he seems to have an attitude problem with the front office, I'm just sick of blowing smoke up Kane's ass.
If you removed the names and just looked at the stats anyone would see Sprong is the no-brainer, if nothing else just for his age vs Kane's

    • @georgial6398

You are talking utter nonsense. Some selected Patrick Kane team ranks on Detroit:
      at 5v5:
      xGF% 5th
      GF% 5th (3rd among forwards)
      CF% 6th
      FF% 4th
      SF% 3rd
      SCF% 6th
      IPP 1st
Goals 3rd (3 behind Ray, 2 behind Cat, in 32 fewer games; tied w Sprong, in 26 fewer games)
      Points 6th
      Goals/60 1st
      Points/60 3rd
      Shots/60 4th
      iSCF/60 5th
      all strengths:
      Goals/60 2nd
      Points/60 1st
      IPP 1st
      xGF% 1st
      GF% 2nd
      CF% 3rd
      FF% 2nd
      SF% 2nd
      SCF% 3rd
      HDCF% 2nd
      HDGF% 2nd
      Relative CF% 3rd
      Relative FF% 1st
      Relative SF% 1st
      Relative GF% 1st
      Relative xGF% 2nd
      Relative SCF% 3rd
      Relative HDCF% 2nd
      Relative HDGF% 1st
game winning goals 1st (in 32 fewer games)
      OT winners 1st
      shootout goals/winners 1st
Kane was one of only 6 Wings to be a + at 5v5 this year. He had the 2nd lowest GA/60 at 5v5 among the top 6, behind only Perron and well ahead of Cat Larkin and Raymond. And on and on and on. Sprong ranks very highly in some of the purely offensive production based categories, right up there w Kane. But he falls like a rock when you go to the relative and % categories, bc no, he isn't better at defense. he's awful at defense. Kane despite his reputation does his job defensively, and his line w Cat and Larki (the team's best all year by a lot) was miles better than the Raymond version at not giving up goals or chances - besides being miles better than it at actually converting goals.
Kane at 5v5 was one of the best players on the team. Kane w the power play factored in was arguably the best player on the team, and certainly in the top 2 or 3. also, Kane did all this while relatively rarely playing w Dylan Larkin 5v5 or on the power play, the only legit top 6 center on the team. if he'd been full time w Larkin and Cat he'd have been Auston Matthews last season. not an exaggeration.

I never thought I would say this as I really want Kane to stay BUT Bergrgeen does play a very similar game and has been lighting it up in GR - I I could see him replacing Kane, he could do a little better, he could do a little worse but there is at least someone in the pipe you could slot into that position so long as your expectations about a 200ft game are realistic.

    • @wyattbarnes9641
      @wyattbarnes9641 Месяц назад +1

That’s a huge discrepancy in talent and production. Berggren is probably more of a Fabbri replacement for me, you could clear out his 4M cap hit and have someone replace his production for a fraction of the price.

I would like to see if he shows up and does not disappoint in the preseason is Kasper make the Roster he is so good and better than Bert in the corners and behind the net and passes the puck he does need to shoot more and when he has the puck he goes to the net and not just fire from the circle ect. He is talented and I would not mind seeing him and Mazur get some recognition. I don’t want SY saying oh if we were a bad team? They are not going to be any better this season so Atleast see what they could actually prove and they can always be sent down. Not to mention Danielson he could have been on the team but SY is blocking the younger players and he gets worse in FA. Let them Atleast try. Don’t just sign a FA because you don’t want them yet because they have waivers ect. It’s dumb that even playoff teams had rookies playing.
