6:02 At first i thought it might have been an ESC Soft Low Voltage Cutoff but after watching several times i noticed the 25% throttle timer start and stop beep several times prior to the stall. I never try to turn a jet with low throttle. Probably 40 to 50% minimum, especially when dirty (flaps and gear down). The flight time was also excessive by almost 1 minute.
Thanks Jeff, and thanks for playing the video on your stream. Kinda glad I was alone when I crashed this one. Got it way to slow on that final turn. Lesson learned.
It was ahead of you from the get go and EDF's are a handful for us new guys but to your credit, you realized this and were trying to compensate.. I'm a long time RC'er (1968 !! :-) but new to EDF's so I'm pretty conservative and I'm not ashamed to ask for help.. BTW.. It's not "The walk of shame" .. it's a learning experience so next time? Go earlier in the day, get the all trim issues squared away on the first flight and try getting the approach speed and landing configuration set up at a safe altitude before trying a landing.. and see how slow you can get it while up there to.. Upside? You were brutally honest about your flying, the cause of the crash and ya didn't whine or blame FMS.. You did good !!! Press on with pride !! (wish I coulda been there to help you) Blessings
My admiration for having the courage to post a part of the hobby we’ve all experienced! Spectacular skyscape, but the video suffered a bit from “speck in the sky” and I couldn’t really see what happened at the end. Perhaps giving the videographer assignment to someone else would have allowed a better video and you to concentrate on flying.
The flight was on the edge all the way through. It seemed to be a handful for you. The T-33 is a docile jet, but yours was flying like an F104. Don’t be reluctant to use a gyro. It would probably have made this flight more successful.
It seemed very pitch sensitive the entire time. If you don't have your planes set up with low, mid, and high rates on a switch... I would highly recommend you do so.
Definitely a plane you want to start on low rates. We have a short runway, and I usually take off in high rates. Forgot to switch to low - was trying to trim it out. Live and learn.
I suggest next time go three mistakes high and trim out everything before going into normal flying routine. That pitch trim anomaly ate you up as you were turning on final. It dove, you overcorrected, and lost the plane. Done that myself. I used to think I could fly an untrimmed plane but found out the hard way after multiple crashes that I can't. Not for long anyway
Sorry it didn’t go better. That is a hard time of day to fly. At least for me it is. I quit doing those short low altitude abbreviated landing approaches. No turns over 90 degrees. It’s very easy to get slow and stall trying to get lined up on final. Once the wing drops there isn’t enough power at that altitude to save it. I personally don’t use gyros. If a plane won’t trim out I land immediately. I crashed 3 in 1 weekend about 3 years ago. I eventually traced the problem to a pinched wire harness inside the radio but that didn’t matter. What mattered was I changed how I fly.
Great flight though. Yeah it's part of the hobby ,but i still hate crashing lol. Iv crashed mine a couple times doing earobatics with it lol. It is a stally jet
Thanks T. I did order the ARF yesterday night and used your reference number. Hopefully, MotionRC will credit you. And you are right. I stalled it turning into final. Battery was low, but I should have carried more speed into that turn.
Maybe it's just me but every time I watch a video where someone crashes they seem to go through the same scenario. 1, the plane is not trimmed correctly. 2, they not flying "3 mistakes high" to allow for recovery. 3, the lighting conditions are poor and 4, and most importantly the plane is way too far away from them. Now don't get me wrong I still do my fair share of crashing as I'm only a new pilot but it's my belief that you should always keep your plane very close to you. Particularly if you are doing a RUclips video otherwise we are just looking at a tiny dot on a screen. But the point is the closer the plane the easier it is to see and control especially if the light is low. And the plane should be flying high level and at slow speed until it's trimmed. All of my planes have is AS3X and SAFE. Flicking your switch to safe will dramatically increase your chances of saving a plane when losing orientation. Just my honest opinions. Despite this do feel your pain. It's a horrible feeling crashing a nice model especially if it's a Maiden as well.😪
Pretty much. Reduce the throw by moving the linkages in one hole on the servo arms. Use low rates. Get it trimmed quickly and start shooting approaches. Land before the battery gets too low. Use at least 50% throttle in the turns. Don’t fly when it’s too dark. The FW T-33 is bad about tip stalling.
Eh idk he owned it almost the second it went in. Admitting fault in multiple areas, I say well done!! I've flown RC and real ones for 26 years from gliders to 50-100cc 3d, Helis to building drones running red cams for Paramount. Not bragging but I havent crashed in over 7 years and that was a brain fart derp idiot stix moment lol ALL ME!! Looks to me you got lost in the light and maybe yanked instead of banked lol. As far as that save me AS3X GYRO bs goes, learn how to save yourself. Youll NEVER learn that muscle memory otherwise, gyros are awesome in big wind small plane factor just not a fan of that other instasave stuff but to each their own. Nice flight man, cool plane!! Thanks for the video!!
@ I’ve been flying RC for 61 years. Spektrum’s SAFE is an excellent way to learn the instincts needed to fly. The problem with gyros is that very few know how to set them up. They will crash your plane if anything is backwards.
@@txkflier how do you figure? Instead of learning how to control your aircraft and the inputs needed to do so you really think a person can learn more by just thinking OH NO, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET OUT OF THIS!! I'll just hit my fix it button, no biggy. Yea right lol.
It a sad loss. The whole flight was edgy and you had little control of the model. We have all been there but try to walk before you run. Skills come with stick time and practice.
From start to finish. Your T-33 was unstable and far too much over control. Yes. I have one. You mean, you crashed it. Got to give you credit though. It took courage to post this video.

Darn sorry about the crash, you had a great flight going too. Zoom zoom crunch. Jeff in LA USA

Well which is it? Jeff in AL or Jeff in LA?

Hard to watch, we have all been there elif you've been in this hobby for any time.

Came here from Trav’s channel. 👍🏻
Sorry to see that buddy, it happens. Pick yourself, dust yourself off and go again 👍
It’s ok, we’ve all been there. The sky was incredible!
lossing orientation alwaysss sucks sorry man!! Keep flying it happens to us all!!!

Oh no - such a good looking plane. Almost didn't want to watch....
Lo siento mucho 😢😔

The plane was severely nose heavy but I think you could have landed it. It seems you just had a dumb thumb moment.

Thanks for the kind words.
Warum fliegt man bei so einem schlechten Licht, die Ausschläge sind auch eine Katastrophe, schade um den schönen Jet😢
Looks like an expensive hobby

At least that was not some turbine with thousands of dollars in it-the kind wives divorce over if crashed.
WAY TOO MUCH ELEVATOR THROW FRIEND
Exactly. I put it into a high speed stall and the rest was trying to recover it. Thanks for watching.

Man that was going so well until…🫣 Hit the sub! 👍🏻
