Went back and compared this with how it looks in an Engine Master's episode, crazy what a transformation a bunch of lights can make on video, such a difference!
1.04 You never know what is gonna come through that door. One thing I've learned after 21 years- this is my Rick Harrison. I'm my son and my old man is a pawn shop. Big Hoss has a story and a price. This is my I work here.
I don't care what the general public thinks fryberger you're ok I still want you to show us the engine master so folks can see the difference or if it's even worth porting and polishing aftermarket heads and manifolds
Thanks David, always been intrigued about west tech since the earliest roadkill episodes it was featured in (rotsun?), seems like it would become my home away from home.
@TheDavidFreiburger I am starting to enjoy these Behind the Scenes episodes more than the actual Roadkills shows- mostly because we get to heat you share your wealth of knowledge on stuff. If only you had a beard- you'd be the Bob Vila of cars! As I imagine with a lot of other viewers I'm limited time and money-wise to work on so many different types of builds and brands so these episodes are great. If you were to start having a bit more of this approach on Roadkill I think it would be great.
This is great always wondered about west tech. Seemingly forever but especially after watching the the first mazdarati episode and after pulling the cork ie: glasspacks out of the boat headers it set off car alarms. Bey the way Mazdarati still my favorite roadkill vehicle/motor trend subject. period!!!...
They post one episode of of Roadkill Extra and one episode of Daily Fix for free on RUclips every week. MTOD subscribers get 4 more episodes of each show, plus 5 episodes of Dirt Extra every week.
David thats a 1940 Chevy pickup at 1:10 ,.. you was close my friend :-) ,.. 1939 had no little lights on the front fenders (turn signals ? ),. 1941 they moved the head lights from the sides of the hood down to the front fenders , got rid of the little lights and had a totally fatter body in 1941 .
That header dept (both areas) reminds me of Andy Mannarino's Total Automotive I used to work at. Upstairs was a lot of headers for dyno use. Side note; Directly behind the shop is a residential subdivision and Andy had such a serious muffler system there he'd never had a noise complaint!
I just subscribed to motor trend on demand this past week and I'm really enjoying it. I do think the app could use some work...like the ability to rotate the entire app into landscape, instead of only being able to rotate the episode playing into landscape.
Maybe it has something fascinating like a 1J or 2JZ...maybe an SR20DET? I'm all for keeping the original for originality purposes, but I already know that if that were my car, or in my charge, it would have already been under the knife having a Beams 4AGE or something crazy like a 1JZ implanted into the engine bay. I'm not one for staying original, but that AE86 is CCAALLEEAANNN!
+Robert Keeton I have a 4AGZE in a 86 Tercel wagon. I don't have a turbo on it yet but I had three of the original engine below up on me just daily use.
If that is heaven I'll start believing. If I bought a Blueprint 632 should I have Westech tune it before I get it or does Blueprint do a good enough job?
No it's not. They confirmed on episode 16 of Unicorn Circuit that the Roadkill/MCM collab episode will be released on both Motor Trend On Demand, and RUclips on the same day. (As well as an episode on MCM's channel of Moog and Marty building Roadkill's car)
not necessarily. Could have just swapped timing covers. I've done it to my RB20 before. Though I couldn't imagine anyone affiliated with that shop would waste money on an RB20 though.
i think there should be a engine master episode using the same motor but change out the intakes doing a dyno comparison from all the main edelbrock carb intakes to the trickflow r intake and other commonly used carb intakes just my 2 cents
Because fewer people like 60fps than dislike it, at least for a show like this. Look at the trendsetters: Is Grand Tour 60fps for normal shots? Nope; they only go high FPS for action.
Went back and compared this with how it looks in an Engine Master's episode, crazy what a transformation a bunch of lights can make on video, such a difference!
Behind the scenes and especially tours like this are brilliant. Really make the shows live for me. More of these please!
OMG! Great Episode! That place has & does some Amazing Work!!! Header & IM Heaven!
That was a great tour around Westech.
Thanks
after watching engine masters, questions came up about Westech and this behind the scenes answered them - thanks
Great video.....my first time with a full Dyno tour.....thanks for the tour
Appreciate it - nice to see the facility and all the gear.
being a broke as F motorhead this video makes me cry haha. all that good hardware just collecting dust!!
I feel your pain bro

Cade Hinds cool trustfund bro
cade hinds *your parents have 10k.
Wayde Morris I do
I'll take the AE86 (Isn't it an AE88 for the US Spec LHD?) Corolla please thanks
Figureight nope, that AE88 stuff is a myth, just because the VIN says AE88 doesn't mean that its not an AE86
Thanks for a longer episode! I appreciate it a ton!!!
that is a ae86 corrola with what looks like from the licence plate a 4age 20 valve in it with itbs. you should have checked out that car fryburger.
SimonTrent8000 how can you tell what engine a car has through it's plates?
4age isn't special.
1.04
You never know what is gonna come through that door. One thing I've learned after 21 years- this is my Rick Harrison. I'm my son and my old man is a pawn shop. Big Hoss has a story and a price. This is my I work here.
I love how the intro has an engine struggling to start up, and then at the bottom it says "powered by Dodge"
lmao
Did I see the headers you smashed up sitting on the rack just before you went upstairs?
We interrupt our regularly scheduled commercial to bring you this commercial for our pay per view commercials!!!!!
when is the actual roadkill going to air?
Episode 57 will be released this Friday, December 2nd.
I would love to see an actual episode
Rabit Le Savage Show what?
I'd love to see a tour of Dulcich's shop(s) out at the farm 🙂
I want those float bowls at 8:40.
Great video!! Thanks for the tour
That corolla is pretty much the coolest car to ever be seen on the motortrend channel, except for maybe the crusher camaro.
I am so stoked for this MCM Roadkill crossover
When is the MCM V RK video coming out?
Brap Brap pretty sure mcm said before the end of the year
Brap Brap I think they gonna make it Christmas Special
Don't hold your breath for YT... bet MTOD gets it this year.
well mtod just got an episode yesterday and it wasn't the mcm one...
It's being released on RoadKill's YT, MTOD, and MCM's YT all at the same time according to MCM.
Boy I could build a kickass motor with everything inside that shop.....love it
Freeking awesome. Thanks for the walk around!
Interesting tour Dave, thanks for sharing.
THAT AE86!!!
30GB they probably putting a hemi or chevy engine it in just to do the damge....remember they are sponsored by chevy and hemi....!!!
Irving Torres nope, that's a museum car. They're probably doing restoration work on it
30GB it is ae88
邹凯文 it is "you dont know anything about ae86's"
lol ae86 dumb ass
@TheDavidFreiburger I am starting to enjoy these Behind the Scenes episodes more than the actual Roadkills shows- mostly because we get to heat you share your wealth of knowledge on stuff. We deserve more of this .
Pre-Hellcat Mayhem for me... and.. hm.. .maybe the Draguar on 2nd. Or the Mazdarati.
place looks great. Its good to see behinds the scenes
Amazing stuff, that's a dream job you've got right there.
Keep on the good stuff
I love Engine Masters, so this was really cool to see.
ae86 fans jimmies might be rustled now
My jimmies got hella rustled.
ahahahha maximum over rustling!!...i tought the same thing when i heard Freiburger's comment XD he is not a fan of the non american cars...
Connie Watson
Silver R ae88 lol it's murican
Still an AE86
Love engine masters “thanks for showing us the shop “
99 Red ballons AE86 in the summer sky.
I would sell my soul to work there.... love all the shows..
So here is a question, How do you dyno test an AWD car? do you have to disconnect the rear driveshaft or do they have special dynos for AWD?
Damn thought you'd be keeping these type of videos ondemand but ya'll posting free ones all the time
They post one episode of of Roadkill Extra and one episode of Daily Fix for free on RUclips every week. MTOD subscribers get 4 more episodes of each show, plus 5 episodes of Dirt Extra every week.
Wow thanks for all your hard work. Because of it I became a RUclips junkey.
Wow that west tech is awesome! An Steve is such a nice guy, just a real gentleman.
Thank's for the tour 👍🏽
I would like to have some headers to my very first V8 purchased this year a 454 V, maybe dual 3 " 🙄
the real question is whats that rb25 engine getting done to it lol at 9:55
David thats a 1940 Chevy pickup at 1:10 ,.. you was close my friend :-) ,.. 1939 had no little lights on the front fenders (turn signals ? ),. 1941 they moved the head lights from the sides of the hood down to the front fenders , got rid of the little lights and had a totally fatter body in 1941 .
I liked the red 'vette up on the hoist more, too bad it was covered.
That header dept (both areas) reminds me of Andy Mannarino's Total Automotive I used to work at. Upstairs was a lot of headers for dyno use. Side note; Directly behind the shop is a residential subdivision and Andy had such a serious muffler system there he'd never had a noise complaint!
Is the MCM video out yet? Or will it come out next friday?
1:00 "they've got two halves of the shop" is that like a whole shop? Or is it like carpentry and we are into 9/8 territory?
David Freiburger Stuck together?
frieburger doing his thing,in cargo shorts as per usual*thumbs up from everyone in America*
Oh that's why...continued to watch and have been set straight. ..
that place is awesome wish I had a place like that to play with engines all day
I just subscribed to motor trend on demand this past week and I'm really enjoying it. I do think the app could use some work...like the ability to rotate the entire app into landscape, instead of only being able to rotate the episode playing into landscape.
AE86 GTS with a 3AGE? Correct me if I'm wrong...
+Robert Keeton I have a 4AGZE in a 86 Tercel wagon. I don't have a turbo on it yet but I had three of the original engine below up on me just daily use.
Robert Keeton the reason it's a historic car is because it's all original.
It's a museum car, they're probably doing restoration work on the engine.
Chase Watkins AE86 cars never had Watanabe Type A wheels as stock. The car is modified.
Freiburger how many pairs of camo shorts do you have to go with the westech sweatshirts?
Can we get on demand in the us?
yep
Derp. Meant UK.
Spac8 also yep.
Missing some shows as frieberger mentioned this about a year ago
If that is heaven I'll start believing. If I bought a Blueprint 632 should I have Westech tune it before I get it or does Blueprint do a good enough job?
Is west tech a place i can send a pair of 906 heads to get a great full portwork done as well as in all the Tech articles?
still less then 5k views, i wish that shop was closer to me
Is that a '53 vette in back under the cover at 2:49?
Did you guys ever take classes on how to be in front of the camera or put together a show, or was it all 'on the job' training?
when will the roadkill/mcm videos be released?
No it's not. They confirmed on episode 16 of Unicorn Circuit that the Roadkill/MCM collab episode will be released on both Motor Trend On Demand, and RUclips on the same day. (As well as an episode on MCM's channel of Moog and Marty building Roadkill's car)
Freiberger is such a great narrator.
Spotted an RB25 in there... With a stock turbo. XD
Braskus I'm glad I wasn't the only one to see that, it made me a tad gitty.
Braskus I'm glad I wasn't the only one to see that, it made me a tad gitty.
Braskus is it a 25 couldn't tell off the second it was on screen whether it's a 20 or 25
It had the bump on the intake cam side of the cam gear cover for the vvt. RB25 came with that, not the 20. so its a 25 :)
not necessarily. Could have just swapped timing covers. I've done it to my RB20 before. Though I couldn't imagine anyone affiliated with that shop would waste money on an RB20 though.
you forgot to show us the inside of the refrigerator.
When does the episode of Road Kill and MCM come on?!
SO EXCITED FOR MIGHTY CAR MODS VIDEO!!!!
Does westech ever sell engins ? Parts turbo? Headars??
Jeez, 24 fps pan shots are killing me.
IKR, and ppl pay for this?
Randoom I have MTOD and everything is perfectly fine for me. No framey, no sound distortion, nothing
I doubt it. Shouldn't they upload better quallity to YT to show the best they can do?
Randoom You mean 4K or better fps?
Both.
good stuff! keep up the good work!
That Corolla GT-S needs to have a write-up done! Looks like mine, except, mine is truly original, right down to its shiny original red paint.
How thick is the glass in the control room to make it Roadkill proof?
Knowing Roadkill, that window is probably made out of tracing paper or cling film.
Too bad you didn't put a mic on Brule. Loved getting this tour of Westech, though.
Is that a 50's something Corvette with the tarp on it up on the lift?
that 'yota is literally the cleanest looking example i've ever seen
ill be stopping by soon to get my 68 ford dynoed
i like the fact that they did it in just one shot
just a heads up- that blower has worn Teflon rotor seals and will not make boost
Can you check difference in power with hot and cold gasoline on engine masters.
when is the mcm episode?
They haven't announced a release date yet.
jeremy harmon I heard both roadkill and mcm are doing episodes in December
5:26 is that a living plant at the back? I guess those headers are evolving...
That corolla looks awesome!
incredible and bad ass thank you
Fantastic. Thanks.
roadkill should do an episode about the saturn ion redline! They pulled up by one in episode 19, time stamp 6:50
legendary place.
why doesn't "on demand" not work in Scandinavia?
My first car was a 69 Chevy Impala 327 in blue. It had Astro ventillation baby!
i think there should be a engine master episode using the same motor but change out the intakes doing a dyno comparison from all the main edelbrock carb intakes to the trickflow r intake and other commonly used carb intakes just my 2 cents
Was that a R5P7 at 2:35?
What is a magazine ????
I would love to see what they can do with a 200cid I am building. Of course, I want one of ther 200's they build in Australia.
Wow Freiburger has shoes on
MAD MIKE can't believe no one else commented
:D :D :D :D
He has has shoes when drag racing... they're probably drag racing after that shoot. :D
i saw him welding in those flip flops
how the hell did you get that dagster on the shelf
what the fuck is a magazine?
motoX It's where you put the bullets.
Has to be a pretty big magazine if you're going to shoot with big block engines.
A magazine is a thing thats a cross between a maga and a zine.
That was pretty cool.
lmao never thought id see an rb in the vicinity of freiburger
Steve reminds me of that "rubbing is racing" race manager of days of thunder
badass shop!
why dont you guys film in 60fps?
Because this is their pay per view content....That cost big money....
Because fewer people like 60fps than dislike it, at least for a show like this. Look at the trendsetters: Is Grand Tour 60fps for normal shots? Nope; they only go high FPS for action.
oh got it! I really didnt know why ..
because they would have to buy all new production equipment, which costs money, which requires people to sign up for on demand
"Because sponsors." YAAAAAaaawwwn...
I would love to take a tour of that place
