*Unpopular opinion* but I think the KITSCH rap verses were meant to be tacky and cringe. Rei & Gaeul wrote verses before and never used outdated or cringe phrases like ‘yolo’ or ‘peace out’. The whole comeback feels like a call back to the mid 2010s nugu gg kpop, even the video & styling reflects that. In that sense, I love the rap because it makes sense with the concept of the song. Instead of creating something obviously kitsch, they showed how kpop itself is kitsch by making a sort of parody of it. It’s one of their best concepts.

The thing is with set me free pt2 apparently the “rap” part of the song was meant for suga so if he was on it I felt the song would of been better since that portion of the song would of fit sugas voice a lot more than jimins.

I think ITZY's music is like Pokémon games. It took one release that was so underwhelming even the fans couldn't defend it and now everyone hates on the new stuff (even when it isn't that bad) while the fans desperately heap praise on the old stuff. I've even seen MIDZYs out there trying to praise Boys Like You in retrospect. People will hate on Cake now but that's gonna change when that next album drops.
