    does the supercharger looking valve come with the exhaust? I've seen that mod before on another xvs and was really keen on looking it up myself for future reference

    • @rolandkeith5322
      @rolandkeith5322  2 года назад +1

      No the exhaust is VANCE & HINES short shots and the Kuryakyn Hypercharger and jetting kit is aftermarket.

    Do you know if these fit the 2010 yahmaha v star 650 classic? (XVS65A) im getting mixed answers from the internet.

    • @rolandkeith5322

      Hi back, as far as I am aware from the first model to the latest V-star 650 the engines have not changed and this exhaust will fit any of the v-star 650 models. The only changers made to these engines were some tunning upgrades but that is all. There is far too much cost in changing castings to make different versions of the same engines from any manufacture so the main engine castings remain the same until a complete new engine design comes out, or unless a major error was discovered in the first model run that required changers to be made. However in the case of the V-Star 650’s, from the first to the very latest no changers were made.

    I have these shortshots on my vstar 650, obnoxiously load, very annoying... Got them with the bike so not my choice. Learned to live with that...

    Sounds great! Did you re-jet carbs?

    • @rolandkeith5322
      @rolandkeith5322  5 лет назад +1

      Yes we did not so much because of the exhaust but because of the Hypercharger

    • @brokensmile8487
      @brokensmile8487 5 лет назад

      @@rolandkeith5322 I figured you must have with the hypercharger. I have the short shots coming and I doing the hypercharger next. Do you remember how many sizes up you went on the idle and main jets? 🤔

    • @rolandkeith5322
      @rolandkeith5322  5 лет назад

      The intake came with a jet kit that provided all the bits to change the stock set up and I think it’s an extra you can get with the intake setup. So changed everything over and job done so to say. However I have found that with this new jetting yes the performance did picked up but the engine with this kit runs rich in the lower RPM and lean in the top end not by heaps though but it’s sufficient to know that it is not spot on in the jetting department for maximum performance.
      In saying this though if you get a jet kit as well for the intake it will do the job okay.
      A good performance gain as well is to install a programmable power commander so that the timing can be re-mapped to a more aggressive power curve and advance the total engine timing somewhat as these bikes are set up with retarded timing form the factory to reduce power for learner riders.
      Then the next mod one can do to make a XVS-650 fly is take the heads off and re-port the intake and exhaust by opening them right up then polishing out all of the casting dags and match port the intake and exhaust and then shave off a few thou off of the head surface to up the compression somewhat and with all this done…………..Pulling the odd burnout is not a problem and taking on a 1200 HD sportster for a strong win is not a problem as well much to the disappointment of the 1200 ego HD owners......ruclips.net/video/utj1Rb42R1k/видео.html 😣
      But If one wants to go stupid fast..........Just get a ZX-14 Ninja

      @@rolandkeith5322 indeed the head work would be nice. I've did some port and polish jobs before. That might be next upgrade. Thanks for the info bud.

      This is amazing. I know this video is a little old but do you know if these short shots would work for a 2003? I have a 2003 v star 650 and my upper muffler fell off while I was riding so I figured it’s just time to upgrade.

You do have a need to be embarrassed as you have shown your self the be an idiot that shot off his mouth before looking any further. A classic comment of stupidity that I will pass over to the motorcycle community and the masterful Keith Quinn can bask in his own coffee...lol & fool I might add.
