      What makes you think that? I thought he shot himself. Obviously a murder can be made to look like suicide, but they have their ways of knowing what most likely happened. And I never heard anyone say her son was murdered. Why would someone murder him and stage a suicide? Anything is possible. I never even considered that he was murdered. I don't even know what would be worse, to kill yourself or to be murdered. I guess murder would be worse. Especially if you loved your life and we're happy. I can also imagine how horrible and scared someone had to be to end their life. I think both scenarios are equally terrible. If he killed himself because he wanted to be with his mom I really hope God forgave him and granted his last request and they are both together again. But what were Dana's motives to end her life? God would also have to forgive her to. As much as I agree with suicide being a sin, like all rules and laws there always has to be exceptions. Always. I have a big problem if God wouldn't let someone in heaven if they committed suicide if they just wanted to be with God or if they just didn't know how to grieve or accept the death of a loved one. Or if someone had a terrible medical condition even if that condition isn't terminal but if you are constantly in pain and suffering, again I just can't see God not letting you in heaven just because you just couldn't take the pain anymore. No one even really knows if suicide is unforgivable in God's eyes. For one, suicide is not on God's list of unforgivable sins. Blasphemy is the only unforgivable sin. And another thing that confuses me is that you can murder someone and be forgiven, but if you murder yourself it's not forgivable? In my opinion, I would think that taking someone else's life would be worse than taking your life. At least it was your decision to want to die, as opposed to killing someone that didn't want to die. But on the other hand if you chose to end your life to spite God or just kill yourself for no good reason then I agree that you maybe shouldn't go to heaven. I do believe that life is the most precious of all gifts and that comes from God, and only he should decide how and when your life ends. And to destroy that gift is very disrespectful. But I really believe there are exceptions. I just hate to think that all these poor souls that committed suicide didn't go to heaven. I was always told that God does not give you more problems or pain that you can handle. But what do you call suicide? That sounds like someone going thru things they just can't handle. Or are these people just weak? Either way it's obvious that people truly believe their lives will only get worse if they continue living, they see no relief and no hope. And sometimes this can also be the case. There is no guarantee that things will get better, all u have is your faith that God will help us get better. I'm sure there are plenty of people where there lives continued to get worse. So are we expected to just tough it out and continue to be miserable? For what reason tho? To prove our strength? To prove how much faith we have that God will help us. I also suffer with depression and I also have severely painful medical conditions with no cure and very little treatment options. I have very bad diabetes which led to my stomach being paralyzed. I suffer very much, and although my conditions aren't terminal, these conditions cause other conditions that are terminal. So in my eyes my chronic conditions are ultimately fatal, aren't they?@@albertdaley9093

    @CorbCorbin Год назад +4

    She seemed to age over ten years, from 16-21. She seems like a 30 year old, in the interview, though some of that is hair and makeup styles.
    She never had a chance to show any acting chops, so regardless of her talent, by the time she was a young adult, her drug abuse issues, kept her from being cast.
    She had bad management as well, because of going for dollars, over trying to keep her employed. She was at least 4th on the call sheet, during Diff’rent Strokes. And, her $100k a season paycheck, probably had the network just looking for a way to get out of it, by the 6th season. They brought in a character I don’t even hardly remember, with red hair, at one point.
    I really only remember the kidnapping episode, because it was so odd. The kidnappers were telling the kid he was going to replace their dead kid, or something similar. I was watching at maybe 8 years old, and it was odd.
    The show only lasted two seasons after Plato, so she may have gotten less screen time anyway, but the contract still would’ve been paid.
    She had no one helping to manage money, and ended up broke, very quickly.
    I even remember a magazine interview, in which she stated that most of the tv interviews, about being blacklisted, after Diff’rent Strokes, were just to get some money, at a certain point.
    She was someone that shows like The Surreal Life, or Celebrity Rehab, would go onto feed upon, some getting a career back, while many looked foolish.

    Dana is one of the most fascinating sad child star stories I think. Not only did I have a crush on Dana from the beginning (same age), but she just always seemed like someone that just needed a solid support group to bring her back to healthy. I think she was an average actress (as hinted at by the host, and I agree), so maybe a stronger direction in a different arena would have helped her. Tragic ending.

    If only she had gone to a hospital instead of the Winnebago. But I know I've laid down when I should have gone to hospital for other illnesses.
    Hollyweird still mistreats their child actors and we see the results in many of today's stars and former stars.

      All her close family and friends agree it was accidental. She was too excited to see her son, on Mother's Day. Whenever she missed a Mother's Day or holidays, without her son, she would get deeply depressed. But her son had a gift bought and flowers too. I can't fathom what excitement he had to see her, just to get the horrible news of her passing, right before a special day.

I just DO NOT understand how she ended up in her situation and passed away SOO young??? I wished she could have been saved from the fate she suffered.... :( How DID she end up on such a dark path??? I still care ...

    Those "closing" comments are blunt, but there is an element of truth in them. Many "Hollywood" people suffer the same problem: Once they've had a taste of success, they convince themselves that it must continue forever. An example of this is Lindsay Lohan, who - for some reason - was catapulted into "stardom", but her career was short-lived. She had a couple roles in successful films, but she didn't follow though with working on acting, just in being a "celebrity". Hollywood is fickle, and the wise actors have some kind of backup plan. Not everyone can carry an acting career forever.

    • @jdsundstrom
      @jdsundstrom  Год назад +1

      You're right. There is some truth to what was said. Fame can be fleeting...so, it's always good to have a back-up plan.

    • @platosplace
      @platosplace Год назад +1

      You're correct. Dana was put in the "industry" at around 3 years old. And from then on, she was working constantly. So after "Strokes" ended, she really didn't have any backup plans. She was offered rolls after the show, but they were similar to what she played, and she wanted to branch out. Same with Gary Coleman, he had many offers, but they were to play a kid and we all know he was sick of playing a kid and wanted to play adult roles, since he was at adult age by then.
      And Dana constantly mentioned her mom didn't prepare her for "the real world", but with Dana's additive personality, besides the drugs, she loved the high that fame gave too, so she continued to chase after the fame she once had too.
      Money really didn't mean much too her, as some would like to think. Dana was never ever a materialistic person, unlike todays stars.

    Here's a suggestion for another video or two of celebs who sadly lost their lives to depression, Karen Carpenter and Freddie Prinz Sr. Karen, from what came out after her passing didn't believe that she was loved and had a very low self image. One story I came across Karen and John Lennon met in a diner. John told Karen what a beautiful voics she had. She thanked John but according to the story she didn't believe him. I also came across a short video of John Davidson saying Karen had a poor self image and didn't believe in herself.
    Freddie Prinz Sr also struggled with depression and in early 1977 he ended up taking his own life. There is a video or two with Jimmy Walker talking about Freddie and what happened.
    Without going into personal details I really connected with one of the Carpenter's songs. Little did I know it was also the story of Karen's life. As for Freddie, back then, he was one of the very few who could make me laugh. So when I heard the news I took it hard.
    Very sad for them all, Dana, Freddie and Karen.

      @@jdsundstrom just a couple comments. The Carpenters song I was saying seemed to be the story of Karen's life was Goodbye to Love. As for Freddie and his depression, the prescribed meds he was on comes with potential side effects, to put this mildly in case yt doesn't approve, the side effects include doing self harm and/or harm to others. There are a number of videos talking about Freddie doing both those things.

    It's interesting how her character Kimberly on "Strokes" was so peripheral to all the stories. Where is the story where Kimberly isn't too keen on adopting the housekeeper's kids? She was just hi dad by dad type of character. I can see why they just ditched her when she got pregnant. It might have made an interesting story I suppose, but since she was never the focus of the writing maybe it would have been more trouble than it's worth. I also don't think she got black listed for getting pregnant. Probably more she just wasn't a cute kid anymore. This is the fate of most child actors isn't it?

    @Dave Sundstr Thanks. Dana got a raw deal from the start. I hope that she did know that there were fans who cared about her. I don't think much of her biological-mom or her adopted-mom. They didn't even have the decency to give her a proper burial so that fans could go pay their respects.
