@@otherworld11 Nope. They will have to take semesters off from college to practice, or do online college like Simone. Usually athletes that compete in the NCAA(College gymnasts) never return to elite gymnastics, Mykayla Skinner being the only exception. So I'm sure Grace won't be coming back but there's a small chance that Suni might be coming back.
@@Marvelerence Of course they can! 🤦♀️ They wouldn’t HAVE to take a semester off either if they didn’t want too. Jordyn Weiber was at UCLA and training for the Olympics. She ended up giving up that goal of the Olympics because it was too hard to be a team assistant for Bruins gymnastics AND train. She said she wanted to be there for her team 100% and stop training for the Olympics. The reason why Simone pulled out of UCLA after she verbally committed was because she decided to go pro voiding her scholarship. It really just all depends on the person. Back in 2008 everyone was in awe over the fact Shawn Johnson attended regular public high school and was training for Beijing. It’s not like there is a mandatory rule that says you have to train for 8+ hours a day. 4 solid hours is better than 8 tired under performed hours. I think the lack of return for NCAA u mentioned has more to do with the fact they already accomplished a goal they had been working toward sense they we’re little girls so they feel accomplished and ready for a new chapter. I also think it has to do with once they start competing with their team for their school that that fills any they might have had. With Skinner she was only an alternate so she felt like she had unfinished business she had to complete before moving on to the next chapter of life. Shallon Olsen who is a vaulter on the Canadian team goes to the University of Alabama and competes for them in NCAA gymnastics. The 2021 Olympics was her second consecutive one.
@@alinaporter3846 Well, I'm sure it's technically possible to do both, but it will be incredibly difficult and that's why you don't see many gymnasts taking that path. Suni and Grace have already accomplished a lot in their career, if they were to try out for the Olympics, I'm sure they would want to do even better in the 2024 Olympics. Doing that requires extreme dedication. I think NCAA gymnasts aren't allowed to train more than 20 hours a week. Suni and Grace will have to put in even more effort than that in order to excel. Not to mention NCAA rules and routines are so different from elite, it would be very difficult to train for both at the same time.
Congrats to both Grace and Suni! At a time of struggle, the Twin Cities and Minnesotans so much needed this uplifting news! America is proud of you. We are proud of what you stand for by representing the red, white, and blue.

I hope Suni's recognition can make all of us re-think our identity as Americans from different ethnicities and walks of life amidst all the chaos going on right now, and especially the racism against Asian Americans. We are all Americans, by nationality, but we come from a diverse background. What unites us is the flag we pledge allegiance to. What unites us is the innovation created from our melting pot. Please don't break America apart because our colors are different. Please don't say anymore that America does not belong to Asian Americans. Also, not all Asian Americans come from wealthy backgrounds, and we are not all privileged. Suni's story is proof of what a typical Asian American immigrant family goes through to reach the top--hard work, determination, and the motivation to do it for our family. We did not have rich uncles or inheritance from our granddads. Suni did this first and foremost for her family, herself, and for America, in this order. We're so proud of her, for representing America on world stage, and for representing Asian Americans. Please be mindful the next time you want to shout racial slurs against someone of Asian descent.
That is what a true American is, our ancestors fought a war to bring us here. My hmong people we can do anything. Let's stick together and make the ones who lost their lives so we can live free and bring them honor. We may not have a country but we do have our history and our future.
What about other Olympians who competed and are from MN too? O.o. Cant forget about them...Congrats to all Olympians and those from MN. Happy for Grace and Suni ^_^
